Wanted to avoid chains and eat at a locally owned place off the beaten path and Unilocal delivered. A bit spendy ($ 22 – 27 for dinner entres). A bit upscale bar environment inside. Menu includes upscale entrees and downscale pizzas and Mac n cheese or spaghetti for kids.

The truth is I haven’t even been here yet. Everytime I try to go they have closed early. They say that they are open until 11 while the kitchen closes at 10. Tonight when I walked up to the front door at 9:25 PM the open sign was on, however every chair in the restaurant was stacked excluding 3 or 4 chairs occupied by patrons. It was completely uninviting and obviously I went some place else. I live across the street so I would love to make this place a regular spot, but I can’t get behind an establishment that doesn’t offer consistency.

We had another fabulous meal at Domenic’s last night. Friends from Eaton joined us with their two teenage daughters. They had not been prior. We all had something different and only my plate had something left to take home… I needed to savor the taste again for lunch today. Dominic’s has never let us down, from staff to food it’s 5 star. Seeing the owner there regularly chatting with customers is so important. If you have not been to Domenic’s you are missing something great! If you are looking for that Chicago/​Milwaukee Midwest, small Italian steakhouse feel… this is it! Mary Cook

I have nothing bad to say. It was just amazing. Visiting from Golden and wanted to try all new places. The house salad was incredible with a lemon vinaigrette that beautifully complimented the candied almonds. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni, meatball, red peppers, spinach and fresh garlic. It was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Aesthetically it was a little dark and the entrance wasn’t very inviting. But dang, the food over shadowed that!

The stand outs were the scallops (cooked perfectly, so flavorful), the lamb special (again, cooked perfectly and super flavorful, super tender), and the pork chop (I didn’t even like pork chops until I had this one, THAT good), and Shrimp and Grits. Everything was good, tho. It was hard to say who ordered the worst thing.
Our server was great, she was perfectly attentive. She didn’t seem to mind when one of us had a few too many martinis and got a little loud (for once it wasn’t me). Thank you for that!
Overall I had a wonderful meal and couldn’t have asked for anything more of this establishment. I will definitely be back next time I am in town (and I will be ordering the Mac N Cheese!).

We were in Fort Collins for the day and decided to try Dominic’s for a low-​key dinner for two. We certainly were not disappointed. It’s not a large place and all of the tables were taken when we arrived at 6pm on a Saturday. However, we found seats at the bar and were treated to great wine, great food, and great service — a winning combination! The owner stopped over for a chat, as did one of the elderly local celebrities. It seems we were sitting next to a photo of her as a child sitting with her brother on the running board of a Model T Ford. Dominic’s provided a very comfortable atmosphere tonight for young and old alike. We will most certainly return.

I was scared, all the tables were completely empty upon my arrival, certainly not a good sign, as any well seasoned traveler such as myself knows well.. . BUT, it was 3PM on a Wednesday afternoon — a mere hour before the roll out of the dinner menu. Within minutes tables filled up like a salmon spawning ground proving this is a winning establishment.
I have to say, I ordered the mussels — they were phenomenal!!! Very tasty and tender. Better than mussels I’ve tasted in renowned chef Cat Cora’s kitchen. My compliments to the chef!
I couldn’t decide between a couple of wines, and was happily provided with tasters so I could decide.
Great food — great waitstaff! Keep up the good work.

Food was SO delicious. We ordered the appetizer trio, butternut squash gnocchi, and the pork chop meal. All amazing. Service was quick even though it busy. Very glad we gave this place a chance after read a few negative reviews.
Can’t wait to go back!

My review is strictly about the pizza and the value. I sat at the bar and the service was top notch, although the drinks quite overpriced (8 or 9 bucks for a well Martini?) The pizza is brick oven — which had me excited — but it was a bit thick and doughy for that cooking technique. I thought the sauce was nothing special and lacked anything really special. Give the premium price I dont think Ill get that again. again, the service was great… the prices and food not so good

Best pizza in town, and that’s coming from two very serious pizza lovers. We got the white lightning pizza with various toppings and it tasted exactly like the best pizza I had in Venice, Italy. Props to the chef! And great service!

Great ambiance and wonderful food. I got the butternut gnocchi and it was wonderful! It had mushrooms and spinach as well. The sauce was creamy and rich, but was well balanced with the gnocchi which were toothsome and perfectly cooked. The pieces of butternut squash were caramelized and well cooked without being mushy. Very good. Would definitely recommend and return.

Dominic’s is a great change of pace from the Italian restaurants downtown. The ambiance is nice without being too formal. The tappas were delicious and I enjoy the outside patio people watching. The happy hour is pretty darn reasonable. Out of 3 meals I’ve never had anything but a positive experience.

I wouldn’t call this place a secret, but it kind of is. It is the gem of southern Fort Collins amongst restaurants if you ask me. Daily risotto, filet mignon, fish specials which have never disappointed. Not a huge menu but the quality is legit. Has a decent wine list and tapas type appetizers if that’s your thing. Also, don’t forget to save room for the Marscapone Cheesecake. It would be a mistake not too. Only things I can knock on it is the Ceasar salad is kinda blah and inside can get a lil chilly.

The Space Mountain of restaurants.
It is a rare occasion that I get amazing food on top of great service. Truly one of the best of not «the» best restaurant in Fort Collins.
The food here is simply of another word. They offer 4 differ chef specials that very day to day. The Chefs Special Tuna Filet was just amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned tuna filet served with a side of potato cakes and poached spinach. I will be having dreams about this dish.
The service was top notch, the waitress checked in regularly. I never had an empty glass and the food was delivered with a matter of minutes. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Overall I can’t say enough about this place. You cannot go wrong coming here. On a quick note it does get very busy on Friday night. I recommend this place for all occasions.

2.5 stars really. The Husband and I came here last night for dinner. We’re out of towners and are staying in Fort Collins for a few nights. Domenic’s looked interesting enough and we’re all about trying out «hidden gems» and non chainy restaurants. But after dinner last night we were stumped as to how this place is a 4 star here on Unilocal.The ambiance and décor were great and I give that aspect 5 stars! But other than that, this place is so average. I’m sorry, but everything was forgettable. They were understaffed, so the hostess was the waitress too, and the poor girl was running around ragged. The bartender also had to deliver food. There were tables without their drinks and I could hear some people getting annoyed. Another waitress would have helped tremendously. We were told Sundays are usually quiet… but not that night! Anyhow, on to the food… we ordered drinks and the crab cake appetizer, the crab cakes came out literally like 3 minutes later. Before the drinks even made it to the table! The crab cakes clearly weren’t fresh. They looked like they were made way before hand and just nuked to warm them up, which they were barely warm… At least they had decent flavor. The garlic aioli sauce that came with it was pretty overpowering, but whatev. My Husband ordered the tomato basil bisque and he loved it. Said it was the best part of the meal. For entrees, I ordered the sausage Bolognese and the Husband ordered the pulled chicken salad. He said the flavors didn’t mesh well and he was just eating to get full… my pasta, flavor wise was decent, but the noodles tasted old and the sauce tasted a little stale and microwaved. Maybe it would’ve tasted better hot? Everything was just blah and luke warm… We were hungry so we didn’t complain. The only thing that made me smile about this place is the fact that they had my favorite key lime pie martini on their drink menu, and it wasn’t bad. Even though they seemed a bit understaffed on the wait staff, I just don’t feel that’s what contributed to the mediocre food. We won’t be returning, it just wasn’t good enough.

The meal was expensive for what I received.
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was easy on the eyes and laid out well. Staff was prompt and friendly. I felt my wife and I should have received more wine for the ‘glass’ price listed; about a ¼.
My wife’s lasagna was burnt at one end making it difficult to cut. In addition, we’ve had better lasagna; seem light and fruity. My gnocchi was hard in such a way, I believe it was bought at Trader Joe’s and cooked in boiling water. The gnocchi dish lacked depth and character.
I’m getting disappointed with more of the restaurants in Fort Collins, which I mostly don’t review.
Having located from Southern California, I’m spoiled with Italians making a gnocchi dish and lasagna all from scratch with generous proportions.
So if you want to sit at the bar and have a drink, this maybe the place for you to unwind. But looking for that top notch Italian dish experience, I’m unable to recommend any as of yet in Fort Collins.

Had lunch here on a recent trip to Ft. Collins. It was good. Sat on the patio to take advantage of the beautiful day. There only seemed to be one person working the patrons – the hostess/​waitress – so service was a little slow. Not bad, just a little slow. The food was good. Everyone liked their meals. I had the sale with pulled chicken, which was pretty good. Probably would not order it again though.

While staying in FoCo recently, I was craving good Italian fare. Checked out Unilocal and found Domenics had many good reviews. Though it was across town from where I was staying, I just had to find out for myself if it was good or not.
After driving around in the dark, and following the Google map directions, I finally located in the Kohl’s shopping center. Parking was a breeze.
Being a Thursday night after 7, I found it wasn’t busy at all. There were a few other customers inside, and I was seated quickly.
My waiter was new and got some of the info for the special a little wrong, but it didn’t matter. I ordered the fish special which he said came with broccolini, rice, and a pesto cream sauce. I asked if I could substitute pasta with marinara sauce for the rice, as I was so tired of eating rice recently. He said there would be an up charge but was sure it could be done.
I was quickly given 4 slices of Italian white bread with a spicy olive oil sauce drizzled on top. This was great, as I was really hungry and wasn’t ordering anything to drink. I scarfed them up quickly while I read and waited for my main dish.
When the main dish came, my waiter said there would be no up charge for the pasta substitution. The meal was wonderful, though more expensive than I was expecting. I would have thought maybe around $ 25, but it was was $ 38, before I tipped. Next time I’ll ask for the price before hand.
The service was very good, but then it wasn’t all that busy. Think I’ll try it for Happy Hour next time I’m there.

I came here because of the great Unilocal reviews. I ordered the appetizer scallops (3 ct) and the shrimp and grits which both items were really yummy!!! As usual, my eyes are often bigger than my stomach especially when I skipped lunch so I couldn’t finish my shrimp and grits entrée even though I my mind is totally willing.
BTW, the shrimp and grits entrée has great flavor — nothing better than light fluffy cheesy grits, accompanied by a variety of cut fresh mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes, and bacon, and then topped off with a generous drizzle of a very light cream sauce. Delish!!!

I’ve been to Domenic’s several times over the last few years, mostly for wine flights and/​or a dessert after having dinner elsewhere. I have probably had dinner there too, just nothing was very memorable.
That is to say, until we ate there last night. We had just finished working a 3-​hour wine event and were FAMISHED. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs… but we have plenty of leftovers which is a GREAT thing.
We started with the Seared 3-​ways appetizer ($ 13) which was pretty good. My boyfriend will order scallops almost every time if they’re on the menu so he has come to have a strong opinion about what makes an excellent scallop. Domenic’s scallops were pretty good. They were only lightly seared so they were missing that perfect caramelized crunchiness but they were hot, tender and flavorful. The three additions to the scallops were… interesting. Our favorite was the caramelized onions; delicious. The butternut squash purée was served cold (weird?) but it was tasty. The only weird one was the apple chutney which pretty much tasted like apple pie filling. Too sweet.
We also ordered the Prosciutto and White Truffle mac & cheese ($ 12). First of all, it was a BIG serving — could easily be an entrée. It was tasty — but it was the one item we both agreed we shouldn’t have ordered because 1.) we simply had too much food and 2.) it wasn’t AS GOOD AS the other things we ordered. I personally LOVE truffle oil but I also think the nuance of it has been lost; it’s often overdone and overused. The chef went heavy on the truffle oil with this one. Probably wouldn’t order this one again.
Ohhhh, then the culinary heavens opened up and our pizza was delivered. This was the best part of my night (and did I mention that I had spent the previous three hours drinking and serving wine?! — hands down, this pizza wins out). We ordered the 16″ White Lightning pizza ($ 22 — the smaller size is $ 18, more than twice the pizza for only $ 4…just a heads up) and we added spinach, Italian sausage and artichoke hearts. You guys. This pizza was a religious experience. The crust is crisp and buttery, not limp or soggy. The combination of mozzarella and feta was perfection. It was perfectly garlicky and just a hint of spice from the sausage. I was so disappointed that I had eaten too much of the prosciutto mac & cheese so I was too full to have more than one slice of this amazing pie.
It’s sitting in my fridge — and I’ll just say that I’m pretty excited for lunch.
