Located in the old LaZboy store. Passed this place several times, noting it had become a thrift store. A sign in front states the store being associated with a veterans’ association. I assumed it was run by the DAV or another veteran non-profit — NOTSO! DONOTDONATETOTHESEPEOPLE. I stopped in last week to check out the store(looking for some side tables) and to see about donating to a non-profit. I didn’t see any tables that were appealing to me(and the rest were overpriced). I did, however, see a large number of old organs. An employee was coming out of the backroom and I asked her why they had so many organs. She said they were«donated from estates», and«nobody wants them». I did see one that I thought was appealing, a small wooden cabinet/table type. It was broken(no sound came out) and even the foot pedals were unattached to the billows(it was a melodian). I did move the billows, and still no sound. I was priced at $ 600! I thought — this has to be a mistake. I went to the front and asked someone to look at the organ. The employee said she would call the«owner» and told her the organ didn’t work. I could hear the owner through the phone replying«it was $ 1,200 just yesterday», and«I just marked it down»(there was no markdown on the tag). When she hung up I told the employee that a non-working organ/melodian isn’t worth a whole lot — since it doesn’t work. She told me that«the owner was an antiques dealer so she knows the price of things». I stopped her. I asked her if this was a veterans store? She said it was. I asked her«then why is there an owner»? She then told me that the store was owned by an antiques dealer, and then she said the owner wanted to «help out veterans». I asked her what«helping out veterans» meant. She said«I think the owner donates to the veterans». I asked what the percentage was. She said she didn’t know and acted flustered. I thought this was weird. And that this was false-advertising. I’m thinking of calling the BBB to see if they can do anything about making this store take down that veterans sign. Please do not donate to this store. They are not connected to the VA. Donate to a non-profit where all the profits go to help the needy.
