The concept for The Grill originated over thirty years ago, when owner Oleg’s father built a kebab grill made of stone in their backyard. Today’s restaurant is a family tradition brought to the whole Forest Hills community. You’re invited to unwind with friends or family over a brunch, lunch, dinner, or drinks. The Grill’s menu boasts something for everyone, from house specialties like Lam Shish Kebab marinated in homemade spices to the Seafood Extravaganza with its array of king prawn, Chilean sea bass, scallops, and salmon, or the vegetarian-​friendly kebab with fresh tomatoes, sweet mini peppers, and zucchini.

History

Established in 2013.

The concept for The Grill originated back in 1980s when the owner Oleg Kaz, settled in Forest Hills. Oleg’s passion for delicious homemade food grilled on sticks was influenced by his father Alec who built a Kebab Grill made of stone in the backyard of their house. Working in the food industry for over 15 years, Oleg always dreamed of opening a Mediterranean restaurant in the Forest Hills famous restaurant row, in the vicinity of Austin Street. The dream became reality for Oleg, and now he is inviting you to enjoy the ultimate Mediterranean dining experience in the heart of Forest Hills.

Have come here many times and the food and service are always amazing. Brunch can’t be beat. Cheap and great food and plentiful drinks. The bearded waiter here is the most attentive amazing wait person ever but everyone is super helpful and great. Give it a shot, you won’t regret it.

I’ve been here twice for weekend brunch. They are the friendliest staff, and have unlimited mimosas. The food is great, including the steak and eggs. I’d stay away from the sangria and bellinis because they taste like grape juice and peach syrup respectively, but definitely go for a great affordable bottomless brunch.
Update: This place is a 5 star brunch place. Hands down.

Great place and friendly staff! My friends mostly live in the Forest Hills area and have been here before, and this was my first time here (but I can definitely envision myself coming back if I’m looking for an upscale intimate setting in the area).
We started off at the bar and we ordered the cilantro martinis (Indian girls love their cilantro — and these did not disappoint!). I liked that the bartender asked us what type of vodka we wanted in there and they were fairly strong. When we were seated at the table, we ended up ordering 2 appetizers. The homemade Mediterranean spreads (absolutely delicious combination of babaganoush, hummus, and tzatziki), they gave us a lot of pita which I loved. Calamari with the dipping sauces was amazing too (a lot better than other places for sure).
I ordered another drink which had jalapeño tequila in it (forget the name), and I didn’t really like it as much as I liked the cilantro martini (should have stuck to that). My entrée was really well-​made too. I kept it simple by just ordering a chicken shish kebab and mashed potatoes as a side. I wish the entrée came with tzatziki sauce or some type of sauce for my chicken, but other than that I finished every morsel of it.
My friends liked the chocolate soufflé dessert (but I was just way too full from all the food we ate), and stuck with coffee. The bill wasn’t bad at all considering we ordered apps, entrees, drinks, and dessert! Might want to try some of their seafood next time…

WORST DECISION EVER!
I made the huge mistake of ordering from the Grill for lunch with 2 friends.
The Grill will make you look bad and leave you very hungry. The portions were miniscule and the shrimp and salmon were burnt. Horribly disappointing.
We ordered salmon kebab, grilled calamari salad and seafood extravaganza. I was embarrassed when my friends got their meal. Their mouths were open in surprise at the small portions. The salmon kebab came with 4 cubes of salmon and a pile of fries, hardly enough for a grown man to eat and cost $ 25. My friend saved half her calamari salad ($ 14) for her hubby because the salmon kebab was so unsatisfactory.
The seafood extravaganza was described as «jumbo shrimp, black sea bass, salmon and scallops, marinated with our own seafood spices and herbs. «
My order of the seafood extravaganza came with one scallop, one burnt shrimp, and 2 cubes of salmon. There was no black sea bass. The pile of sauteed greens filled half the box. Definitely not worth $ 27. Huge rip off. No extravanganza here!
If you want seafood, definitely go to Black sea fish instead.

This place has mediocre food, high prices for small portions.
The seafood extravaganza was like a meal for a small child. The scallop was well cooked but single shrimp was burnt. The salmon had burnt edges.
Save yourself the time, heartache and trouble. Never order from here.

I came here one weeknight last week with my boyfriend. The ambience was very romantic. It’s a pretty restaurant with dimmed lights. We ordered a bottle of Malbec, a suggestion from the server. We liked it a lot. For appetizers, we had baked clams and a ceviche. The ceviche was pretty small and expensive. 19 dollars which I thought I was a little expensive compared to other places in Brooklyn. The appetizers were very good, though. For dinner, I had a seafood rice pilaf. It had shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels and chorizo. It was delicious. My boyfriend had the prawn scampi. He liked it a lot. The service here was excellent. Overall, I would definitely return when in Forest Hills.

False advertisement on «all you can eat mussels». Sign says «all day monday» but it’s only available until 7pm (at the bar). I guess it was a blessing in disguise because I ended up ordering the regular mussels and it was overcooked, old and not good. Definitely would not have had a second plate. Friend ordered gnocchi and it was overly sour. Food is not worth the price!

I just had THE BEST LUNCH EVER! I had the prefix lunch for $ 14 and ate alfresco since it was so nice out. Their service was spot on. The complimentary bread and EVOO dip is amazing. The EVOO is great quality and infused with fresh herbs. Yum! I started with calamari that was breaded so well and not greasy at all. Followed by grilled salmon seasoned perfectly paired with kale sautéed in fresh garlic. I seriously enjoyed my meal. Then if that wasn’t enough for $ 14, I ended with fresh mango sorbet. Perfect ending. I felt like I went on a mini foodcation. Check this spot out for happy hour too. Great drinks and tapas for $ 5. I think I found my new spot in Forest Hills! I’ll definitely be back!

Chill environment, drinks are delicious and happy hour is 7 days 4 – 7! It doesn’t get 5 stars only because the bartender/​manager told us that we HAD to finish our happy hours drinks at the bar before moving to a table, which to me is crazy since we are still consuming and we wanted to move to a table to have dinner anyways we ended up finishing our drinks and not having dinner other than that. The seafood was fresh and perfectly seasoned! I guess we’ll try again some other time

Nice décor & good music. received menus fairly quickly, sangria came out reasonably fast, & good corn bread muffins. That was about it. Water glass wasn’t filled until much later & food came out 40 – 45 mins later. We ordered steak & eggs & a salad. The restaurant wasn’t full & waiter made no attempt to come by and state why the food was taking so long. Steak & eggs decent but toast was missing. Salad was so dry it bordered not being dressed. Prices high for portion sizes. Don’t believe I wud return for another visit.

Great place for a boozy brunch! I love the décor and the service.
$ 17 for one entrée and unlimited brunch cocktails, including mimosas, Bloody Mary, bellini, screwdriver, sangria, and champagne. The mimosas are watered down but the bellinis and screwdrivers were strong. Sadly, the fruit-​infused vodka drinks at the bar are not included. They looked pretty good in the infusers.
The entrees by themselves range from $ 11 – 16. We had the Fish & Chips (potato fries) and the Steak & Eggs. Not the best brunch food I have had but pretty decent. They start you off with corn muffins and they were delicious! I would come back for those muffins and drinks!

The Grill boasts super romantic décor, so it’s an awesome choice for an intimate date. They offer traditional Greek fare, and I found the food delightfully tasty. The Grill’s portion sizes are rather large and, dare I say, pretty cheap for the area (a definite plus!).
They start you off by offering complimentary fresh bread and oil. For my dinner and drink, I had the White Sangria which was strong and sweet and a Veggie Kebob platter that packed great flavor. My husband ordered a Shrimp Kebob platter with mashed potatoes and he ended up licking his fingers (mind you, he’s a picky eater). He mentioned that the shrimp we’re really garlicky (in a good way) and that the mashed potatoes were velvety smooth.
The only thing that we weren’t crazy about was the Baklava. It had too many nuts and honey for our taste (but some may see that as a good thing). This place deserves a solid 4.5 for great service, great ambiance, and delicious food.

Made the impromptu decision to go on a brunch date with my book yesterday, and could not have been happier that I chose The Grill. My Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was delicious, and the unlimited bellinis (over the course of an hour) really hit the spot. Unlike other unlimited cocktail brunch spots where you get your first cocktail and proceed to search for your server for the next hour, The Grill has wonderful waiters like Luis, who magically showed up every time my drink was just about finished (and stretched my unlimited hour to the max – Thank you, Luis!). As I was a bit on the late side for my brunch, mood lighting started to set in towards the end which made it hard to see my date in the dark. Luis once again came to my rescue with a romantic candle so I could see what I was reading!
If you’re looking for a fun brunch spot in Forest Hills that has a great scene, but is not so packed that you’re being jostled (because no one wants that), try The Grill!

I popped a cherry here. My raw oyster cherry. NOT a fan, but I’m sure it’s not The Grill’s fault because everyone else seemed to love them.
I came here for a quick happy hour stop on Saturday. Love that they have happy hour on the weekends. It didn’t seem super busy but it took a little while to get service at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and he made an excellent apple martini. We tried a few small plates ($ 6 during happy hour!) which weren’t bad, but I thought they were lacking. This seems to be a trend for me at tapas places, I guess I just can’t get used to it. The sliders were super tiny — yes I know sliders are tiny burgers, but these were super duper tiny. I’d probably come here again for happy hour and order an entrée. Or maybe just for the $ 5 drinks!

I waited a bit to be seated but service seems good so far. Good olive oil and bread. I decided to order prix fixe for $ 31. Baked clams, Cornish hen and tiramisu. Baked clams were tasty. I was expecting the usual Italian style but these had a crispy panko crust. The Cornish hen lacked some spices but it was served with excellent garbanzo beans with capers. The tiramisu is served with chocolate ice cream. Very good meal! One slight negative– there was a birthday party in the back and little girls kept running up to my table, playing and pushing each other. I complained after the second time and it happened again and again. As a result I decided to take my entrée to go rather than finishing it here. Obviously nothing was done.

I had their chicken shish kabab with a small portion of their exotic rice. Delicious! Very tasty! Chicken was well marinated.
A big plus on presentation!
