Kim is amazing! The salon is clean everyone is so nice, great service

I’ve noticed some of the other reviews on here, and I have to say it’s kind of sad. I have never had a bad experience with this salon. The owner, lily is so sweet and really cares about her business. I love love love their pedicures! And I just recently started getting my nails done, because of past bad experiences at other salons, but I am certainly not disappointed with this place. Kim does my nails and she has done such an amazing job! Both of Kim’s children work there (not kids, grown adults) and her son does the best pedicures and her daughter is so attentive and personable and also does a fantastic job. The salon is so clean all of the time. I do recommend making an appointment because sometimes it can get busy. And as a loyal customer, I’d like to let people know to keep in mind that if you have an issue with a job that’s been done, respectfully speak up about it. If you don’t say anything it can’t be made right. Like I said before lily cares. And one technician that isn’t so great doesn’t mean EVERYONE in the salon is like that. Can I add how great it is that there is a Starbucks right by it???

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS SALON! My 13-​year old daughter and I went in for a mani and pedi and got such terrible service. The person that serviced my daughter was so preoccupied that he cut into her cuticle enough to make it bleed. He tried to stop the bleeding and covered it with nail polish. I was on the other side of the salon and wasn’t aware that this happened. The person who was working on my service was so busy talking to her coworker the entire time she was working on my mani/​pedi, which was so rude. After I paid $ 95 for our services, including tip, my daughter informed me what had happened to her finger. I was not happy. The person who serviced her hid in the back of the salon and the only person who would listen to my concern was the receptionist. She said these things happen and it was an accident. I said, we didn’t come here for an accident… we came here to get professional nail services. She didn’t offer an apology or any way to compensate for the damage. I wish I wouldn’t of left a tip and that’s not like me. There are so many other great nail salons in Folsom and this is one that you should walk past and not spend a penny!

When I lived in Folsom, I used to come here all the time to get my nails and toes done, and whenever I come back to visit my mom and I would get pedicures here. Unfortunately after our experience this past Saturday, we won’t be returning.
I have always been a bit weary of this place ever since I walked in to get a pedicure (without having an appointment) and about 15 minutes later a woman walked in who had an appointment. They told her they were busy and to come back in a half hour, and she was understandably frustrated and just left. It seemed very unprofessional of them to take walk-​in customers knowing they had appointments booked.
For this past Saturday, I made the appointment for my mom and I on Wednesday to get two pedicures at 9am on Saturday. We arrived a few minutes early and another woman who also had a 9am appointment was there. There were two employees working and one worked on this other woman and the other started on my mom. I was sitting in a chair next to my mom with my feet soaking and we asked if there was a third employee there to do my toes. The lady working on my mom said «oh yeah! She’s coming!» so we assumed maybe she was in the back room getting ready. 9:15 rolls around… nothing. 9:20… we asked where she was. They said «she’s on her way!» and then we start getting frustrated. Why not tell us right off the bat that she was running late? They were telling us «oh, she’s on her way, she just had to go to the bank. She’s two minutes away.»
By now, it’s 9:30. They start calling, and we realize they haven’t actually spoken to the woman running late, just her daughter, who is not with her. So, basically, they don’t know where she is or when she’ll arrive. My mom and I had both told them at the beginning of our appointment that we wanted specialty pedicures, but at this point, with my mom’s half-​done and mine not even started, we didn’t have time to both get specialty pedicures (we had made early appointments for a reason, and, to be honest, we didn’t want to pay them more). My mom told them this, and the lady doing her pedicure started to get agitated. She was saying that she already got the stuff ready, and it would be okay, and we were like, no! We don’t want them anymore! I’m sorry you got it ready, but we also were promised 9am appointments. My mom had to tell her three times she didn’t want the specialty pedicure and then, a few minutes later, she started gathering the materials for the specialty pedicure anyway. It was INCREDIBLY unprofessional that she wouldn’t listen to us and seemed determined to do this much more expensive pedicure, when she should have been apologizing for the fact that I have now been soaking my feet in dirty water for upwards of 45 minutes. After the fourth time, she huffily agreed to do only the basic for us.
The woman who was late finally showed up at 9:45am. She apologized… and then sat down at the front of the store and started reading the appointment book. I said, wait, is she going to do my pedicure or what? Finally she came and gave me a quick pedicure, even doing a fast version of the specialty pedicure I had originally asked for but only paying for the basic.
The entire episode was bizarre and unprofessional, and we felt that the staff was rude to us even in the wake of their error. To book three 9am appointments and not ensure you have three staff members working is absolutely ridiculous. The most annoying part was the lying about when she would arrive– for 45 minutes she was two minutes away somehow, and then to try to force these $ 60 pedicures on us after the whole debacle was beyond unprofessional. Though I always enjoy the mani/​pedis I’ve gotten here, and some of the staff members are nice, my mom and I will never return here.

The ladies that did our pedicure paid great attention to detail and we left with extremely soft decorated feet. It took about an hour for our pedicure and they were skillful in the nail designs

My sister and I went here the week of Fourth of July on 7÷2÷15. We came in later in the day around 6:30 or so and we both asked for a full set gel manicure and pedicure. Now first impression of the place is that it is extremely clean, and has a nice upscale environment, which was good to see since their prices are much higher than many other nail salons in the Folsom area. The lady that did the manicure of my sister and I was extremely friendly, and the lady that did my pedicure, which was a much younger lady, was extremely nice and sociable as well (sorry forgot both of their names), however I wish our experience was as nice as they were. First off the older lady that did the manicure of my sister and I rushed through them extremely fast, I understand that we did come in later in the day, (but we did not leave until 9:00 at night) but for their prices you would think they would have done better quality. After we left we quickly noticed how both of our polishes were not evenly put on, and even one of my sisters nails was put on crooked! After only 3 DAYS my nails are cracked and they look TERRIBLE! For both my sister and I getting gel manicures and pedicures are final price was $ 155!!! So I am extremely disappointed that after less than a week at that price my nails are cracked and one already broke! While my sisters were badly done. I loved the girl that did my pedicure, she was nice and her work is very clean, they also have great packages but they are pricey, however the jewels on my sisters toes fell off after only 1 day. If this place wants to stay in business they need to step their game up or lower their prices, their are many nail places in Folsom that are much cheaper and do much, much, better work. I only recommend this place for pedicures, but everything else you should avoid them at all costs!

Love this and the other Folsom location. Lily always squeezes me into her schedule and sends me off on my busy day. Theses nails would never look this good without her !

Went withmy mother in law. The mani/​pedi was ok for me. They left nail polish all over my fingers and didn’t fix it. Oh well. The biggest thing was that the lady who did my mother in laws nails was very rude and very rough. Then, didn’t even put color on her nails and WALKED AWAY and started on another customer. So rude. The staff is extremely unorganized and the receptionist was the rudest person in the building. Absolute worst attitude ever. Can’t believe this place has a good rating. Worst nail salon I’ve ever been to. Will Never come here again.

This was my first attempt at trying a new salon since I am new to the area. I was very impressed with Lily and her work. The salon is absolutely gorgeous ! I will definitely be returning.

I am going to continue using Excel Nails. Their prices are great and they do a great job! I got an acrylic manicure and they made sure my nails looked wonderful before I left. They were also able to take my appointment same-​day. I prefer calling to make sure they have a time slot for me than to walk-​in, but that’s with any nail salon.

Love Lily and her girls. Been coming to Excel Nails for 5+ years, both salons. Like anywhere there are sometimes people I might not see again, but Lily always takes care of it. Highly recommend.
