Broward Center for the Performing Arts

I saw Wicked and Book of Mormons here. There was also a wine pairing event as well. Nice theater, well priced tickets (I get the deals online) and convenient location. I would recommend parking at another lot near by. Traffic in and out is crazy.

I’m reviewing the venue and not the shows. I went yesterday to see The Book of Mormon. Bought my tickets for a balcony box. Worst mistake ever. Your view is basically blocked in front of you if you sit straight on your chair (the way you should sit). You have to basically sit at the edge of your sit and lean over and look over the huge solid balcony rail in front of you. Horrible. Look at the picture I posted so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about. Whoever designed this completely overlooked this. A nice iron rail or Plexiglas would solve this problem.
The rest of the center is really nice. The parking lot across the street connects through a sky walk on the third floor so it is very convenient.
The ushers were very sweet and nice. Most of them are senior citizens and they seem very happy doing their jobs.

Wow. They get service. Great venue. Fabulous people. Club Level A+. Welcoming attitude all around. Events planned are fabulous. Bartenders great. Colleen was great. Chef was #1. Manager was totally in charge and a great host.

I spent the last half hour online trying to buy a ticket to one of the events. I finally gave up and probably will do something else. The web site is very poorly maintained, doesn’t work, and not very user friendly. Compared to the Arsht site and the new world site, it is a disaster

I need to come to this place more often!!! My family enjoyed it!!! We watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It was truly wonderful. My daughter loved it. I plan to come back to see some of the other venues they have there.

This is a very good venue for a stage performance. We arrived 40 minutes before and had no problem with parking or at the entrance.
Getting there from Miami is fairly simple and direct. There is street parking, a multi-​level garage across the street, with an adjoining covered walkway on the 2^nd floor. And, behind that, is an open parking lot. There were crossing guards at the main entrance but we found drivers to be slow and cautious on that street.
The lobby is quite open with good signage for seating. We found a bar with 4 servers. They offered several beer, wine and champagne selections from $ 8 — $ 18. Beside is a snack service that mostly had desserts with a quinoa salad, wraps, antipasto plate.
The seating is comfortable with great lighting, sound and orchestra. We saw The Grinch that Stole Christmas on Saturday. It was superb with visuals and emotions. There was snowflake confetti falling at the finale. Then there are many exits so you move very quickly out.

Very good performing arts center.
A little on the smallish side, but good staff and facility. Parking options seem plentiful around the area.
Atmosphere and setting is great. Nice views over the New River in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

This place is located in Ft Lauderdale and has amole parking adjacent… They also offer valet parking, (I dont use as they did dent my car once there)… The place is large, accommodating and comfortable. Lots of lovely third age people guiding you to your seats… Seats, quite comfy… Did have seats in the orchestra, very nice and also in the club section of the balcony. Very good as well. Acoustic wise, I think this venue could improve… Saw Mark Knopfler in concert and even though it was great, it did have some sound issues…
Other than that, a great venue… Enjoy

Broward Center is the nicest place to see any show. You don’t miss the traffic at the Adrienne Arsht Center and they make sure you want to come back. I took Ray to see ONCE for his birthday. We eat vegan and their club level caters to everyone. They had/​have a veggies, cheeses, greens with Asparagus, brie, meat, potatoes and an open bar. Because of our restrictions, Ricardo Alfonso had the kitchen make us grilled veggies and farro dishes and made Ray a berry bowl + candle with a boisterous HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! What a special way to celebrate Ray’s birthday! Thanks Broward Center for having SUCH AN AWESOME STAFF & for going out of your way to make our time with you so special!!!

I am rating the center 4 stars because I like the whole package. Unfortunately the show ONCE was a wast of money. That is the rating of the show. My wife and I wanted this show to be as good as in NY. The ad on TV is the one they used so we thought the night will be a blast. we sat in the mezzanine in the second row and paid $ 221.00 for the 2 tickets. Ticket master (who by the way lied to me and said they were orchestra). When we came to the theater is when we found out where we were sitting, which by the way was very good seats for the show. The production was nothing like the commercial on TV. the actors seemed not to care about the audience as they performed for themselves. The accents and the way they projected the dialog and music was so bad, mainly because we couldn’t hear most of what was said. This was the first show in a long time that we walked out of «O», also most of the people sitting around us and on the balcony walked out as well, so instead of thinking I need a hearing aid, I wasn’t alone. Save your money but again I must say that the place is great and I am looking forward to the next show I go to.

My first show at this theater was for Book of Mormon last year. We found out about it pretty late so our only choice of tickets was in the upper balcony. It was quite high up, but we were still able to see everything, just not with that much detail; however, it didn’t detract from the performance at all which was absolutely hilarious!
I was more prepared to get tickets this year, especially since it was for Lion King!!! While looking at the seating chart, I came across their new Club Level section and decided I’d splurge a little. Your tickets are held at will call where you also get a parking pass for free valet. You get a bracelet when you first enter the lounge so they can identify you on your way back from the bathroom (there aren’t any bathrooms in the lounge itself, boo). They serve food before the show which is show-​themed. The food we had was African and incredible! I found myself going back for seconds and thirds even though I was already full. They also serve drinks throughout the show and desserts/​coffee after. I love that you can relax afterwards while every one else is scrambling to get their cars. The simple 30−40min wait makes a world of a difference, and it goes by quickly when you’re presented with cookies and milk.
Overall, this is a great place to watch any performance, and I’d highly recommend the Club Level if you’re in the mood to elevate your theater-​going experience.

As somebody who grew up near Broadway and The Kennedy Center as well as doing musical theater throughout high school, I love going to plays and the ballet. Every once in a while, it’s fun to feel sophisticated and artistic.
I came here most recently for Phantom of the Opera (which granted was almost a year ago-​yes this review is really overdue). I am one of those people whose parents taught them to dress nicely for special occasions. Apparently not everyone in Broward County got that message-​because at the Opera there were people wearing cutoff shorts and tshirts at a place where it should be formal attire (I had on a gown, come on). The theater is supposed to be fancy-​try wearing jeans at any other opera and you would never be let in the door.
That being said, with whatever tickets we had, we had a cocktail type reception pre-​show and were able to get drinks and hors d’oevres at a small bar in the mezzanine before the show started which was included in the premium ticket price. There was a balcony outside this area that overlooked part of the lower levels of the theater which was really gorgeous. This was a nice way to be able to relax with a few drinks before the show started, as well as during intermission. It was also nice that they didn’t confine the drinks to that area and allowed us to take them with us up to our seats.
We had upper balcony seats, but they were pretty far off to the side (wings if you will). I ended up craning my neck for a little bit when most of the «action» was on the same side of the stage as I was. Mostly it wasn’t too bad. I like being high up to be honest since when I’m lower I always get stuck with a tall man directly in front of me and then I can’t see diddly squat. At least higher up I can see the whole performance. The aforementioned bar was on the opposite side of the concourse as our seats, but what can you do in this situation? We didn’t know.
I really enjoyed the performances I’ve been to here and want to come back again, I just wish that other people would dress a little more for the occasion, if you will. If the performance is a high school choir performance, feel free to wear jean shorts, IMO-​but for the people that have made their life the stage, throw on a little polish :)

We came here to see a Disney favorite: the Lion King!
The show was great, and anywhere you pick to sit has a good view. That was my main concern, and turns out I had nothing to worry about. I was surprised to find out that all the staff there are volunteers. Imagine that! I think it’s wonderful they love and promote the arts so much. I think it shows through their personality and friendly faces that they love what they do. They were all very helpful and courteous.
Can’t wait for another Broadway favorite of mine to hit this stage!

It is a nice sized theatre compared to most in Soflo.

Valet parking is the way to go. Running late? Want to remove the stress of parking to get into the show? Valet is the answer, $ 25 added to the cost of your show and there’s easy exit out the back down 4^th avenue.
Great layout with seat options to satisfy any price range. Today we sat in the lower orchestra in row L so like 10’rows from the stage. Awesome seats that allowed us to see and hear everything.
My only reason for not giving them 5 stars is NO ATM on the property for me to buy drinks during intermission. Other than that, this is a great venue. Well staffed and knowledgeable people to direct you to your seats in an orderly fashion. Always enjoy our shows at the Broward Center

Excellent performance by Roberta Flack. Very nostalgic. The event space is spectacular and a wonderfully comfortable space to enjoy the event. The upper orchestra seats are well worth it

As a young boy my lullabies consisted of a record playing Marvin Hamlisch’s «The Entertainer» or a beautifully sweet and soft song sung to me by mother. «Lullabye and good night…“I can still hear those words in my mind. Mom was a music teacher, and she has a beautiful voice that has inspired many to love music including myself and both of my brothers. Singing and playing instruments were a regular part of our lives, and eventually we would all end up singing in some choral arrangements and then musical theater during our days in high school. We were fortunate enough to be a part of a cast or two right alongside our mom, and I credit these experiences, along with the visits to the theater with Grandma, for my fondness for musicals and theatrical productions.
On a recent visit to Ft. Lauderdale I got to see Pippin with my parents at the Broward Center. It had been a long time since I’d seen a show there, and a lot has changed about the riverwalk area and the theater complex. A new restaurant has been added, there’s a patio off the main concourse area, the walkway along the intracoastal has been extended, and there are a lot of new high rises and buildings along the skyline. Inside the theater they’ve added some new concession venues, one of which apparently has a delicious fresh roasted turkey sandwich, but other than that not much is different.
The stage is amazingly large, and the acoustics are fantastic. The ushers are incredibly professional and everyone there seems to genuinely want you to enjoy your experience.
As far as Pippin went, this show was amazing! Part musical, part circus, part sideshow is the only way I can describe it. The actors were on point, the costuming was colorful and creative, and the orchestra hit every note with perfection. I could literally watch this production 3 times without ever tiring of it.
Seeing a show here renewed my love for the theater, but also made me miss the fact that we do not have a theater of this caliber in Reno. That said, I appreciate all that we do have, which includes a lot of community and independent theater, and I can’t wait to see a show again soon.

I have season tickets for Broadway across america so I am there at least 6 times a year. Beautiful theater

Just came from a second night performance of American Idiot. Fun show with a very lively cast and an interesting story told to wonderful music.
We were in the mezzanine and could not understand any of the songs — mushy sound made worse by the many people who were walking out because they could not understand the words being sung. Occasional solo sections gave some understanding, but overall the sound was poor — or worse.
We stayed until the end — the orchestra sections seemed to enjoy the show so I suppose they could hear.
Unless you are uninterested in the story or sit in the orchestra, I suggest you skip The American Idiot. The sound quality isn’t up to the quality of the dancing.

Gorgeous venue! We went to see Crosby Stills Nash here, and really loved the location and the venue itself. There is a parking lot at the center, including valet parking, but it’s easy to find free parking across the street, near The Chimney House restaurant.
My only complaint was that the ushers kept flashing their lights any time a person walked down the steps to leave the show, presumably to use the restroom. That constant on/​off of the flashlight was really distracting, so my suggestion is not to choose a seat anywhere near the exit doors.
I’d love to see another performance at this venue!
