I’m here right now as I’m WAITING for my cake in which I reserved at 12pm, and they’re making me wait half and hour already. I am absolutely frustrated, if I say that I’m going to pick it up at 12PM, I EXPECT it to be on TIME. But no, now I’m MAD late ALL because they couldn’t commit to the time. Therefore, this will be my first and LAST time ordering a cake here. Tried to tell the ladies but they say it’s no big deal. This is so sad.

If you can’t deal with overpriced baos, then don’t come here. If you can, then give this Tai Pan a try.
I came years ago and left pretty upset after given a huge attitude, but my experience today was completely different. The lady who helped me was so friendly and had a huge grin on her face. That’s also given that the turnover rate at these places is probably pretty high.
Anyway, came here because I had an $ 8 giftcard from a good friend’s wedding invitation (thanks Tilz K. ;D) and was craving for baos and a milk tea. Like I said, the price is high here. The average price for a bao is around $ 1.30-$ 1.50+. An iced milk tea is $ 2.75. I got 4 baos, one cold milk tea at $ 2.75. and one hot milk tea at $ 1.10 and my total came out to $ 9.40. But what I didn’t expect was for the bread to actually be so good? I definitely did not come on an off day because the bread I had was dense and soft and moist. The iced milk tea also tasted much better than the one I had in Chinatown a few weeks ago.

The cakes are definitely better than some of the other bakeries. We had ordered a mango cake slice and a chestnut cake slice. Both were really good for their own reasons. If you want something different, definitely go for the chestnut one!
Will be back to try other flavours!

This bakery is super solid! We were in a hurry; we had to get across town for a family engagement, so I ran in here while my fiancé idled in the car.
As a connoisseur of Chinese bakeries (I love the savory items!), I was pretty impressed with this bakery. There’s ample selection, and so many types of the same item in different flavors.
Also, everything is labeled — and in English too for ease!
It’s serve-​yourself style. Just grab a tray and pile it on. Don’t miss the hot buns in the warmer; they’re serve yourself. Just don’t get in the way of the lady who’s rushes over to fill it up. Heads up: she makes a few trips, so don’t think you can just get in there to get one after she’s left like I did. Oops! She was not impressed with me.
The steamed BBQ Pork Buns were pretty big and heftily filled. I also got a Taro bun, a corn bun (could have used a tiny bit of salt), a Baked BBQ Pork Bun, and an Egg and Scallion Bun which was awesome!
I wish there were some more hot items, but this is definitely a bakery more than a take away dim sum place, unlike some of the places that a are hybrid of the two.

I remember taipan from a kid. Their prices have gone up with the times but it’s still reasonable. They make good sandwitches bread and of course good milk tea and coffee… there is just something about taipan or other big one that just makes the perfect cup of coffee or milk tea. Just the right amount of cream hold the sugar tho, that not even a great bubble tea place can beat. The good old days … My t shirt should say keep calm and bread on…

I love this place.
Extremely busy Korean place with just a few people speaking English.
But I was approached by the owner who personally took my order and made sure I’ll get the best service.
Highly recommend.

I always like Tai Pan’s pastries. The prices are affordable.
I particularly like egg tart. I feel this place has one of the best egg tarts in flushing.

Taipan Bakery is a true grade above the many other Chinese bakeries that crowd the streets of Flushing, and it is evident in the quality of their goods.
They are a true artisan bakery where everything is made and baked on premises so they are worth the extra $ 0.25 to $ 0.50. I grew up on Taipan bakery, and their high standards have always been really well maintained. Some favorites (although all of their stuff is good):
— baked spaghetti
— cocktail bao
— pineapple bao
— raisin twist
— egg tarts (egg white and almond are my faves, but they’re constantly sold out by the time I arrive after work)
— chicken pie
— taro, mango, chestnut cakes
— napoleon
— cake rolls
— specialty drinks (milk tea, red bean milkshake, mango bubble tea)
*** On Mother’s Day each year, they have started offering Bird’s Nest Egg Tarts. These are AMAZING, and we always order a few dozen. Costs less than the average Midtown Manhattan cupcake, and extremely decadent and rich. Perfect treat for all the mamas. ***

Taipan has been around since ’90, and they offer cakes, pastries, and even seasonal specials. The Crispy Lemon Bun, when it’s hot & fresh, is quite delicious — the bread itself is flaky and crispy, and filled with the right amount of lemon custard goodness. Their Red Bean Bun is also good with its almond-​cookie-​like exterior and a warm sweet red bean filling. Pastries are about $ 1, and it’s good if you go either early in the morning or when it just comes piping hot, right out of the oven!

This bakery has been around for a while and still makes decent breads. They have a wide selection of sweet and savory breads. My favorites are the tuna bun and the fish sandwich. They also have this baked custard bread that is pretty delicious. They also have sandwiches and cakes as well as generic drinks such as teas and coffees. They have a nice selection of cake flavors all of which I want to try out. They only take cash which is a norm in flushing. All in all if you want to get a quick bit in flushing this is the place to go.

Tai Pan is probably one of the longest running bakeries in Flushing. It’s convenient location in the heart of Flushing, and relatively close to the subway and other major bus stops, make it an ideal place to grab a morning coffee/​tea and a bread or pastry and head to work. Almost every morning, 7 days a week, this place is packed with people.
They have lots of pastries, cakes, breads, and other treats. Coffee/​tea is just okay. Nothing special. No question, one of the largest selections anywhere in Flushing. But quality and taste-​wise, not everything is tasty and through the years, I’ve tried just about every pastry or baked bread. I still have old favorites like the Custard Buns, or the Red Bean buns, but even those, I would prefer to go to Apollo Bakery a block away. As Tai Pan gets quite loud sometimes, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who wants to study here. Just come in, grab something and go. loll

The place can be better if the place are kept clean and not dirty and sticky.

This bakery/​corporation has been ingrained into my existence. Before I knew about mcdonald and others, this is the authetic asian community fast food. Quick grab for fresh bread, coffee, and tea. If you were behaving well, maybe your parent bought you a custard. These days, the price of bread has gone up and its not such a great deal anymore. The place is usually pack and its hard to sit and enjoy your bun.
If you are new to asian bakery, I recommend the pork bun or red bean bun. The price of bun ranges from $ 1.30 to close to $ 2. What happened to the 90 cent days? It was like everything on the 1 dollar menu or less. Oh the good old days.
Came by today to buy a cake. The type of cake that they offer/​price are not accurate. There are like 16 tags about various cakes but I see only 10 cakes. How do I know which one is what? You have to ask the staff to double check and verify. Its a doozie when staff doesnt speak english or your native chinese language. (YES, there are more chinese language than Mandarin and Cantonese). You can get by pointing and nodding. Everybody speaks mostly Mandarin. Cake are sometimes not what they make it out to be. never judge a cake by its cover. Got a green tea cheesecake. Price ranges from 18 to 28 roughly. Mostly of the cake are on the 28 side. Not my ideal place to buy cakes but at this point, its nostalgia.

This place used to be a lot better before the owner sold the place. Now it’s just kind of dimly lit and a bit dirty. I wouldn’t mind coming here for a quick coffee or some bread. But other than that I wouldn’t come here to relax or study. There are plenty of better bakeries in Flushing.
Also, the ladies that work here are rude. So don’t take anything into offense because they’re just bitter about their jobs I assume.

I’ve been going to Tai Pan for years and they have so much to offer. My absolute favorites:
Green tea ice cream cake:
YUP, if you are a green tea anything lover then you must try their ice cream cake. For my birthday I always request for ice cream cakes and on several occasions I have point blankly requested for Tai Pan’s. It’s ALL green tea with gummies and chocolate on top. I’m sure you can request for other toppings but the gummies go really well with it.
Egg tarts:
They make so many flavors like coconut, almond, green tea, Portuguese, white egg… Absolutely delicious
Chicken pot pie:
Tiny pot pies that make you all warm and fuzzy inside
Moon cakes:
Single yolk. Double yolk. Mochi style in all flavors. Need I say more.
Buns buns buns:
They have so many yummy buns. My favorites are the hotdog bun, scallion twisted braid bun, and egg with dried roasted pork.
Drinks:
Iced honey lemon & hot honey lemon
Watermelon juice
Did you know they serve chicken soup here too.

This place has been here forever, and I hope it continues to be here forever! The pastries are not bad, and the coffee is as Chinese bakery coffee is. What I come here for are my seasonal mooncakes! Tai Pan is the only franchise in the entire city, maybe even East Coast (tried to look for a good substitute in Philly or NJ — there isn’t any!), that makes such delicious snow-​skin moon cakes. I have trekked here many years to get a box of delicious snow-​skin moon cakes. I will probably trek here many years more. The closer to the holiday you come, the more of a mad-​house it is! Also, there are set boxes, so unless you get a very patient server during a complete lull, you will never be able to make a box of flavors exactly to your liking (unless the sets already come the way you like it).

The pork chop with rice was exactly what you thought it was. I wish there was more flavor in the tomato sauce though. For $ 4.25 not bad. This place work quickly. I saw this one lady pretty much calling orders for the bakery in the back to make and bring up more of various items on a walkie-​talkie.
This is good for a quick snack. I probably would not make a meal of this place though

One of my favorite bakeries in Flushing, they serve great breads like my favorite raisin bread and cheese bun. The best part about this bakery is the combination of American and Asian delicacies. I recommend getting their Green Tea roll cake too. It is sweet and fluffy. To pair with your bread, you should invest in a Iced Milk tea too. It is a drink that is tangy and enjoyable especially on a hot day.

Wonderful bakery in flushing for all my chinese baked goods. They have a wide selection of sweet pastries and cakes but i usually come here for the baked goods. Buns and egg tarts. Go for the pineapple bun and egg tarts for a great snack.
Also has wonderful teas and coffees. I particularly liked their iced lemon tea.

Came here with an $ 8 wedding coupon in hand and got the following for a short road trip for 4:
1. Plain pineapple bun
2. Raisin Twist
3. Pineapple bun with red bean filling — the red bean filling wasn’t overly sweet, thankfully
4. Baked BBQ pork bun — BBQ pork filling was an odd red paste without any discernible pieces of pork visible
5. Bun with egg, scallion and dried pork — usually one of my favorite buns when it’s done right… with the balance of sweet from the bun, salty from the dried pork, savory from the scallion and the fluffy texture of the scrambled egg which brings it all together. This version looked promising but turned out to be extremely bland and disappointing.
Since I was buying for 4 and had to share I was only able to taste 3 of the buns. Based on the buns I did taste Tai Pan seems to be a very average bakery. It’s not the worst I’ve ever tasted but I’d only return if I had another wedding coupon to use. Seven buns came out to $ 8.80 (i got doubles of #4 & #5) with each one ranging from $ 1.20-$ 1.30.
