My wife and I were driving from our residence in Denver to Fort Collins for a big birthday bash a couple of months ago. The transmission blew in our Honda Accord about 3 miles from Fort Collins at 5pm on a Saturday (car only had 80k miles on it). As you can imagine no repair shops or places to rent a car were open at that time so we were pretty stressed.
We left our car at Community Auto with a note for an estimate and luckily other friends in the area had a car for us to borrow for a couple of days. After a couple of days and $ 140 to diagnose we were informed they couldn’t really fix it in a reasonable fashion and it seemed like we would have to scrap the car.
Luckily our friends from Fort Collins recommended we get our car fixed by Wayne at Rocky Mountain Auto since they have had numerous repairs performed there with outstanding service every time. That was our lucky moment in time because Wayne promptly came up with a great solution for us without charging us again for the diagnosis.
He had our transmission rebuilt before re-​installing and now our car runs better than ever and it’s warrantied through most repair shops for 3 years (can get warranty service if needed in Denver where we live even though RMA is in Ft Collins). The cost of this repair is much less than the cost of new car payments over the next several years so Wayne saved our family a ton of money. More importantly, he saved our sanity by providing a great solution. Wayne fielded about a dozen calls from me with various questions over the time before, during, and even after the repair. He answered every time I called and was straight up with me while being very courteous throughout each conversation. This meant the world since we felt helpless living two hours away from our broken down car.
I recommend Rocky Mountain Auto without hesitation. You will be glad you went there.

I have used Rocky Mountain Automotive and Performance for both routine maintenance as well as emergency repairs. This shop is honest, a rarity these days, and priced fairly… well below dealership costs. Wayne aalso does not try to upsell you on additional repairs or parts but he will give you a «heads up» if he anticipates something else will go wrong soon. Easy to deal with. We are lucky to have Wayne and his crew here in town!

«Well chris i have cars towed in and broken everyday. I see plastic parts rot and age and fail. I have had other customers cars breakdown at my shop while in our care. I have cars that drive on vine drive and quit out front of my business. Everyone but you understands that machines break. No one likes too spend money on thier cars. They are always happy they were in town and no tow needed. You are one of our most difficult customers. I refuse to help you in anyway. You truck has 160 000 miles on it and things get old and fail. I should have kept a tube and you could try to break it. Not possible w human strenght. Though after years of coolant flowing threw it 220 degree temputures and –20 degree winters. Plastic gets soft and brittle almost, then very easy to break. I am sorry i touched a piece of plastic that has seen it lifespan and it broke and sprayed hot coolant all over my face. You should be happy i didnt charge extra for that.»
When I emailed the shop to dispute a bill for a repair that was done on my vehicle this is the rude and unprofessional reply I received back. I’ve been going there for years, and have spent around $ 6k there for repairs over that time, and have never been anything but courteous to the employees. Not sure where the «You are one of our most difficult customers» came from. They certainly never mentioned anything about me being difficult when I was handing them my credit card. So, this is my review. Take from it what you want. I will post the email I sent to the shop if I can to show that I was in no way being rude or disrespectful, only explaining that I didn’t agree with the charges.

I am still not happy with being responsible for the repairs after my heater core was broken while at your shop. I realize it’s an unfortunate incident, but I should not be responsible for it on my own. I know you said you deducted 2 of the 6 hours you said it took to replace the heater core, but I don’t believe that is reasonable. At most, I would still be willing to pay for the parts, but think the responsibility to cover the labor should be on the shop. I have talked to several people and reviewed a lot of posts online regarding parts being broken while in a mechanics care and the response seems to be universal — if the shop broke it, they are responsible for it. An additional part of my concern is that if the heat core connection was faulty, why was if not addressed when my engine was replaced less than a year ago. And, if there was no sign of damage then, it would lead me to believe that it may have been damaged during my engine replacement. But regardless, I still think the responsibility is on the shop. However, as you stated when I picked up my truck, it’s an unfortunate incident, and I am still willing to cover the cost of the parts. After all, I did have you replace the old heater core with a new one which was my decision and not necessarily needed to repair the damages. If you don’t feel like resolving this matter and reject my request, I will be posting a review to express my dissatisfaction, but I wanted to give you the opportunity to reconsider the charges before I did. I don’t think you are maliciously trying to take advantage of me, as I have never had problems going there in the past, but possibly may have overlooked the situation from my point of view.

I good, honest, reliable mechanic is worth his weight in gold! Wayne definitely fits that description.
We have an old Toyota LandCruiser. It is a great car, but repairs can be costly. Wayne has done such a great job of keeping that car reliable for us without costing us an arm and a leg. Best of all, I trust him. if he says you need to do something, you need to do it.

Honest, affordable, fast service. I’ve gone to these guys for the past year, and all I can say is that I’ve never been so comfortable walking into an automotive shop. Wayne is extremely knowledgable, has helped me fix a few minor extra problems at no charge, and always takes care of me. Oil changes & checkups are priced fairly and FAST! (less than 15 mins). This is the best auto place in the area, hands down. After several nighmarish episodes with my car that resulted in the mechanics breaking my car even worse every time they tried to fix it (ps NEVER go to Brakes Plus!) it was amazing to find this place. The mechanics (especially Joe) are honest and charge fair prices. We’ve brought our cars here for oil changes, basic maintenance, and problems numerous times, and they have given honest diagnoses and fair prices, often checking for problems for free with their fairly priced oil changes. I wish I could rate them 5 stars for every time we’ve gone to them for work. Don’t hesitate to bring your car there!
