My husband and I were in Ft Lauderdale for one night and were looking for a restaurant with raw bar. We selected G&B based on other favorable Unilocal reviews. We called ahead for reservations but they only take them for large parties which we were not. We walked over around 7 and the bar area was overflowing but we were quickly able to find two seats at the raw bar. Kerry was our server and took great care of us. He was attentive and went above and beyond to answer any questions we had about the menu, guided us through the specials, and local beer selections. We considered the seafood platter($ 68) which had many of the items we were interested in but then decided to order raw bar a la carte. The oysters(ranging between $ 2.50−3) were fresh and shucked right in front of us. My favorite were the crab claws($ 30 per half pound). We had four of these, so prefect for sharing. The absolute star of the meal was the lobster club($ 28). Worth every penny. Large enough to share, but so good that you’ll want your own. Seriously you must order this!

We were extremely disappointed with our experience last night at G&B. We are local and come here on a regular basis to get the oysters. We sat at the bar for it was a busy Friday night. While waiting for our Cocktails and oysters we watched the oyster shucker cut his hand with the shucking knife through his latex glove. Since he was not wearing an oyster shucking glove he cut his hand. He did not take the gloves off or clean or bandage the cut. Instead he rolled his glove back licked the cut and rolled the glove back into place. For an establishment that claims 4 stars and charges +/-$ 3 per oyster I would have expected higher standards especially in raw food handling.

The best food, beverages, ambiance and service! The waitress had awesome suggestions on all fronts, but honestly I believe anything you order here would be spectacular!

What an amazing experience my family and I had. When we first walked in we were greeted by nice young lady named Lynn. She was very helpful on what to select on the menu and had the best«I can help you attitude.» We tried all the different oysters, lobster in a martini glass, the grilled octopus and the raw clams and they were completely delicious. Great atmosphere and the view on the water was an extra bonus. We will be back

It’s not cool when the manager at their sister restaurant tophat tells me there is no smoking at g&b and I go there with my husband for my anniversary to find not 1 but 12, yes 12 people SMOKING within 3 feet of 2 restaurants –g&b AND coconuts –packed with non smoking patrons. I’m a fit foodie and did not appreciate the wall of smoke going up my nose as well as the bartender’s noses as I slurped my much anticipated oysters… The owners should add to their 5 provided garbage pails filled with sand(ie provided ash trays) that say«be nice” — to the majority of non smoking patrons and star clear of smoking here within 100 feet! Be nice??? Exactly. Be nice and considerate… smoking is trashy and dated, they gutted this restaurant to appeal to a modern crowd and they allow smoking? I don’t get it and I won’t return.

We entered G&B Oyster without expectations only to find two wonderfully casual restaurants. Coconuts and G&B share adjacent spaces along the intracoastal offering free valet parking(+tip). The menu G&B is available at Coconuts so we chose outdoor seating in on their deck. Our server, Bobby, was very knowledgeable and I allowed him to select an assortment of raw oysters. They were fresh, chilled and properly shucked. I could have eaten another dozen, but we opted to try their Oysters Rockefellet. They too were fresh and delicately prepared, among the best I’ve ever had. The two restaurants combined menus are quite extensive and everything we saw served to tables around us looked good. I had the New England Boiled dinner. Cold watet lobster, shellfish, potatoes, corn with andouie sausage… really good. If you are lin FLL and ooking for high quality food in a casual and comfortable surrounding, you won’t go wrong here.

We were going to Coconuts but there was an hour wait so my friends and I wound up here. We got lucky to get 6 seats at the bar and we are very hungry so we all agreed to stay. We met John, our bartender, and he was very attentive as soon as we walked up. When we agreed to have dinner here we told him then he gave us menus and immediately placed napkins and silverware. My friends were complimenting that«this guy(John) is awesome». He explained all the specials to us and did an amazing job but I have my heart set on a Tuna sandwich. :) My friend asked him to choose his top 3 favorite appetizers for us. And they were delicious! One was fish dip, huge peel and eat shrimp and delicious crab claws. We loved them! We just ordered our entrees and I hope I will have time to review those. But so far this is turning into our lucky night finding our seats. A nice atmosphere and beautiful night in Florida eating very good. Yummy! –review on appetizers and service. Everything was delicious. I had a tuna steak sandwich. A friend had a steak and another had lobster. We all left happy! Still thinking about this place on our way back to Dallas.

Good food at medium to high prices. This place is connected to Coconuts, and is their more upscale cousin. Service was friendly and efficient. 2⁄3 of the menu is small plates size, the sandwiches and salads are normal size. I had the lobster green goddess and it was excellent, a generous portion of lobster, whole claw meat, and at least half a tail. Needed a knife and fork to cut the lobster into bite size pieces, so that’s a plus! The lettuce was high quality, I think Bibb, a major win for the main part of the dish. Could have done without the heats of Palm. Wiley’s rock and roll shrimp were good. The chicken and biscuit is exactly what it sounds like. The chicken was very nice, but the biscuit was too cakey, and had a poppy taste. I liked the carrot slaw on top. Wife y’all hendrick’s cocktail was tasty, but the sugar in the rim dropped down and got sticky. This place is cool and hip, and full Of a well heeled crowd cutting loose. When I was up using the restroom an intoxicated bro sat down at our table thinking it was his, his gf quickly called him over to the right table, lol.

If you find the wait at Coconuts a bit too long, just head right next door to the oyster bar at G&B to enjoy some oysters or tapas while you wait! I’ll start by saying that the service here is excellent. I’m a server myself, and I can recognize immediately when a server is busy but handling the flow like an expert, or straight up weeded. It was clearly packed here, even on a Monday night, but I never felt neglected or ignored by my server, even though I could see he was very busy. He took the time to explain all the specials to me, draft options, and even his personal favorites. He was also considerate of the pacing of my meal, which many people here to enjoy a meal on vacation will appreciate. The oysters are good and fresh of course, but a little pricier than I would expect for a coastal location at around $ 3/each. Everything I tried on the menu was delicious, but again, a little pricier than I would have expected. I walked away having spent just $ 40 for myself, not including drinks. All in all, I think this is a great place for bar/drinking food and tapas, but if you may want to head elsewhere if you’re looking for a big meal without the enormous price tag.

Best food in the area, hands down. Coconuts had an hour wait so we decided to grab an open spot at the adjacent Raw Bar, owned and operated by the same people. It must’ve started off as a spot to wait for your table then they said, what the heck? Let’s serve food here too! Let me tell you, the food and experience did not disappoint. We seated ourselves in front of two guys cracking oysters, lobsters, crab legs, and setting up some extravagant seafood spreads. We were greeted by 4 different people who made us feel at home offering us the specials and answering any questions about the menu. Since we weren’t sure how this part of coconuts was run, it was handy. Anyway, after a couple of local Florida brews, our appetizer came: surf and turf queso. Lobster and filet mignon bits mixed in a cheese dip for chips. It was outstanding. Then our meals came. I got the lobster philly cheese steak. Two hot dog sized rolls with nice chunks of lobster w onions, peppers, cheese(all the makings of a Philly). Never had anything like this. I thought it was well worth the $ 16. Plus when you factor in that you’re on the water in a popular spot, it’s really not that bad. My girlfriend had a shrimp dish(pictured) but I forgot the name. I tried a few bites and it was very tasty as well. Very happy we stopped in!

Nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Be prepared to wait as they do not take reservations; the wait was about an hour at 7:30pm, and people were still waiting at 9:00pm. G & B was out of our first choice of cold water oysters so we settled for a waiters recommendation. They were good, but not what we wanted. The accompaning horseradish, cocktail and Mignonette sauces were kind of thin. Waitstaff was friendly. Based on this evening I really feel they earned a 3 ½ Star.

Such a wonderful place, we stumbled upon this place it we had a blast. We tried so many wonderful things from the menu, grilled calamari, oysters, oysters rockefeller, conch fritters, the list goes on and on and on. They have some fantastic wines on the list, we were so impressed. This place is a must, one of my favorite spots in the the area!

I decided to try this place after seeing all the great Unilocal reviews. It definitely did not disappoint. There was a slight wait but that’s to be expected on a Saturday night. Once seated it took a few minutes to get waited on but I could see the servers were very busy. The blueberry mojito was delicious and refreshing. My friend and I ordered many items similar to tapas and were pretty full when done. I enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller and the salted shrimp. The garlic and olive dip that went with the shrimp was a great addition to the shrimp. The stuffed shrimp was also delicious and had a little heat to it. My friend ordered the scallops and corn. I tried both and it was delicious. The bathrooms were clean. Even though the servers were busy, I felt like they still paid attention. The oyster bar was cute with tile on part of the wall and garage doors on the other side of the bar. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who travels there or lives there that enjoys seafood.

The hype here is really unwarranted. I just don’t get it. The only thing that’s awesome is its on the water. OK great– its florida– so is a ton of other places. If your a tourist staying near the area i get the high rating because most of the beach selections really suck for food quality. I love oysters and they do have a great variety of oysters but price average is $ 3/each making a dozen almost 40 dollars, are you kidding me right now??! We came for dinner and while we wanted to eat at coconuts it was packed so we snagged a seat at g & b. The g&b menu is VERY limited. It really is mostly all raw bar stuff. We got an app of grilled oysters $ 13 for 5. The BF got the oyster po — boy and I got the calamari steak. The grilled oysters were not meaty at all. 3 out of 5 barely could get a scrap of oyster out. They had a creamy sauce on it and it did taste good. The Calamari steak is a large rectangular grilled piece of squid with some tomatos on top and a couple pieces of bread. This is typically an appetizer. It was ok, kinda chewy and bland. The oyster po — boy was pretty terrible. The fried«oysters» looked like mcdonalds Chicken nuggets and tasted even worse. The sandwich itself was dry and tasteless and the sauce on the bread was pretty unappetizing. Considering this place is pricy and always packed you’d think they should be able to deliver solid food, but not the case.

G&B Oyster is a really solid spot to have seafood right on the water. When Coconuts is too busy you can usually walk right in here and grab a seat at the bar. The ambiance is great since you’ve got the option to sit outdoors with water views or inside with the A/C. The bartenders serving us were very attentive and super nice. We had some ceviche while we were waiting for our table at Coconuts, so we didn’t get to sample much on the menu, but the options looked pretty appealing and apparently you can order items from the G&B menu at Coconuts. If we are ever back in Ft. Lauderdale, we will make a point to stop here again.

Five stars the whole way. I ate here 3 times on our YSB trip and once at Coconuts. Everything I had was delicious. Everything. The lobster bisque, the alligator ribs, the steamers and crab empanadas. I ate this place down and was willing to try almost anything beyond the mussels on the menu. While it’s a bit intimidating when you first step in, because G&B is seat yourself, always busy, and Coconuts usually has a ridiculous wait time outside of lunch, the food at G&B is worth the confusion. Coconuts may seem like the same space — as they are literally feet from each other but the menu at G&B goes above and beyond what they serve at Coconuts. The service was right on par every time and they even remembered us when we came back a couple nights later! I could not sing G&B’s praises enough — if you’re in the area, go!

Went here last night on the last night of Unilocal spring break. I don’t really eat seafood but coconuts next-door was super busy, it was a half hour wait for either the outside or inside eating areas. My friend convinced me to go here since there were no waits. There’s about three nonseafood things on the menu, I chose the dark and stormy ribs, the smaller portion, for $ 10. I had to cut myself off from drinking LOL because it had been a long day, so I also got a Diet Coke. The place closes early around 10PM on a Sunday but they didn’t kick us out which was nice. The ribs were very good and I also tried a little bit of her crab empanadas. I’d return when in the area.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. We were hoping to get into Coconuts, and the hostess sold us on having the same menu. When we were seated, we were told the menu was not the same, but we decided to give it a chance anyways. We ordered 2 chicken biscuits and they were absolutely DISGUSTING. They used dark meat, which is so incredibly cheap for an expensive yet very tiny sandwich, and it tasted horrible. They put way too much honey on the biscuit, and it was just plain gross! The WORSTPART is that I found a hair in the middle of my chicken sandwich. I will give them credit for taking it off the bill, but that is what you should do when your employees do not follow health code regulations and put up their hair. My father and fiancé ordered the Philly Lobster Cheese Steak and they were expecting to get some type of steak, but instead it was tiny pieces of lobster served Philly cheesesteak style. The sandwhich was nearly $ 20, and it was soo tiny… probably the size of a hot dog. NEVERAGAIN. Expensive and dissatisfying.
