Being my first visit to an ophthalmologist for a check up I didn’t know exactly what to expect. The people at the front desk were very polite, so I assumed the visit would be uneventful. He checked my eyes for like three minutes with no explanation before or after as to what he was doing. Didn’t bother to tell me how my eyes were, rather he rudely asked why I was here, while shaking his head and laughing as if I was an idiot for wanting to make sure there were no issues with my eyes. They also make you pay before you go in for the check up… wonder why? Because no one would want to pay for such an unpleasant visit. Save yourself money and don’t come here.

He is horrendously condescending and completely unprofessional. My mother went there recently to get a copy of her lens prescription, and he talked down to her like a child saying any other place would be able to get your prescription from her existing lens, and he berated her for trying to get a copy of her prescription that is over a year old. I get it, but he could have told her in a more polite or even professional manner. It didn’t end there though — he literally threw a temper tantrum at his receptionist and asked her if she had a brain. That’s not only unprofessional, but that’s flat out disrespectful, especially in front of patients. My tip: avoid this asshole like the plague.

* If you’re looking for an ophthalmologist for you or your parents and don’t want to read this wall of text, I’d recommend giving this place a shot. I came here to get a second opinion after being evaluated at Dr Kim’s office — he’s the big dog in town when it comes to Korean ophthalmology. Downside to that is that Dr Kim is never at his office, so you’ll end up getting evaluated by an optometrist — NOT a licensed medical doctor. And it’s always packed at Dr. Kim’s office so there’s always a wait(at least an hour). And it’s in the basement so there’s no service. So you either bring a book or stare at Dr. Kim’s portrait on the wall for an hour. Conclusion after my visit here? If you need an ophthalmologist, go here instead. Easy to get an appointment, close to no waiting time, pleasant staff, and good doctor — very down to earth. And you actually get evaluated by an ophthalmologist.
