LIRR Douglaston Station

The most convenient way for me to get to the city from my house.
Don’t really think anything is wrong with the station — there’s a good amount of residential (free) parking, and a paid lot as well.
The station is clean. Never crowded when I got (obviously so, because it’s always off-​peak).
Can’t complain — except that they should keep the station building doors open on the weekend especially when it’s cold out side!

Convenient station with lots of parking. And the early commuters get some nice free street parking. The fair is in Zone 3 and is cheap (for the LIRR). The Port Washington Branch is easily the best line and this station is on it. You do get some of the express trains stopping here too. Just be aware the the underground tunnel always smells.
A few improvements that will probably never happen:
— I wish the westbound side had another exit point from all the way west. Its a long hike back to the station house.
— Used to be a deli on the westbound side. Hopefully one returns. You need to have your coffee already with you.
— The sidewalk on the north side near the trees never gets shoveled. And the trees never get trimmed in the spring/​summer. It can be a little hazardous.

It’s a train station. I don’t know what you can really expect.
However…
The station does have a waiting room that is warm in the winter. I guess that means the station wins.

This is my neighborhood’s LIRR station and how am I not going to love it? Its located on douglaston pkwy, 2 – 3 blocks away from northern. Its not crowded at all and there is a big parking lot next to it. There are also 2 areas in each side where you can pull over while you wait for someone. There are delis, restaurants and even bars less than 2 blocks away. Super convenient and super clean. There is also a waiting room w Ac/​heat and enough chairs. The best part: the ride to the city only takes 20min.
