History

Established in 1998.

Shut up & Dance originally opened at 17 Forest Avenue in 1998. After the building owner lost the property to the bank, and the bank wanted to double the rent, I decided to go «gypsy style». I taught at a different location each day of the week including Moraine Park in Fond du lac and Beaver Dam, Marian College, City Hall in Waupun, Wempner School of Dance and at a local Night Club. Monthly dance parties were held at the Elks Club Ballroom. In 2005 I opened another studio, but in the great flood of 2008 we lost everything. The lease was up so we again relocated and the new space while much larger and nicer, was not in a good location and after another 3 year lease we went back to the Gypsy lifestyle :) In the summer of 2015, the opportunity arose to once again lease the property at 17 Forest Ave. which still had my original mirrors and wood floor in place. So I am «Home», and Shut up & Dance has come full circle to it’s original location.
