TSA Checkpoint Concourse C – La Guardia Airport

TSA PreCheck is incredibly frustrating at this terminal. Each time I’ve been here the Precheck lane was closed and then my PreCheck status causes confusion. A month ago the first agent told me I was expedited and gave me a placard to hold that said «Expedited». He said I could keep my windbreaker and shoes on. I placed my bag on the conveyor belt and walked up to the metal detector. The TSA agent there loudly says «Sir take off your shoes and jacket you’re holding up the line!» I showed her the placard which says that I can keep my shoes and light jacket on and tell her the first agent told me precisely to keep my shoes and jacket on. She insisted I take them off until another agent said I could go through.
Now, a month later, I’m here, in the same line. They give me the «Expedited» badge of shame because PreCheck lane is closed. I take off my shoes and jacket anyway to avoid any possible confrontation. «Sir you don’t need to scan your shoes and jacket. Expedited is designed to make the line go faster» I can’t get through this place without being accused of slowing the line down.
Ironically there is a Precheck enrollment office right next to the security checkpoint. Precheck is a nice service at the dedicated lanes but it’s a frustrating mess here going through regular lanes.

Not like comfortable delta shuttle. this c concourse is outdated. Au Bön Pain, Pretzel and one other will overcharge you but you have no choice. No hot food
if you are going from C9 or C11 get in line early as its a crushed. terrible set up. people often get in wrong line if there is a flight at C14 and C11 at same time. Don’t spend
more time here than absolutely necessary. Mostly business travelers who know the drill, except in silly season when kids get squished!
