This Efficient House is an expert residential energy efficiency company. We are approved by every gas and electric utility provider in Northern Colorado to perform any energy-​saving improvement that qualifies for a rebate. With your priorities and budget in mind, we achieve the maximum energy-​saved-​per-​dollar-​invested. Our average project costs less than $ 3,000 and we are not a remodeling company.

We install air sealing, insulation, heating and cooling equipment, windows, whole house fans, radon mitigation and other retrofits that save money, increase comfort and reduce carbon emissions. Because we are not a «single-​trade» contractor we never misdiagnose the source of wasted energy or comfort related issues. We happily handle all rebate processing as well.

We begin with a home energy audit which uses various diagnostic tests to analyze the efficiency of a house. We can then suggest the most cost effective ways to improve the efficiency of your home, reduce energy usage/​utility bills and improve home comfort. An important part of our work — and what differentiates us from ordinary construction companies — is that we take a «whole house» approach to improving your home. A house works as an interactive system and changing one element can have a chain reaction of effects throughout the rest of the building. This approach is truly our specialty and what differentiates us from other home efficiency contractors.

Michael T.

Business Owner

Michael has spent the last 10 years retrofitting older homes in Colorado with a focus on energy efficiency. Before that he spent 10 years remodeling upscale homes in Northern Virginia. He holds a degree in Business and Finance from George Mason University and plans to earn an MBA from CSU in the near future. Michael is also the founder of San Juan Youthworks, a wilderness and vocational training program for low-​income at-​risk youth in Southern Colorado.
