A must-​visit Brewery in Fort Collins for sour beer lovers, Funkwerks has a wide variety of sours. From light and fruity to dark and funky, we tried a flight if 6 of the brews. Highly recommend a flight so you got to try a variety. Between myself and BB, we both liked the Dark Prophet the best, but all were enjoyable. Nice glassware also allowed the color and aroma to be fully enjoyed with the flight.

Meh. Beer was ok with the raspberry being the only one I’d buy again. Servers were banal and the f’ing hipster parents with their stupid house-​ape rug-​rats running all over the place killed the vibe!!!

I love this place. I love sours and my absolute favorites are the Raspberry and Apricot Provincial. They give you pretty generous tastings for the flights so go ready to drink. They also have snacks you can purchase which is nice because the beers are pretty strong :).
Some days I enjoy sitting outside on the small patio where they have lawn games and dogs are allowed. Other days I enjoy sitting in the barrel room where its nice and quiet and cool. Fun little brewery when you need to get away from the crowds and craziness of the big breweries.
Very unique selection! Can’t wait to see what they keep coming up with.

My favorite FoCo brewery. Delicious, amazing beer. Their taproom is small but cute — and I love their little outdoor area — and the prices for pours are great too.

I am a beer snob. I thought all the beer here was unique and good. I was also starving and the cheese and crackers hit the spot. I wish more food was available but that is the norm with Colorado breweries, I am sure because of some alcohol law. I have been to Colorado quite a few times and visited dozens of breweries and this one is in my top 5. Wish I lived close but it is probably for the best.

What’s to say except I think this is easily the most unique brewery in Ft. Collins and arguably the best of them all. The beer is niche, but they’ve got something for everyone. Just keep an open mind about what you like and what they have to offer. It has a very nice patio but the inside is not as flashy as Ft. Collins /​O’Dells /​New Belgium, so you might not like this place as much if you are there for the ambiance instead of the beer. Still, their beer is on point– very tasty stuff, and I’ve now gone back here about 4 times and been surprised by one of their specialty beers every time.

Fort Collins is one of my #1 favorite cities, so with this relaxation trip, I wanted to fit more Breweries in. After doing some research, I decided to make Funkwerks the first brewery I stopped in at while in town. And I did. And I was not disappointed. And I will always be returning here.
Funkwerks has a very adorable location. It’s fairly small brewery and taproom wise, but it has such a nice feel to it. I walked in the door ([han] solo) and was immediately greeted and asked if I had been in before. She gave me the quick run down, asked If I was interested in a certain beer or a flight (how could you not do a flight here?!) so I started with the latter. After quick perusal of the menu, I went with the «Funkwerks Flight» (5 tasters of 4oz for $ 9).
If you stop in, definitely go for a flight. It’ll give you a nice selection of many beers for a reasonable price — AND these are not low % beers. You’ll feel something as you consume them… especially when you’re use to those pesky Utah beers.
I took my flight of 5 gorgeously colored (and gorgeously tasting) beers outside to enjoy a little sunshine — and also because the tap room was buzzaayy when I came in around 430pm on a Monday. I really enjoyed all five beer selections within the Funkwerks Flight (Nelson Sauvin, Saison, Tropic King, Apricot Provincial & Raspberry Provincial) the Raspberry and Nelson Sauvin probably being my faves. Please! Try this flight! So amazing. I’ll need to return to try their special selection flight…
Once my flight was gone, I realized that I really needed to try the Elder Wit [I have a mild obsession with Elderflower]. I enjoyed it, but singly-​unanimously decided that the 5 selections that came with the flight were the better — with more flavor and depth.
For all my future visits to FoCo, a stop in at Funkwerks will be necessary. The patrons and employees were so awesome here, and the beers were top notch. It may be hard to top this cute little brewery anytime soon. Thanks for a great few hours, FW!

This is not your typical brewery. And it’s not named funkwerks for no reason either. The choices are eclectic and they have one of the best sour beer collection I have seen. If you have never tried sour beer, you must! If you are a fan of fruity beers and tart flavors in general, you will love sour beer. I got the funkwerks flight which comes with 5 different beers which includes the raspberry beer. It’s one of the best sour beers I have ever had and I would have bought another full size of it if I hadn’t already been drinking all day. There isn’t much seating in the front of the brewery but there are more communal bench seating in the back past the bathrooms. That area is also more quiet if you want to just talk in a peaceful seating. Funkwerks also sells T-​shirts which are very soft and have some cool designs. I will definitely come back if I am in the FoCo region.

I always have fun at Funkwerks! Really well-​made belgian beers, fun games outside, and a great staff.

There is not a brewery i like better in Fort Collins than Funkwerks. This is the total package for a small brewery, and is worth every penny. Whatever your brewers are doing, pay them more, don’t ask questions, and tell them to keep going.

This place is absolutely one of the best places to get a sour or saison. Their beer the Ode Bruin is probably the best sour beer out there and is worth the $ 20 for a bomber and then some. They have soo many wonderful beers, you can’t not find something if you’re a beer fan.

I want to preface this review with, I’m really not much of a beer drinker. Then why go here? I’m constantly trying to find a new beer that I could like. Funkwerks had great reviews and seemed like something right up my alley. Inside was small but still seemed to offer ample seating. Had additional seats outside, but was too cold at the time. Was excited to see on the menu that the beers all had noted of several fruits, which assured me I would enjoy them. I got the original flight, and this goes back to me not drinking or knowing a lot about beer, but most of them tasted the same and I couldn’t taste any of the fruit notes the menu stated. The one I was certain I would like, Raspberry Provincial, was very tart. Now the menu did say tart raspberries, and they meant it! Overall, loved the ambiance but wasn’t crazy about beer selection.

This is a great spot if you’re into Saison’s! If you order a taster tray, be sure you plan to stay for a while… Their tasters are just about the equivalent of 2.5 beers! Great deal, but more beer than I was expecting! The service is always super friendly and they have nice snack offerings too for when you need some food in your stomach!

Let me just say… I HATE saisons! HATE THEM. They’re malty and banana-​y and sweet and flat and disgusting! …UNLESS they’re Funkwerks!!! These saisons were fruity and floral without being sticky sweet, had enough carbonation to feel refreshing, and we’re a crazy pleasant surprise on our midwest beer tasting adventure. Stop by. The place smells a little funky due to the sanitation department operating behind them, but the brews were a delicious delight.

Glad I finally got to visit this place and they make some wonderfully, and the secret is in he name, funky beers. I wouldn’t say the wait person there was especially friendly but she was professional and their beer samplings come in full size tulip glasses so you can experience their Saisons at their best. You can also get a side of cheese and crackers and the cheeses, at least the one we had, is from a local cheesemaker in the area, and I think the crackers were also probably locally made. As a home brewer I like seeing people pushing the envelope in he beer styles and the place sort of reminds me of Crooked Stave, down in Denver, that did (and I assume still does) a lot of wild beer styles.

Nice small pub atrached to the brewery… Funkwerks has been brewing there for the last 4 years. The facility has been other breweries before.

I couldn’t knock star-​rating for the small unappealing tasting room.
As Funkwerks beers keep winning awards, I hope that the tasting room would grow/​evolve into something more.
The beer is great but they do not fill growlers. Also a reason for the 4-​star review.

For some reason this place really has a soft spot for me. Maybe it’s because it is one of the first breweries I went to when I was visiting Colorado a couple years ago. My cousin recommended it and it was just a perfect fall day to sit outside and to enjoy a flight of beers. Since then I’ve been back a number of times and that nostalgia still follows me. I don’t know if the beers are really my favorite but they always go down just fine!

Funkwerks pours their artisanal saisons in a cute little taproom alongside their brewery operations. It’s a stop not to be missed by craft brew fans – saisons at incredibly fair prices. All were enjoyable and distinctive but our group’s overall fav was the Tropic King. The small setting encouraged mingling among the fun crowd that included locals and beer fans from all over the country. We also really liked most of their t-​shirts.

I have always liked Funkwerks, and I have really liked what they were trying to do. I am not going to lie, there have been some rough beers along the way in the growing process, but I really like what they are doing now. Their Oud Bruin is pretty #(*$& good. I have had a barrel aged quad I feel the same about.
In a world of great breweries, this is one that you should check out. Keep on improving!!!

First off, Funkwerks, come to New Mexico already. Send us your beer. We’ll drink lots of it. That’s what we do well in New Mexico. I’m not even making that up, we have some of the highest consumption per capita in the US. Y’all can make lots of dinero.
Second, I like this tiny little spot. It’s a bit misleading as you pull up, since the place looks like a house from a Brothers Grimm story or like a tiny B&B. Bottom line, it looks small. Inside, yep, it is small. It’s a small taproom, but on the Saturday I visited, there were maybe two other people there, so space was not an issue. There seemed to be a small outdoor area too, but I didn’t check it out.
The beers here, yes they do include some sours (really more tart than sour, most of their beers), but a better descriptor for this brewery is a Belgian-​style brewing company. There were a number of saisons/​farmhouse ales on tap when I arrived and I got to try most of them. I forget the price, but for about $ 10 I got about 5 ounces of four different beers.
Of their year-​round offerings, the Saison and Tropic King are both excellent and very approachable. The latter has a big bubblegum aroma and flavor and is on the sweeter, maltier side. These are beers anyone can get down to. Both of these beers were part of my flight and delicious. Both of these beers are in the ⁴⁄₅ area.
Remi’s Rye was a limited or seasonal offering available when I was there and it was great. I was crushed to discover there weren’t bottles of this brew for sale in the cooler in the taproom. Remi’s Rye was a 4.25÷5
Raspberry Provincial I had to pay extra for, but I was happy to and got a half pour for a very reasonable price. I again love this beer, love the light, fruity wine-​like character from the raspberries and the agreeable tartness. I would have bought many bottles of this but it was, again, not available in the cooler. Boohoo.
Redemption came though, in the form of Dahlia. This is a big beer, but very drinkable and creamy. I can scarcely recall the details (this was stop three after NB and Odell), but I remember loving it and picking up a bottle (yes, this one was in the cooler). This beer is like a 4.3÷5. Just excellent.
I also tried the Sorachi, which as the name suggests (I think!) is brewed, or maybe dry-​hopped with Sorachi hops. It was a tasty saison with a different hop profile that I enjoyed. Again, I should have taken notes, but I can assure you it was good. ⁴⁄₅
Overall, Funkwerks is a great stop, particularly if you’re fortunate enough to arrive and have the place all to yourself. The service was friendly (one person behind the bar) and the artwork a nice distraction. There are a few nice shirts and hats for sale and of course, beer to go.

Sour beers are what they do, and they do them well! The flight was wonderful, we had a chance to taste all the goodies they have on tap. If you don’t like sour beer you are out of luck. Saison is king here. No food available, so plan accordingly. Right down the road from Odell’s, so you might as well hit up both which you are in the area. Cute dog friendly patio area to relax and imbibe in.

I absolutely love Funkwerks beer. I’m so thankful for their hours as well. They open earlier and stay open later than other breweries in town. Their staff is always friendly and attentive. They find that sweet spot of being friendly and attentive, while still allowing you to enjoy your company and beers without too much interuption.
Their Deceit is one of my all-​time favorite beers. I’ve had a lot of tripels. and this is in my top 3 of all time.
The only reason for 4 stars is their sitting area outside. It’s a little crammed and there’s always a few mosquitos because of the location. I hope they can expand that area somehow and put out few tiki torches or citronella candles.
Bring your ID and some bug spray and you’ll really enjoy your time at Funkwerks.

I love Funkwerks beer whenever I can get it here in Denver, so this was my mecca when we did our bike tour of breweries in Fort Collins. If you’re on a bike, start here, because it’s pretty much the furthest one out on Lincoln Avenue, then you can lurch back toward town hitting other, bigger ones, like Fort Collins Brewery, Odells, and New Belgium.
I had the Saison, The Man had some single-​yeast Saison which was clear and bright and lovely. The set-​up is nice, outdoor seating under trees, although we didn’t want to go too far from where the beer came out of the wall. *hiccup*
They also had a cool «infusion» system for their saison, two flavors; I had the lemon basil/​pink peppercorn one. Now, the herbs are not used in the brewing process, but the beer is sort of pushed through them between the keg and the tap. So the flavors are very light and fresh. It’s the only time I’ve seen this done and I think it is brilliant.
As an aside, we were there on Saturday August 2, and the food cart outside was some young cool cat. At first I thought, «oh it’s just burgers, but I’m super hungry so, whateves.» Then I read the menu. If you ever see this kid and he’s rocking the three-​pork sandwich (pulled pork, ham, bacon jam on a brioche bun with smoked gouda, I think?) you really REALLY need to get one. Best thing I ate the whole time we were in F.C. The buffalo corned beef rueben was pretty spot on too. But that bacon jam. WTF? So good!!!

Before I found Funkwerks, I fell in love with Grimbergen beers while I was in Spain — specifically their dubbel. They’re on tap there. Here in the states it’s around $ 16 for a six-​pack. So, I was thrilled I came here with my mom and sister for find their dubbel and quad. They’re fantastic. Everything here is for that matter. And the saison is perfect for a summer day.
The location is in the industrial area of town, but don’t let it throw you. There are a few tables and a counter inside, but it is tight. There’s a nice large outdoor seating area with picnic tables that we enjoy on a nice day. Just be careful before sitting down. There was sap on my seat, and I got it all over my dress — but their beer soon made me forget about it. Also, pets are allowed so bring the furry ones.
And even though I went in knowing what I wanted to drink, I still go the sampler and didn’t regret it. Their beers are delicious.

Some of their beers are just phenomenal. They really stand out among the local breweries. There’s no arguing that their saison is an outstanding example of the style. My personal favorites are Solenna and Oud Bruin. They run circles around another much, much bigger local brewery (I wonder which one) that likes to boast how authentically Belgian their product is.
The quality of the beer is what matters the most. Their taproom was more or less the same as any other small brewery’s. Local cheese plates are there if your drinking commands a snack, but really don’t even begin to compliment the fine, flavorful, complex beers that Funkwerks brews. Colorado’s not as well-​known for its cheeses, I guess.
Families and pets are welcome. The outdoor area was popular today (on a warm, sunny day in January). There were signs that advised not to smoke on the patio, but there are still those privileged few who do anyway.
