OYE: Steaksgiving at Longhorn Steakhouse

Late in this review but it was such a fantastic event I needed to brag. Thank you to Longhorn at Coconut Point and Unilocal.
As everyone mentioned below there were so many delicious appetizers to choose from and so much to try. The pretzels with the dipping sauce and fritters were my favorite but I would eat each and every option again. They were all good. For the main dish Longhorn showed us a beautiful plate of steaks and we were able to choose whatever we liked. I was in red meat heaven and went with the bone-​in-​ribeye.
It was cooked as requested and it was tasty. I have had better at some high end steakhouses but this was also very good. We were treated to dessert and the night was complete. If you have an opportunity to attend a Unilocal event in the future definitely RSVP. It was awesome.

I know… I know… I’m a little late with this review. Better late than never, right?
It’s all in the name. Steaksgiving. STEAKSgiving. STEAKS! Any meat lover would have enjoyed this event. Longhorn and Holly went above and beyond my expectations. The food just kept coming out and every dish was excellent. My steak was cooked to perfection and their pumpkin lava cake was just heavenly!
Customer service was top notch. Waiters, greeters and hosts were warm and friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work at Longhorn.
As this was my first Unilocal event to attend, I was evenly nervous and excited. When I got there, I realized that everyone at that table was like me. Outgoing, friendly and a foodie at heart. I realized at that moment I was going to have a great time.

What a nice event!!! I am so happy I was included to this Unilocal event. I had a lot of fun! All the staff at Longhorn were very generous and made sure we were all comfortable. They also had fun things for us to do and even gave away prizes! The food was amazing. I have only been to a Longhorn Steakhouse once before and it was a long time ago so I don’t really remember what it was like. Well, the Mussel appetizers and Cornbread Fritters were my favorite out of all the appetizers we tried. My Filet was also delicious and cooked just the way I like it. It was also great to meet other Unilocalers and also see some friends I have already made from Unilocal.Holly did a great job organizing the event. This truly was a treat!!!

This was a very successful event! My first time attending a Unilocal event and can’t wait for more! I was very impressed! the restaurants atmosphere was great, the people I met were great, the service was great, and the food was delicious! All employees did a great job :)
They first started us out with appetizers; mussels, pretzel sticks, corn fritters, and wild west shrimp. ALL were amazing! The mussels were my favorite, couldn’t stop eating them. The manager gave us a nice history of the company and then presented us some steaks going over which one was which and how they are cooked. I ordered the blue ridge wedge salad along with the outlaw ribeye steak (to die for!!!) with a side of steakhouse mac and cheese. I’ve had steak at texas roadhouse and outback and by far this place was the best i’ve had. After eating all their yummy food and being super full they presented us with two desserts~ chocolate stampede and pumpkin spice lava cake. My favorite was the chocolate stampede.
Overall, this was a great event and looking forward to our next one! I will definitely be back to longhorn with my family!

AHHHH– what dining out was meant to be– great food, great place, great service, great people and great time! My total experience was wonderful– from being greeted by Stephen at the front door to being served my final beer by Hannah– and everything in between. Longhorn is a great place– never been to one before– thought to get a good steak I would have to settle for peanut shells on the floor with teenagers line dancing to loud country music– but found a new favorite steak place! There are a lot of nice steak places in Ft Myers– they usually have fresh great tasting food (if not they wont last long), but this place had a few extras that takes my usual four star rating and turns it into a five. Its the little thing that make a huge difference– like a frosted beer mug– thanks for the ice crystals in my Yuengling! Like everyone at the table being served their food at the same time. I hate when some people at the table have to wait for their food while others are eating– Kudos to the servers and cooks that brought every dinner at a 15 person table out at the same time! Like appetizers that everyone at the table can share– take a look at that shrimp boat! Like having the meat cooked to the exact ordered temperature– love it when medium comes out medium– thanks. Like when a knowledgeable wait staff gets involved in the dinner ordering process– Thanks Katie for informing me about my choices so that I could make the best decision. Like when the restaurant has an atmosphere for comfortable fun. I hate trying to have fun with a group if I am cramped and keep getting elbowed in the back of the head by wait staff trying to get through or by customers rushing to the bathroom. Besides great food– thanks Longhorn for the little extra things. And thanks fellow Unilocalers for rounding out the experience– I am glad to be part of your community– Salute! The first OYE SWFL was a proud moment… now we have a real sense of community! Holly was an excellent hostess with the mostest. I will admit that I attended a Longhorn Unilocal event in Atlanta last year so I knew what to expect from this one… I ate salad for lunch just to prepare. Our apps for sharing included a plethora of Wild West shrimp and Mussels. They also blessed us with my fave — the pretzel sticks with pub cheese and mustard. I could fill up on just that. We also got to munch on corn fritters. Longhorn gave us a lovely presentation on their steaks. I am a total sucker for prime rib and I don’t get it nearly enough so I was thrilled to see it as a entrée option for our private party. I had such a good time meeting all the new shiny faces. I was lucky enough to sit across from Nicole who entertained me the whole time. Carrie and I finally got to hang out and cheers to Moscow mules after months of talking on Unilocal.Yoanna was a riot and I didn’t get to talk to her nearly enough. Along with new faces, I was able to share this special night with Jamie, Matt, and Kristin Z… my Naples/​Bonita crew. The night ended beautifully with a warm pumpkin lava cake. Thank you Longhorn for hosting us and feeding us until our bellies almost exploded. Can’t wait to get us all together again soon!

An extraordinary «first» for SWFL Unilocal with an OYE evening hosted at Longhorn Steakhouse. A long table of dedicated Unilocalers attended Steak Univ, passed the house quiz, drank expertly made cocktails, then tucked into seemingly never ending selections of Longhorn’s best: Shared h’ors d’oervres of hush puppies, popcorn shrimp, succulent mussels, and beer bread. A collective vote of no favorites because they were all delicious.
Then proof for the Steak Univ graduates (aka local Unilocalers) that Longhorn can deliver red meat. I had a fork tender filet with mushrooms. A blue cheese, wedge salad that could feed a family of four. A loaded potato that would stop world famine if dropped from above. The crowning glory was shared mountains of chocolate layer cake accompanied by whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. And a seasonal specialty of pumpkin spice lava cake. The lava? A molten cache of sweet creamed icing.
The GM, and his super attentive, smiling staff treated us Unilocal peons like royalty. Thanks, Unilocal,for making such a delicious arrival in SW FL with the first Official Unilocal Event.

An absolutely delicious evening at the behest of Longhorn and fellow Unilocalers. I don’t think I’ve ever described an evening as «delicious» before, but there you have it. I just did. =)
Steak class was called into session as the manager, who clearly knew his stuff, educated us on the cuts of steak used by Longhorn. He explained to us that none of their steaks is ever frozen at any point. One of the cuts he presented was a 30 oz Porterhouse that he dubbed the «His and Hers», due to the fact that it includes two steaks in one: A New York strip and a fillet. I opted for a 10 oz fillet, which is quite sizable for such a cut. The manager said that there would be a steak test to follow. We thought he was kidding…
We were soon graced with appetizers that took the form of popcorn shrimp, mussels, and corn fritters that were about the size of a hushpuppy. We’ll just call them «corn-​puppies.
Now, I don’t generally order shrimp, and can pretty much take it or leave it. I’ll take these shrimp. I’ll take lots of these shrimp! Those corn-​puppies were sweet, delicious, and done to perfection. The sauces that accompanied these were not overpowering, nor were they necessary to make these items taste good. They were true accouterments.
Mussels: Never tried one. Didn’t know what to expect. There’s not much I won’t try, so I tried one. What I got was a very fresh, clean tasting bit o’ shellfish. Nice! I won’t shy away from these any longer.
My steak was delivered and the fillet was rare instead of the mid-​rare I requested. Perhaps the wonderful waitress misheard me. Not the biggest deal in my world at all, as I still like rare. There was also a big glob of fat hanging off the side of the steak, which should have been nowhere near a fillet, but again, not the biggest deal in my world. Steak things happen, I get it! It was still delicious, as was the accompanying fungus. You just can’t go wrong with fungus and steak.
«Delicious» isn’t a powerful enough word to describe the dessert in the form of a pumpkin spice lava cake. I want more of these. I want these at my beck and call. I would be as big as a house in no time, and I’m not so sure I’d even care.

Ok here we go. I walked up and was pleasantly greeted by not one but two people who opened the door «NICE» then someone else greeted me and showed me to my table. I was then taken by the most amazing smile by a lovely young lady by the name of Sam please remember her name and Katie. I was given a breakdown of the menu and all my questions answered and the place was immaculate. I was surprised to hear it has been there for 8 years. It looked brand new. Four cuts of steak were brought out to show me that they are always made FRESH. YES FOLKS FRESH NEVER FROZEN!!! I ordered the outlaw an WOW! The grill marks and the juiciness mmmm with a side of crunchy fresh asparagus to die for and the perfect margarita was just that PERFECTION. Also the appetizer corn fritters were made extremely well and the dipping sauce AAAMAAAZING. Finally dessert I personally do not like anything pumpkin but that pumpkin cake I could do seconds. I met an amazing group of people at the Steaksgiving Unilocal Event in SWFL I hope to continue the new found friendships. The conversations were funny the games were great. What an awesome event and great group of Unilocalers! It was such a privilege to be a part of the Steaksgiving at Longhorn Steakhouse. Katie and Sam were great, attentive servers throughout the evening. Longhorn sure knew how to start the night off right with some Sweet Corn Fritters and Baked Pretzels with… wait for it… BEER CHEESE!
We were then given a short introduction to Longhorn and their wide range of steaks. Now this is where I should have paid more attention, because I’m pretty sure I failed the quiz. I think I was too distracted by the HUGE steaks they had beautifully displayed on a platter. It was great finding out that their steaks were fresh, never frozen.
I must admit I didn’t eat too much of my salad. Although it was good, I was saving room for the sirloin steak and mashed potatoes I’d ordered. My sirloin was cooked to a perfect medium temperature, a feat I thought impossible with so many steaks being cooked to order at once! Kudos to the chefs, because I don’t think anyone had a complaint about the temperature of their beef! As a side note… there’s no need for salt, pepper, steak sauce, ANYTHING. The steaks are seasoned to perfection at Longhorn. I will admit I slathered some mashed potatoes on my steak. I’m a sucker for carbs on my protein :)
My one gripe? Not saving enough room to have more dessert! That Supreme Chocolate dessert was da bomb dot com.

How awesome was that??? That was my first Unilocal event– and I was absolutely impressed! Thank you! I would also like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone. It seems we all blended well together, and I appreciated the warmth and friendliness of you all. I really loved matching faces on Unilocal to live people at the restaurant!
Was the food amazing or what? Seriously impressed. I had no idea– and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and happy.
I am even more excited to be a part of the Unilocal community! Thanks again for including me. I hope to see everyone again very soon!
