Whitestone Lanes

It’s was ok somewhat expensive. Not much of a selection of balls to choose from very old ones made the best of it. will try another bowling ally in the area. But we had a nice time

I’ve never wrote a poor review up until this point. I came with a group of 8 ready to bowl. The method in which we had to pay was very confusing. The confusion began with a tall white male, who was on his phone worrying about the Miami Heat game (guessing he’s playing fantasy and/​or had money on the game) while trying to explain how my party had to pay. I literally stood at the register with money in hand ready to pay while he was in his phone. We regrouped and came back with the amount he told us. This time we are being taken care of by an Asian male who was a little more personable but told us a completely different price. When he asked the white guy he kinda gave a shrug and wasn’t willing to clarify the change in price. This point I’m still confused as to how much we should’ve paid. We ended up leaving to go to another alley 20mins away which worked out to be a better experience. It seems to me customer service isn’t a priority at this establishment, therefore not worth my business.

I came here over the weekend for an impromptu birthday gathering and opportunity to have fun times with some of my Unilocaler friends. Whitestone is actually exactly what I was looking for — an affordable, suburban-​type, low frills bowling alley, where you can kick it with peeps, family or whoever without feeling like it’s a big night on the town or that you’re going to break the bank (I’m talking to you, Bowlmor and Lucky Strike).
We found a great Groupon which included one game, shoe rental and a month VIP card ($ 5 games for the next month) for two for $ 12. Given the low price, most of my party decided to participate.
This location also has a family friendly birthday party room (we had some fun in there) and two fully stocked bars.
The balls are a motley crew; some are very worn and others look like they’ve only been hitting the lanes this year.
Whitestone plays top 40 music. The staff isn’t exactly friendly, but I have a feeling they have to put up with a lot of nonsense and redundant questions. Good times.

Not sure if it’s because I haven’t bowled in a while or inflation has occurred but bowling got expensive! $ 7.50 a game per person on weekends/​holidays. $ 4.50 on regular weekdays. $ 4.50 for shoe rentals. Couldn’t find a lot of bowling ball varieties but I didn’t look too hard anyway. Had a good time but they definitely need some upgrades i.e. speakers/​sound system.

I liked it here :) I really enjoyed myself. The only down part was paying $ 3 for socks and no music being played… it was a weekend when i went! Lol. I’ll be back though.

Looks shady from the outside but inside is perfectly fine. Took 3 year old niece and we had a blast. There are probably 40 – 50 lanes. I was surprised with how big it was. Bumper bowling was set up for niece without an issue. Her ball got stuck down the middle of the lane a few times and within seconds there was a worker to retrieve the ball (without any prompting). Would absolutely recommend and go back. Cash only — ATM onsite.

Old-​fashioned bowling alley with no-​nonsense bowling, come here if you want to bowl any time of the day, any day of the week. They are open 24/​7, love that I always have a decent place to bowl. They definitely could use a renovation but if you don’t care about décor and only want to bowl then this is the place for you.

Went there with the kids of the school I work for. The bowling area works but the rest sucks balls. A single really small cheese pizza slice with a juice was $ 4 !!! I felt they were kidding! Plus they do not take debit nor credit cards… Its like some prehistoric bullcrap bowling place. NOT RECOMEND IT!!!

Horrible service! Very bad attitude! The old white man who works there treat customers so rude :(Making customers very uncomfortable :(Never gonna visit again!!!

One of the few kids-​friendly bowling lanes that stays open relatively late. Overall experience was ok. My only gripes is that they’re a bit on the pricy side. They also don’t accept cash, but there is a ATM on site of course. Lane 6 is either slightly uneven or there is some sort of gravity pull, cause it kept pulling the balls slightly to the left.

Had a birthday party today for 20+ toddlers. Lisa was in charge of everything from bowling to food. Everything was on point. Kids enjoyed the food and the bowling. Recommend for anyone having a childs party. Will definately be coming back!!!

What a terrible bowling alley, and most importantly, an awful experience. Not only were the workers here completely inattentive, but when asked for help they seemed, dare I say it… bothered.. .
When we were given our lane, we saw the bumpers were still up. I asked one of the workers behind the counter to take the bumpers down for us, to which his response was «Just kick it.» After his stellar suggestion of «just kick it» we waited a ridiculous long amount time just to get that taken care of, because when we tried we could not do it… And why should we have to??? Do the workers in McDonalds tell you to get your own Ketchup? I don’t think so.
There was another point when I was trying to order food and the guy looked me in my face, walked away, came back and started a conversation with his coworker, as if I was not standing there at all. It was unbelievable! I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. I asked him if I could place an order, because maybe he thought I was just browsing their two meal menu (–_​-​), but sure enough, he was just ignoring me. He looked at me and continued talking. It was such a horrible experience that I started to laugh.
Now I understand that customers suck, I use to work in customer service for three years, so I get it, but that does not give you the right to be rude. You put a fake smile on your face and help the customer anyway, because that’s your job.
Maybe it was my own fault for coming. I knew walking into Whitestone Lanes that it would be just as it looks… disgusting, and I should have listened to my gut. I’m here to prevent you all from making the same mistake I did. Ultimately, don’t waste your time. Save yourselves the trouble and go somewhere else where you are not treated like a burden or a mere obligation.

As soon as I stepped in the bouncer said «it’s $ 20 per person per game, and you have to pay here now». It was four of us and only three wanted to bowl. But fine, whatever, an extra $ 20 no big deal. My friend said ok well I have credit card is that ok? The bouncer said nope you can use the atm. Then after taking a good look at the place and the environment and people we decided we didn’t want to go here. It was lacking that bowling alley experience and felt more like some club, and we weren’t looking for that. I’m used to walking up to the counter, paying for my games and shoes, picking my ball, and playing. But this time, I really didn’t like the vibe of things, so I bounced.

Stay away! Its dirty, old, the shoes stink and they have a bad attitude. The lanes freeze often and you lose time trying to get it reset. The lighting is bad, it looks depressing. The music was also obnoxiously loud, you have to scream to try to talk to the person next to you. I wouldn’t trust their food either. The counter looks really dirty.

I did come here earlier today around 2−3pm. I did purchase a living social deal that gave me 10 games and 6 months of VIP access. They were very nice in explaining my VIP access. For regular price of a VIP, its $ 12 a month and it’ll give you $ 3 a game shoe rentals are free. I have my own bowling ball and shoes. But it’s pretty nice for people that don’t have their own shoes.
The bowling alley feels a little outdated compared to jib lanes. Prices are listed on their website. Very empty during the day but at night time business really picks up. You might want to make reservations otherwise you might have to wait a long time.
I like that the bowling alley has it’s own parking lot both in the front and the back of the bowling alley. Ample room for cars and convenient located neither the highway. Not a great location though if you don’t drive.

Ok not a bad place… food is below avg but edible I guess… the place looks really really dated from the carpet the moment you walk in… till the sign that says cash only!!! are you kidding me??? do they know what year it is? ???the lanes break down often so if your paying by hour not the place to be… but if your a seasoned bowler looking to get a few games in you would appreciate this place. it’s old school… it’s your with a party or big group just looking to have a good time… maybe not the place for you… try jib lanes… there much better…

Only bowling lane in Flushing, secluded in an area next to the Whitestone expressway, and a far… far…far walk from Main St Flushing, dirty, dark, noisy on weekends with kids running around, and Specials are on weekdays or late nights. Yeah my expression wasn’t a positive one. It’s great that there is a bowling alley near the movie theaters so after the movies you can stop by and play a game or two.

I don’t bowl regularly and am not in much of a position to weigh in this place relative to other bowling allies, except to say this struck me as very ‘old school’ and traditional as opposed to the glitz and glamour that you get in Manhattan.
That being said after attending one birthday party here our eldest requested his own at Whitestone Lanes. Compared to other kid’s places that host parties we found the pricing acceptable (
). Even more, two of our guests were late to the bowling, so they threw in the 1 – 2 rounds they played for free and only charged for the food — on their own initiative, which I found to be very considerate.
The hostess was wonderful, the event was well-​managed and the kids (around 15 in all, ages 4 – 8) had a blast. They use the bumpers and ramps are also available, so nobody has gutter balls and even the toddlers can bowl. I also found «an hour of bowling» to be perfectly adequate to their attention spans and stamina: they tend to work up an appetite after that first game, so after 60 minutes it’s perfect time to usher them into the party hall for pizza, soda and cake (orange or cranberry juice upon request; beer of course available for the adults at extra charge).
The pizza leaves something to be desired — I’d have to say it’s comparable in quality (or probably a wee bit better) than your «2 Bros $ 1.00 a Slice» locations around Manhattan. But the kids certainly weren’t complaining. They also have additional catered dishes, and the Italian and American subs were decent.
You bring your own cake, but they’ll cut it up, provide the plates and utensils and serve everything. If you’re a parent you can sit back and enjoy.
All in all, the event went off without a hitch and all the kids had a great time. As a parent, I had an enjoyable enough time to consider returning as a family (as well as future birthdays should the kids request it).

This place is horrid. A bouncer in front of a bowling ally?! What is this a club? strippers inside? hidden casinos? MJ tables?! So your telling me I have to pay 20 $ to get in. That will let me play 2 games. What if I came to visit a friend that’s playing? I can’t sit there and hang? or what if I just want to play 1 game! That is absurd and a pat down? I understand that this place isn’t in a safe neighborhood. But I grew up coming here, never having issues. Now with all these sets of rules and regulations. I felt like I was going to a bowling ally at the state penitentiary. Me definitely thinks not to come back!

If you’re looking for service… Well, this isn’t the place for that. For a birthday party to hold 30+ screaming kids ranging from 2 – 5 years old, well, it’s as good as any. 3 hours of non-​stop yapping, rolling of balls, motorcycle video games, cake, pizza and a ton of guests makes for quite a craze and what kid doesn’t like a little bit (lotta bit?) of crazy.
