Staff was rude. Food was over salty. They kept moving us for a large group reservation. The waiter asked for a tip. I find that very rude. He even chased us out the door asking for it.

The service was really good. We ordered 7 dishes for takeout. My fav was the pickled cabbage with pork stew and beef pancake. The lamb ribs was only ok though. The seasoning is so red, it is kind of scary looking.

Friends are in town craving for spicy food. Right away we thought of this place. This is my second time here and the food gets better each times. Most of the crab is freshly purchase once you place the order, it doesn’t take long for them to prepare it. The interior of this place is pretty old but what most important is the place is clean and food is good.

We ordered the fish fillet in spicy sauce $ 16 + muslim lamb chop $ 26. Both were delish and came out relatively quickly. Star of the show was the fish fillet in spicy sauce. There was a generous amount of fish, so soft and tender cooked in the szechuan peppers and hot oil. I was such a huge fan of the flavor I almost took home the leftover broth/oil so I could cook stuff with lol. The muslim lamb chop was a little bit difficult to eat and heavy on the cumin(which I don’t mind at all). Personally, I had to scrape off all the seasoning on top because that would’ve been too much party in my mouth… In the end, there wasn’t too much meat. It was a good dish but not one I’d come back for given the price. Rice is like an extra $ 1.50 for 2 bowls. Even if you’re not a huge carb eater, I recommend ordering rice to go with these flavor-heavy dishes. They take both cash and card. no discount for cash.

This place has friendly fast service and ok food. We got a noodle soup dish that was meh and unflavourful, an interesting cumin fried fish dish that was maybe overpowering with the whole cumin seeds, but still pretty good. And a crispy tofu dish that was not at all crispy but tasty.

The Muslim lamb is a must-have…probably the most popular dish here, and for good reason. It may come on a bit strong with the lamb flavor combined with the crusted cumin and other herbs but I thought it was amazing. Worth finding parking in Flushing for… and I never go to Flushing to eat any more.

This place is bomb! It’s doing something right. This place has very authentic food and probably a very busy kitchen because the food comes out very quick. Foods I highly recommend: Country Style Green Bean Sheet Jelly Cumin ribs Fried fish Desert: Fried potatoes covered in sugar For the noodles, the waiter mixes everything up for you at the table! Pretty awesome service. The fried fish gives you a nice crunch at first and then the fish just melts in your mouth. If you never tried it before, you have to give it a taste. The cumin ribs were also really good. Packed with seasoning and very tender. If you have a large party, they have a big room in the back for privacy. The only reason why this isn’t 5 stars is because sometimes their other dishes(not the 3 above) are overly salty and needs to be accompanied with rice; maybe it was a fluke but I will come back and verify. Lastly, alot of people come here for the fried potatoes covered in sugar. If you never tried it, you’ll have a fun experience. They give you a bowl of water and you have to dip the potato in water so that the sugar hardens and becomes a «candy.» Give it a try!

we accidentally sat for a meal here because it seems to have the same address as Sifu Chio on Unilocal.not sure why by the time we realized we were in the wrong restaurant, they had already served us complimentary hot tea so we decided to stay everyone was ordering family style chinese dishes that looked and smelled amazing but we were eating a progressive meal for asian snack foods and this was already our 3rd stop so we got something small –beef pancake: sure it was a bit oily BUTYUMMM. never had a beef pancake in this style. the pancake had that chewy starchy texture w/a sear and the juicy filling reminded me of dumplings would def come back for family style eating!

Came here to try the famous muslim lamb for $ 28(before tax and tip)! It was definitely delicious, but I do wish it was more spicy and salty. I can always make this request next time.

What a great find. This is one of those hidden type restaurants. Typical Chinese fashion restaurant. Nothing special about the interior and exterior of the restaurant, but it is the food that will get you to come. We ordered 4 dishes. We got the Green Bean Sheet Jelly w. Red Oil. At first glance, it might be spicy or really spicy. Once you take a bite, the flavors are so amazing. It is actually more on the sweet side with a hint of spice. Nice crunch from the roasted peanuts. The cucumbers gives this dish a great refreshing taste. The green bean sheet jelly which is mung bean noodles soaks all the flavors of the dish real nicely. Next came the Pickled Cabbage with Pork and Tofu Noodle Soup. I did not expect this to be such a big bowl. I did like this soup. Nice subtle sourness. Noodles are great. Every ingredient soaks up the sourness. The Beef Pancakes were up next. Really juicy. The juices were flowing out before I even started to bite in it. It was like I was eating a giant dumpling. and comes the best dish of the night… We got the Sweets Mix Combo dish. It comes with Taro, Sweet Potato, and Apple. This dish was off the chain. It comes out piping hot. Basically you take one and dip it into the bowl of water they give you. It basically cools it down a bit and gets rid of the extra strands of sugar strings. The water doesn’t ruin the flavor. This dish is so DELICIOUS!!! Crispy and crunchy on the outside. Soft on the inside. Sweet sugary taste all around. It’s one of those dishes, I think kids will fight over the last piece. 4 dishes = $ 52 for 2 people and its family style. Awesome Food. Gots to get that Sweets and Mung Bean Noodles.

This place is definitely an old Chinatown sort of place i.e. oily foods galore. Even the vegetables have a slick layer of oil. It’s enjoyable, but definitely a once in a while place for me. I came across this place through a Serious Eats review(and others) waxing poetic about their Muslim Lamb Chop. It was good, not amazing. Meat was tough but pretty well seasoned. I would like more cumin. This definitely feels like a non-Chinese Chinese food place. A lot of dishes that were raved about such as the bean jelly are really quite common. That said, nothing disappointed. We got, dou miao, muslim lamb chops, dumplings, beef tendon. All good. Honestly, the nearly empty space should have given me a clue that it was over-hyped but I wanted to try it anyways.

If you’ve ever eaten Chinese food and thought, «This is nice, with the soy and ginger and sesame and scallion, but it would be even better with an Indian smörgåsbord of spices,» then run, run, run to Fu Run. Specializing in the sub-cuisine known as Muslim Chinese food, Fu Run – like its unrelated cousin Xi’an – is a treat for the palates of those who love Chinese and Indian/Middle Eastern cuisines separately but have never experienced them together. The much-touted Muslim Lamb Chops is $ 26, but is so big, so succulent, so fall-off-the-bone tender, it is worth every penny. Picture juicy meat marinated in roasted spices such as cumin, chiles, cloves, paprika, and more, and you’ll understand why this dish is so popular. Other unique creations include the Jellyfish Flowers, which utilize more than just the tentacles of said creatures and marinate them in a spice-soy sauce blend that will make your mouth sing. For the less adventurous, the fluffy and flavorful Sesame Pancakes will likely hit the spot. The menu is huge but loaded with pictures, and the staff speak pretty adequate English, so don’t be afraid to take your time browsing and and asking questions. This is not your chow mien and beef-with-broccoli kind of spot.

The sauce is very flavorful, we ordered Kidney, Sweet and Sour Fish(don’t get the squirrel fish, get fillet fish), lamb cumin, tofu schechuan. Service is lousy as usual typical chinese place. Place is a little dirty. Love the cumin lamb and sweet and sour fish fillet.

Came here on a Friday night and every table was occupied. We were a party of 6 and we didn’t wait too long for a table. The menu has lots of pictures and made ordering fairly easy. Since we had 6 people, we each got to order a dish so everyone is happy and get to try new dishes. We had: 1. Green bean sheet jelly with red oil — It’s a cold dish, a bit spicy, and refreshing from the cucumbers, plus a bit of a crunch from the peanuts and the jelly sheets are chewy and bouncy. I like these kinds of starters. 2. Muslim lamb chop — Everyone is talking this dish and it seems like it’s the signature dish. I’m not a big fan of lamb meat and the dish was not bad. It’s well seasoned. The meat was tender and falls off the bone. Portion was big too, worth the price. 3. Fresh fish filets in hot chili oil — I had this dish in many Szechuan restaurants and this restaurant does a decent job making this dish. It was spicy, fish filets was nice and soft and covered in hot chili oil. 4. Triple delight vegetables — This dish had eggplant, which I love, potatoes, love that too and peppers. It’s spicy and sweet. I really love this dish. Must order if you love eggplant. 5. Crispy sliced fish with chili pepper & cumin — This was my favorite dish out of everything we ordered. The fish was so good! The batter was light and the flavors were outstanding. It’s also spicy. This is now my favorite fish dish in Chinese cuisine. 6. Triple pork intestines — My friend loves pork intestines, but I’m not a big fan. So this had to be my least favorite dish. It wasn’t bad at all if you like pork intestines though. This is not a spicy dish. It’s sautéed with peppers with a light sauce. This is a restaurant where I would come again and again. I really like the food here and the service is friendly and fast. The prices are reasonable and the portions are for family style.

I went in with high expectations because everyone was taking about these delicious fall off the bone lamb chops. I have to say I was a little disappointed. The service was attentive and the food came out in no time(a little too fast hmmm). I was really hungry so everything tasted better naturally. And even then I was not that impressed. My friend and I got the country style green bean sheet jelly, Muslim lamb chop, and sesame pancake. The country style green bean sheet jelly needed some salt. You could definitely taste the garlic, vinegar, and sesame. The there were plenty of cucumbers but not enough of everything else that was supposed to be in it(like carrots, tofu skin, wood ear, I don’t even know if it was supposed to have pork in it? I think i had one shred). The Muslim lamb chop was hot and spicy. The cumin flavor really came through. But again what was lacking was salt. The meat was really juicy and tender. There was no game-y lamb flavor which was great. Some parts were a bit fatty but that’s expected from lamb meat. The sesame pancake was way undercooked. I felt like I was eating dough. It felt like the dough needed more time to rise. The sesame flavor wasnt strong either. It just wasnt like sesame pancake I have had at home.

If you are looking for family style dinner eating authentic Chinese food, this is a great spot to go to. It is vegetarian and pescatarian friendly. The food that I had is 1-crispy fish fillet with cumin spices, one of my favorite fish dishes not named«fish in red chili oil», it is fried to perfection, too fishy, and very flavorful, it is indeed one of the recommendations by others and I know why. 2-eggplant with peppers and hot chili peppers, a little on the greasy end but this one tasted quite good, I’m a huge eggplant and chili pepper fan. 3-fish in red chili oil, i thought this was just ok, spices weren’t enough and fish quality was not that good, I would eat it at a szechuan place, just not here. 4-Chinese cabbage, cucumber and green bean noodle, this is a cold dish, spicy and tasted good. They only have three big tables so if you have a large party, be prepared to wait. I would come back here, like the food here and will try other dishes.

3.5 Stars Finally Came here and try out this place with NOCROWD. I thought i had to wait outside for a table on a Monday around 7PM, but it was half empty. Ordered: The Muslim Lamb — Too much Cumin, and the Lamb we had was a tad dry. Also Ordered the Crispy Cumin Fish — I enjoyed the light batter and the taste of the Fish, but there was too much MSG in it… I enjoy the taste but after eating couple of more pieces I felt dissapointed. Steamed peashoots with garlic — This plain dish should be good, but it was too salty.(Sight). Had to eat 2 bowl of rice to clear my throat. Staffs here are friendly and attentive. I think over the years the lack of taste and the cooking technique have fade away…

Even better this time around. The venerable Muslim Lamb Chop was tastier than the previous time as the ribs we got were meatier and there was less cumin/pepper seasoning on top. This gave us the pleasure of tasting more of the lamb which was very moist, not too fatty, and not gamey. My friend who doesn’t particularly enjoy lamb(some bad previous experiences) enjoyed the ribs, remarking on how un-gamey it tasted. The Chinese style mustard greens were so tasty and proved to compliment the rich and spicy lamb well. Greens were cooked to a point where they were still crunchy sautéed in a hint of oil, soy sauce, and what I could discern as oyster sauce. A really nice vegetable side dish. Sizzling seafood platter was yummy too. Served on a hot cast iron dish, this plate consisted of sea cucumber, shrimp, squid, octopus, and various vegetables simmering in a brown sauce. All the seafood and vegetable components were fresh; a trend I gladly see Fu Run seems to adhere to.

I’ve been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally came the other night. My husband and I were dying to try out the Muslim Lamb Chops, with all the hype behind this dish, we had very high expectations. This place is packed! We waited about 30mins to get seated. Almost every table had an order of their famous Muslim Lamb Chops, so of course that was on our menu. We also ordered their Jumbo S&P Shrimp and shrimp fried rice. So, this famous dish(Muslim Lamb Chops) are actually a rack of very fatty lamb breast that has been deep fried and topped with excessive amounts of fried cumin and pepper. It also had a distinct color to it, which seemed to be red food coloring. The meat was very juicy, fatty and soft, falling off the bone. However, had a distinct smell to it(which you will find in mostly all authentic Chinese restaurants). The smell and taste is quite strong and if your not used to it, it may be hard to bear. My husband and I both had about 2 pieces and could not bear to finish the rest. The fried was rice pretty good and the shrimp was good as well, but definitely not jumbo and way overpriced! Overall, not a place I’d crave to come back to. I’m glad we tried it to check out the hype, but didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

Hot DAYMN, I don’t think I’ve experienced lamb like this in my life. Is this even Chinese food? Am I Chinese? Who am I? I came here for the lamb, finally, years after an old coworker raved about it. The Muslim lamb chops, great chunks of meat right off the rib bone, laden with a thick layer of spices(heavy on cumin), spicy without burning the insides of your mouth off, and full of flavor. Yes. This was a good choice, and worth the trip. You literally have to brush off layers of the spices so you can actually eat the thing. The website said the lamb chop is $ 22.95, outdated — it’s closer to $ 26. So, not cheap, but fairly large and filling — you get about 6 – 7 ribs in the order and they are NOT small. Empty around 4:45pm when the three of us walked in, filled up considerably halfway through our meal even though it was still pre-dinner rush. The eggplant in garlic sauce arrived looking and tasting nothing like what I expected. I was expecting cooked-to-the-point-of-mush, drowning in delicious salty brown sauce, which is just how I like it. This version was, firstly, NOT purple, because they peeled the eggplants. This could be any vegetable then! Jk, it was clearly eggplant once you bite into it. The chunks were bite-sized and long-ish, maybe 2 inches across, and lightly fried so that they are actually slightly crispy. And mildly sweet. I felt like I was eating a lightly battered version of sweet-and-sour eggplant. Not what I was anticipating, but quite delicious. This was the only dish that was completely taken care of by our table. We also ordered this white fish in hot oil dish, which I would do a terrible job explaining because I was far more focused on ordering, anticipating, and devouring the lamb(and on my confused enjoyment of the eggplant), than I was on the fish. It was aiite. I hear their cumin-tastic fish dish, sort of a seafood version of the Muslim lamb chops, is also quite good, so I’ll give that a try next time. Rice is an extra charge. I’m not in Flushing much these days, so not sure if that’s customary now. They never give enough napkins. I need like, at least 7 napkins to get through this meal with all of the hot oils and juices dripping from the lamb. This napkin stinginess, in fact, is customary of Flushing restaurants. But seriously, that lamb. Yum. Worth all of the post-meal, cumin-y burps.
