Maya Cove

I want to like this place but I just can’t. The wait times are terribly long. There really isn’t a greater so you never know if you should stand there or seat yourself. The décor is horrid. Really tacky. And you wonder if the tables are truly clean. However, I have always really enjoyed the food. Large portions and tasty.

Best fish n chips in Fort Collins! Wife had seafood platter and that was fantastic too! The staff was great and gave sum great suggestions. We will be back agin very soon!

I can’t believe this place can stay open! The food was so awful. I ordered salmon with veggies, and I swear they opened a frozen bag of vegetables, microwaved them, and threw them on the plate. My boyfriend ordered a hamburger and said it was the worst burger he ever had. How do you mess up a hamburger? It looked like something from a fast food restaurant, the cheese on it looked like something that would come out of a can. I had high hopes for this place, its right down the street from my house and is the only real restaurant in that shopping center. But its now the place we laugh about when we drive by…“remember how bad that place was”. Very disappointed :(

Great place! This restaurant supports many local non profit organizations in their community by providing excellent quality food and services. I had the bbq sandwich which was HUGE! Steve, the owner came out and was very friendly and welcoming, he told us about his wide selection of food. If you have a picky eater they will surely find something they like. The staff was great and came to fill my drink 4 times and never let it go down half way.
Overall, it is a unique little place which has great owner and friendly staff. It’s comfort food at its best. I’ll come back again!

Went to the cove because they had a groupon deal. Went in and was pretty thrown off by the décor. Really beachy and Hawaiian status but not too bad. Has big tv’s. Anyways. We enjoyed the seafood platter and the fatty melt. Both were really good. And their fries were pretty darn good. I think the shrimp needed a little more flavor but there wasnt anything to complain about. Oh, dont get the ranch on the side!!! They charge a dollar twenty-​five: (
The waiter was attentive, nice and professional. Just dont call me maam… in only 24 lol.

We tried Maya Cove tonight because I had purchased one of these deals on Deal Chicken and figured this was a low risk way to try someplace new. I don’t even know where to start… since most people have a short attention span I will start with DON’T EVER EAT HERE EVER! The food was way over priced for what you get, bland, low quality, the service was so-​so, the web site’s menu descriptions and prices didn’t match the restaurants and in the fine print they kind enough to include gratuity (probably the only way they were going to get any). To her credit our server wasn’t horrible just really, really bad. I could go into detail but it would just serve to prolong the amount of time wasted on this place.

The «potato medley» I got was just french fries, the «mango aioli» with the crab cakes was salsa. Not bad but for the price I guess I expected better…

My husband has been dying to pop in here. We were going to goto salsitas tonight (I wish we did!) But, I checked the mail and found a BOGO coupon and decided lets finally try it. Curiosity really killed the cat on this one! We waited an hour for food. Once it came I was appalled. My «tequila lime» tacos tasted disgusting and my steak was dry. Considering it took an hour to get three skimped on tacos I figured maybe they were preparing the cow FRESH just for me… Nope! My husbands not one to complain… I am. But, since its our first date night in a long time Ill end it on a good note… Pay… And never come back! We werent even noticed by staff for 20 minutes when we sat down … I knew we should’ve left. Sad because we live across the street. To top it all off I have never seen a mojito with 10 pounds of chopped mint in it… Why my husband drank his is beyond me. It tasted like cyanide. It also took 25 to get…

My wife and I decided to give this place a shot since we had coupon for a free entrée with the purchase of 1 entrée and 2 drinks at regular price. As soon as I sit down (seat yourself service) I grab my smartphone and immediately open up my Unilocal app. I wanted to see how this place was, what to order, etc. Boy was I surprised to see the reviews of this place.
I read the review from Anna B. and look at my wife and said I don’t think this coupon is a good idea. So, we put it away and opted to not have a hassle with the bill. The owner/​manager of the joint came over gave us the menus and left without even offering a standard water glass, which we later asked for. As a HUGE beer fan, I love to see a good variety of craft beer available; however, it was apparent that the only they wanted to sell was Bud-​Light and Landshark based off of every 1 out of 2 pieces of décor in the place. I had to ask what beers they had and I was please to find that they had a few locally brewed beers at least.
I ordered the smoked pork tacos and she had the jerk chicken salad. She thought hers was fine, but kinda skimpy according to the $ 11 price tag. My tacos were actually really good! The rice and beans were okay, but who orders for the sides anyways. I would go back for the food. It’s not the best Mexican but I’d put the flavor on par with Chipotle (almost).
I’d give them more stars except the food was really slow to come out for what we ordered. I’d expect more time with some things, but not tacos and a salad. The service was good, but there needs to more options in the beer menu — a fact for any eatery in Ft. Collins.
If I could be any more critical it would be the bizarre style and décor of this place. My wife and I were joking that this place is the owner’s response to a midlife crisis. Suddenly, you have Mardis Gras and the beach thrown in together, which I don’t see as inherently similar. Honestly, pick one or the other but they don’t belong together — it’s just weird.

My wife and I went to this place today using a LivingSocial coupon. The food was alright, the service was actually great all the way up until we got our bill.
We were literally sitting there waiting for our bill saying that we’d probably bring our grandparents in since they’re into the «Jimmy Buffet theme». We got our bill and were prepared to tip well and we saw that 20% gratuity was added on already. to a party of two.
I asked the waitress about it and was told «there was nothing she could do about it». She made up some unbelievably stupid excuse that when she used a coupon in the system it automatically adds gratuity. What a ridiculous thing to say.
We will never go back and we will advise our friends to never go there.
Gratuity should never be added to a bill unless its a large party. If a business can’t handle offering coupons, it shouldn’t. And, if waitresses aren’t getting tipped (The waitress told us the owner was tired of the waitresses being screwed, exact words) they are obviously not worthy of being tipped. Our waitress on this particular day would have been tipped more than the $ 7 added on to our 35 dollar bill, but I felt robbed after eating here. This experience literally ruined my day.
Beyond adding gratuity to a bill of a party of two, adding 20% is just asinine. 10%, 15% at the most, but 20%…
I will never go back and will actively discourage people from trying the place.
8 hours later, my blood still boils thinking about it.
I hope this business pays for its shadiness in lost revenue and patronage.

I usually only go to Maya Cove when my roommate in town (he works out of state), because he enjoys frequenting this place. The staff is friendly, for the most part, and the food is decent. The beer on tap selection though is not up to par with basically anywhere else in FoCo, though. It is a smallish type establishment; with a customer base that probably prefers Budweiser over anything else anyway, so maybe they really don’t feel the need to cater to a clientele with broader tastes in brew, but it is what it is.
This is a good place to go if you just want to kick back and watch a game. I like Maya, but it doesn’t rank up at the top for me.

Expecting to see old guys in faded Hawaiian shirts, stuffed parrots and the sounds of «Cheeseburger in Paradise», we braved our way into happy hour at Maya Cove. This themed bar definitely has a style all of its own.
Atmosphere: It would be in-​correct to call this another «beach themed» bar rather than the remnants of a beach party. Upon walking in our senses where overwhelmed with bright vinyl table clothes, dark painted walls and cheap palm tree decorations. The music selection was mostly The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Jimmy Buffet and other 70’s flashbacks which most likely appealed to the crowd sitting at the bar. This was clearly a locals kind of hang out.
Service: We sat at the bar and the service was good. The owner was wandering around greeting customers in a friendly manner when we got there.
Drinks: There are four beers on tap — one being Mardi Gras Bock and of course LandShark by Jimmy Buffet. Our mission that day however, was mai-tai’s and margaritas. The mai-​tai was spot on. The margaritas were served in an old mason glass jar much like you would find at southern bbq places when ordering a glass of sweet tea.
Food: The menu displays Caribbean influenced meals like the Sweet Island Pork sandwich and the Caribbean Steak Tacos as well as salads, burgers and soups. We opted to try the nachos with chicken, listed on the appetizer menu, to play it safe. They were not the best or worst nachos we have ever had, but how hard is it to mess up nachos?

Really bad food. Maybe the worst in town.

I think the food is okay for what it is — bar food and things like nachos, or fish tacos etc. The hurricanes (house drinks) are yummy and strong. BUT — the service is HORRIBLE and the staff clearly doesn’t give a crap about their customers. We were there in a group of 7 friends. When our food finally came — one didn’t get his dinner. When asked, the waitress said he hadn’t ordered. He HAD — we all ordered at the same time, we were right there. Instead of apologizing and making it right, she argued with him and he never got any food AND he never got the 2^nd drink he asked for.
And at the start of the evening we had asked ahead of times for separate checks for our party. I know how much of a drag that can be at the end of the night so we made sure to ask at the beginning. At the end — you guessed it — one check. I said, «But we asked for separate checks,» and the waitress said, «Well whattya gonna do?» and shrugged.
Awful awful experience (and this is the third time I’ve been there — because I’m local– and I’ve always been marginal about going back. Now I’m SURE I’ll never go back).
Maya Cove, you lost 7 potential repeat customers (not that you care).

Cheap drinks, skip the food.

OK but not amazing food. Friendly but slow service. Reasonable prices but in a so-​so location.
At least the tv’s in the bar area were large, and made it easy to watch the world cup.

Meh. The food is good, not great. The service is friendly, but not prompt. The happy hour is mediocre — the drink specials are for select tropical drinks and Mexican beers only (bleh). On the bright side, they do have some good beers on tap (Odells IPA at our last visit).
If you are a Jimmy Buffet fan, this place is for you; if not, you may find the restaurant’s theme obnoxious.
For those of you with kids: high chairs and boosters are abundant, but no changing table in the bathroom.
