Whenever I need to rent a car, my first call is to John at Korex. They are simply hands down the best car rental service in the area. Located right across the GW bridge, Korex is very convenient, particularly from Manhattan.
A big selling point are the cars, which are primarily Toyotas, Hondas and Hyundais. Most are brand new (or close to it) and are far superior to the options offered by the major car rental companies. Prices are competitive year-​round and the service is excellent — especially John, whose always been very helpful.
They’re also open later than other rental car companies on weekdays, so it’s easy to pick up a car after work without worries or hassles. There’s really no reason to go anywhere else when to rent a car.

I never write Unilocal reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for this company as I could not imagine a better rental experience. The staff were extremely professional, friendly and kind and came through in a pinch when 4 other companies could not as I did not currently have a credit card to put on file. The car is very clean and the staff gave us a reasonable rate. They also offered to pick us up from the location from which we called. The office is very accessible from Manhattan — we simply took the 1 up to the GW bridge and took a bus 1 stop.

Excellent Service. John and Dave were extremely helpful in arranging the pick up and drop off. We received a brand new toyota camry for a ¹⁄₃ of the price that we would have paid in Manhattan. After the trip, no additional cost was added and John gave me a call per my request to review the final cost involved. And although we went over (~15 mile) the 600 miles we were assigned for three days, John didn’t charge us. (25 cts for 1 extra miles, not exorbitant like the rest of the places in NYC)
the only drawback is the time they are open, and for myself, getting off before 5pm and heading to NJ was a bit of challenge, but the location itself is very straightforward. Take the A /​E train from midtown to GW bridge, and then take the two dollar bus across the bridge. If you are dropping off the car late-​night like myself, there’s an option to hop on a carpool at the bus station, cross the bridge and be dropped off at the subway station.

My car was getting fixed and so I needed a rental. The body shop recommended Korex and Im so happy they did! The customer service was oustanding! They even picked me up and dropped me off after my car was fixed! Dave was very friendly and personable. The rates are very competitive even though my insurance covered it. In a world where there are so many rant a car places and prices are already competitive, you gotta go with the people who care bout you. I highly recommend Korex to anyone in need of a rent a car. They even have luxury cars and have monthly/​yearly rates!

The renting process was smooth, prices are very reasonable and the customer service is great. John gave me a ride back to my place in Fort Lee, even though it was after closing. Would definitely rent from Korex again.

I’ve been looking for a reasonably pricing option to rent a car for the weekend for ages (I live in Manhattan). I was doing the zipcar thing for a while (I also have memberships with Hertz and Enterprise by the hour rentals) but that’s way more expensive than Korex. As of this writing it’s $ 45 a day for a corolla
The car’s are always clean and new (I got an accord last weekend with 28 miles on it :) and John’s service is really the type of personal service that you just don’t see anymore. I even forgot to fill up the tank once and he didn’t charge me :)
Korex is one of those gems that you want to keep to yourself and are afraid other people will find out about and then the cars will always be rented out.
I usually don’t write online reviews but this is such a great deal compared to the other options for car rental and I feel I should return the Karma of such great service and prices I get from them.
The only «gripe» I have is no returns on Sunday.

long story short — i sold my car last year, i’m in a long distance relationship, and sometimes public transit won’t cut it. korex is not only convenient to get to, it’s a gorgeous walk across the GWB, they have the best prices i’ve found, super new clean cars, and they are just really nice guys. i’ll absolutely rent from them again.

We rented a car for the 4^th of July WE and were extremely satisfied with prices (definitely unbeatable for being so close to Manhattan), friendliness of the staff and quality of the car! We actually arrived at Korex «by mistake» after booking with another company but going to the wrong address; this was a very fortunate mistake!

If I could give more stars I would. Rented twice in Fall 2010 for weekend trips. Not only was the Minivan clean and well functioning, Mike and John were honest, willing to spend time with any questions I had, and hospitable (they have coffee and chocolate and a clean bathroom– little things that I personally appreciate. It was also raining one day, and they gave me an extra umbrella).
As everyone has said, the rates can’t be beat. I took a cheap bus across the GWB for $ 1.75.
FYI! A Sunoco station is conveniently located next door for refilling the tank. Across the street are a burger place, korean bbq, bakery. And… if you want to live dangerously, there are often cars waiting by the NYC bound bus stop, picking up people to qualify for ‘carpool’ (needs to be 3 people in the car) paying $ 2 instead of $ 8 for toll– so the driver pays less and you get a free ride. Win win.

I have rented a car from Korex on three separate occasions now and each time has been great. They have even been helpful when things have gone very wrong, such as the time the car was towed while we were in Brooklyn and the tow lot wouldn’t return it to us because we had extended our agreement two days beyond that which was listed on the rental form we had (apparently, they treat you as a potential car thief if you didn’t return the car on the date on your rental form). Korex sent out a new rental form and we were able to get the car the next day and they were still willing to rent to us!
The second time, we were late bringing the car back on a Saturday, but because we had rented it for our wedding preparations, John didn’t charge us the extra day as a wedding gift. We have found them to be easy to deal with and honest, and their prices are the best we’ve found. Their hours are rather limited, particularly on the weekend, but we found the Enterprise in Fort Lee has about the same hours — 8−12pm on Sat and closed on Sundays. Plus, it is easy to get to their location by taking a bus across the bridge — there are seven that stop at the first stop in Fort Lee by the overpass — and going up the stairs to Lemoine Ave. It’s right next to the gas station across the street.

I’ve been looking around for a reasonably priced car rental agency in the NYC area with very little luck. I’ve just about given up and succumbed to the idea of taking public transportation everywhere outside of the city, when I found this place. The staff is extremely friendly and service is great! Not only that, but the prices here are fantastic — where else can you rent a compact car for $ 44.95 a day?! All cars are brand new and I actually drove one with less that 1,000 miles on it. The place is really easy to get to– just take the first stop across the GW bridge. I would highly recommend this agency and you can bet I’ll be renting from here again!

I have to be honest when I say I don’t really want to be the first person to Unilocal this hidden gem of a car rental company. By doing so I risk the chance to rent a car at a reasonable price, find availability and continue to know good customer service. All of this may come to an end once more people learn about Korex Rent A Car. The reason I write this is I like to reward good business with positive reviews and networking that brings them more business. So I take this chance that posting this review brings greater success for John and Kenny at Korex. I just wish that as the company grows they have enough cars to rent me one!
Oh and the basics,
Very clean cars, new models, nice selection, be aware this is a proprieter operated business, and not a chain, don’t expect the bigs company level of tech or membership perks like taking any car off the lot, paperwork and car inepections are normal, so budget some extra time and you be quite pleased how quickly they do get you in and out. What may be less in selection and availability is made up for in price and service. Well done.
Convenient location to George Washington Bridge. There’s even a NJ Transit Bus 5 min from the office that provides transport to Manhattan. $ 2.00. If you need to kill some time on the block, Ft. Lee has some killer restaurants and bakery’s on the same street.
