Tap House

Great beer, good happy hour prices and great location in Forest Hills. I like to come here when I don’t feel like going all the way into New Yoke Citay form my Kew Gardens residence. The food is pretty good but nothing crazy, your standard pub fare. The waitress has a cool Irish accent and always calls you «love» which is nice if you feel you are «un» loved!

I’ve been here plenty times to pre-​game or to kill time before heading to my final destination. I see why I never wrote a review.
Nothing about this bars stands out to me. It’s a typical place that people frequent to get their buzz on sort of like me.
As I walked pass the unique boutiques and chain stores I clenched my Tory B. and focused on finding a decent bar. My feet led me here. Tap House is relatively cheap. I wasn’t to keen on spending an arm and leg. It’s extremely easily to do that in Forest Hills.
I asked the shark teeth bartender for the drink specials. I couldn’t make up my mind. Ten minutes later I decided to go with a Peach Martini. She tells me she can’t make it.

Unsatisfied with her answer I decided to order a Long Island. I haven’t had a LIT in like…(for…e.v.e.r). In the interim something told me to peruse the photos on Unilocal for TH.

Good beer selection, ghetto crowd. Drug deals and fights will for sure keep me away. Maybe during the day it’s ok?

I’m so disappointed! I always swore by tap house’s finger food, only this time to make myself look bad. The waitress was nice but it seemed like the bar was more of a priority than the seated guests ordering food. It’s not even busy today… it was frustrating to flag others down for assistance. most importantly the food looks good but tastes like garbage! Even the mozerella sticks which I find very difficult for them to taste bad. I texted my friend and she said she stopped. going because the food is different (wish I knew.) If I was a drinker I’d give this place 3 stars because when I used to drink it was fun on friday nights. For a non drinker and someone who was looking simply to eat good finger food it was not a great experience. $ 46 for food I couldn’t finish at all

The music is good the service is poor. You have to get your own drinks at the bar. No one comes by to check on you. It was my first time here… guess for a local bar it isn’t too bad.

Great after work spot if you’re looking for an inexpensive and no judgment. very welcoming kind of bar

Great drinks and food in a loud and crowded setting, but if you’re lucky you can catch it on a slow day. Brunch is amazing too.

The Tap House has a very friendly and lively atmosphere, the bartenders, Dona and Ben are great and very easy to talk to. This place is ideal when you just want to have a few drinks and great appetizers !!

Came here for wings. 10 for $ 10. Compared to Manhattan spots where 10¢ wings are common, this is grossly overpriced. I tried the medium and spicy ones and liked them, but I decided to be courageous and try the honey BBQ flavor and didn’t like it much. Also tried the nachos and mozzarella sticks — not bad, but I wouldn’t order myself.
There were 6 of us and we fit ourselves at a table in the back. Service was spotty. I did like that the temperature was perfect. In the words of Miss Congeniality, not too hot, not too cold.

Lol I was honestly probably drunk when I wrote my last review for this place so here is a more accurate review.
Yes, bartenders are friendly and beer is decently priced. But the crowd is awful, this seems to be a gathering spot for all the f*ckboys of forest hills. Been here numerous times and every time without fail, the way these guys act around women is disturbing, like you’re a steak. Doesn’t matter to them who you’re there with.
Also the last time I was here at the end of the summer, their kitchen door was propped open and my friends and I saw at least 2 rats running around. Other patrons saw them as well. Sooo, I would not suggest eating here.

Just a quick update. Really like the crowd during the day, and the bartender is great. Mostly locals, but a few folks wander in for a quick drink or food.
Not a bar eater, but what I did see looked good. The Guinness was poured correctly, which is a big plus, and is the correct temperature. Not too cold, but not warm, just right.
Pop in during the holidays when Austin Street foot traffic can be a pain.
Nice place to warm up and chill out for a bit.

The storefront changes that span the most popular portions of Austin Street come in and out like the ebbing and flow of the tide in dormant waters.
Any shore breakers will reveal restaurants with outdated attitude and ever dulling menus, perhaps a clothier with clothes a little too Eurocentric for us penny loafer conservative Forest Hilligans. (Petland Discounts that predated Footloose the club that predated Footloose the movie still holds firm ground — –a worthy point of unique interests and Austin St nostalgia if nothing else)
Then there are the success stories, champions of both industries that day after day and year after year crank out a successful product and remain a fixture upon the local scene.
I’ve stopped in Tap House a few times just to wet my beak with the notion of a quick return to partake in the menu, and this past Sunday I did return — and could kick myself for not returning much sooner. Guess I’ll just have to make up for lost time then won’t I?
Narragansett on tap is a beautiful sight to behold, a fine structured beer with a great price tag to start with. Leading me to dabble in a few of the other craft specialty beers served up at the perfect temperature with a smile that can move mountains.
Act Two was the eating portion of my happily gluttonous football Sunday, where I like to adhere to a strict regimented diet of Wings, Sliders, and Burgers (& Beer). Each preformed a bursting flavor of freshness like an overture of Chopin as I was a chomping. (It’s supposed to rhyme)
The wings were plump, meaty and cooked just the way a professional sports bar attendee would hope to receive, unlike the God da#n Jets who cant catch or recieve a Gdamn cold, let alone a quick slant or down and out pattern. Uuugh.
The patty on the burger smacked of flavor and the sliders rounded off a meal that far exceeds the star reflection I was shocked to see upon my initial Check In.

Boasting 10 flat screen TV’s, for a quaint Austin street Pub, I thought that was quite impressive. Upon walking in I noticed the left side wall was the original brick work, imagining that this could have been a speak easy at one point in time.
The yellow right wall was adorned with ample amounts of sports pics, memorabilia & mirrors of typical bar/​pub ads.
The music that was playing had a nice Juke joint jazz feel… Ella & Louie relaxed my wary mind from the previous nights stress.
They had a fully stocked bar with 20 beers on Draft which would make all your choices quite easy. Since i was pretty hungry at the time, me and my companion decided to have some pub grub. We ordered the buffalo Shrimp Sliders. Three hand breaded shrimp tossed in a buffalo sauce with melted cheese, though Something seemed to be lacking in the flavor department.
The Dry rubbed-​Bob Marley Jerk chicken wings were definitely the highlight of this meal. The side sauce of cucumber, cilantro and other island spices took me to a warm place, every bite… deliciously stinging my tongue and Bob Marley’s spirit saying «Dont worry, about a thing, cuz every little thing, is gonna be Alright».
And everything was just that.
I washed my meal down with a nice light italian Peroni which added to all of the flavors in my mouth.
I really liked this place… and suggest you try the Bob-​Marley wings on your visit, come on step away from the typical hotter than hot wings (which they have as well)…and live alittle!

You would be surprised there aren’t that many pure sports bars in queens, given how passionate New Yorkers are about their sports.
Tap House is a very homey sports bar with everything you want and need from one. Finger foods, large screen televisions and over 20 different beers on tap.
I always get their wings: sweet thai, bbq and hot. These wings are above average for your typical sports bar. Good loaded fries and nachos.
Recently I went during one of the post season Met games, whole bar was going crazy with every pitch that really makes you enjoy the game so much more, 50 cent wing specials all night, and if you’re a any kind of new york fan, this is your bar. Cant give it 5 stars because can use bigger TVs and better lighting hopefully they will do that soon.

I met up with friends for a ladies night and I was surprised at how much fun we had here. So much that we first had drinks, had dinner next door, then came back. The drinks were good. What made it even better was the musica. They had a dj playing all those nice hits. From hip hop, to r&b to reggaeton. We were all jammin’. It was casual and a chill bar. I’ll be back.

Haven’t been here in a while so an update is in order.
The space is still the same. Divey atmosphere but not super divey. Service is good. But the draught or draft have been upgraded and some of my favorites are on board. The food has also gotten better from what I recalled.
The Draft Stars —
1) Singlecut Jan — no explaining needed
2) Ommegang Summer Ale — I’ll drink almost anything Ommegang except for those dreaded collaborations with Game of Thrones style beer. Those are just nasty. Love the show, skip those beers.
3) Duvel Single — Duff.
4) Magic Hat #9 — YES
5) Cider Boys Peach Apple Cider — OH YES. This is one of my favorite ciders. If you haven’t had any Cider Boys Cider, you are missing out. Not kidding.
Now, onto to the foods. The Wednesday $ 3 taco deal are still a little pricey especially for Queens. I pay the same in Manhattan, just saying.
However, the presentation, taste and quality… is just NOM. Ordering 1 steak taco and 2 fish tacos was probably the best idea I had that day only second to deciding not to get on the 6 train during weekday rush hour.
This bar is never really packed except during football nights or major sport events but even if they were, you would probably come here anyway. You might just come here to wait and grab drinks while waiting to get seated at 5 Burros next door. Either way, you have made a right decision and you deserve a beer or 5.

Tap House is as nondescript as it gets, and that’s what keeps us coming back. No two nights are the same at Tap House — depending on when you stroll in, you end up at a karaōke bar, a dance club with a DJ, a sports bar, or just a quiet neighborhood watering hole. There isn’t much in the way of décor, but when you have 20 beers on draft, a generally diverse and eclectic crowd, and attentive staff, who cares if there aren’t exposed brick walls, fancy tables, or unique art from the latest Bushwick artist?
Did I mention they have 20 beers on draft, and most of them aren’t from the Bud/​Miller/​Coors family (although they’re available as well)? At less than $ 20 a pitcher, you can get a solid selection of beer including Magic Hat #9, Purple Haze, Lagunitas, and rotating seasonal brews.
In addition to the beer selection, the food at Tap House is also solid: their wings, chicken tenders, burger, and waffle fries are all A+. Fair warning, the buffalo sauces above hot are solidly spicy, and if you’re faint of heart, venture no further than the «abusive» sauce! My wife and I are big fans of their chicken tenders, and when tossed in their buffalo sauce, deliver a perfect crispy yet juicy chicken tender we can’t seem to find anywhere else. The burger is generous in size, full of flavor, and gives you what you would want without unnecessary hassle… get it on the pretzel bun, and stick to the basics (lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese).
There are a lot of options in Forest Hills, but none are as consistent: quality food, awesome beer, superb service, and a nice crowd. If you want cocktails and drinks that end in «tini»…why are you at a place called TAP House? Stick to beer, or a liquor and mixer drink and call it a day. They’re not a gastropub, but they stick to the basic bar food and they do it well. Considering most of the spots on Austin street charge Midtown prices at central Queens quality, Tap House is a nice retreat from the hot mess that Forest Hills can be.

Heres the place that turned class mates/​future beauticians into life long friends! We would all come to hang out here after class and we just had a great time! We went to the beauty school couple blocks away. Since we went after class, we’d always be there about 4ish. The place was clean, the appetizers were hot and fresh and it wasn’t packed. We normally ordered the beef sliders that came with French fries. It’s pretty big for sliders and two can share comfortably.
Our bartender was great. She had us laughing always! She even made us a special drink that we pretty much made up. We would bond over clients and discuss topics in cosmotology while sippin on a cosmopolitan! The one thing we always missed about the school being over, besides graduating, was being able to see each other everyday, hanging out at that bar, after school. We all lived in exact opposite of all 5 burros but the tap house brought us together! It had just the right atmosphere!

I am all for small, dive bars. Not every bar needs to be a hipster bar. Needless to say, this bar is dirty, and extremely unpleasant.
The drink selections are limited, seating becomes awkward, and I wouldn’t dream of ordering food here. A couple of months ago, my boyfriend and I brought some friends here just to see the bar to have an idea of what is in the Forest Hills area. The primary reason why we came here was to listen to some music. We remembered how they had a live DJ after a visit months prior. To be honest, we came here just for a good laugh. We were going to do some people watching, listen to some songs we never listen to, have a drink or two, and leave. Unfortunately, the DJ was not even worth the visit.
We came here after a late dinner, around 10pm. The floors were extremely sticky. After leaving, we had that annoying sound coming from the soles of our shoes. My friend had lipstick on her glass (she wasn’t even wearing any lipstick). The crowd that comes here is very skeptical. If you like to get inappropriate attention from drunk losers, without substantial jobs, this is the place for you.
So many great places on Austin street. Save yourself some drama, sanity, and go somewhere with some dignity.

Pretty good place with a good selection of beers. They dont have a beer or drinks menu though which is a little strange to me.
Their fries are delicious!

Coming here for an after dinner birthday drink for the besties last year in her twenties was a good idea. The drinks were good and that dramatically expensive. I like that.
Our waitress was super friendly. She did do a buy if a disapearring act in the beginning (after the first round) but came back around and was attentive from then on out.
The place was nicely packed for a Saturday night (after the Thanksgiving holiday) and played pretty good music. Very uptempo vibe for sure. And the music was a good combination of different genres. I liked the variation for it being a cool chill bar.
I like that they highlight the draft selection on the mini chalkboards. They have some strong contenders up there too like the Speakeasy Prohibition and the founders. I would definitely encourage someone making a random selection and going with the vibe.
Overall a good bar with nice alcohol selection and the food isn’t bad either!
