Specialties

YOLO Board Adventures Sanibel is a stand-up paddleboard venture dedicated to sharing a passion for Southwest Florida’s distinctive environment with anyone who wants to experience this coast from the unique perspective of a stand-up paddleboard! We offer lessons and eco-tours, family and group outings, as well as paddleboard rentals and sales.

More than just a sport, SUP is a lifestyle that anyone can adopt at any age. YOLO Board Adventures Sanibel makes it easy to get started by bringing the experience to customers at varied locations around Sanibel, Captiva, and the surrounding area. Novices learn under the tutelage of certified instructors who are happy to share not only their expertise, but also their enthusiasm for the island’s thriving aquatic habitats. More often than not, paddlers can plan on encounters with gentle, slow-moving manatees, playful dolphin and magnificent bird life.

«You Only Live Once» is our motto and our creed and a philosophy we hope our customers will adopt in their day-to-day lives. While paddling with YOLO Board Adventures Sanibel may be many people’s first experience on a paddleboard, we are confident it won’t be their last.

Meet the Business Owner

Mark M.

Business Owner

It could be said that Mark Melancon was born to be a waterman. Born in 1964 in New Orleans, Louisiana, a state synonymous with water, Mark found his sea legs before he could walk. The Melancon family spent almost as much time on, or in, the water as they did dry land. Mark grew up paddling pirogues (the South’s version of a flat bottomed canoe) through Louisiana’s bayous and waterways, learned to read the waters of the Gulf of Mexico aboard small powerboats, and does not remember a time when he couldn’t swim.

As an adult living in port cities like San Francisco and Miami, kayaking, scuba diving and water-skiing became passions. Since moving to Southwest Florida in 2005, kiteboarding has topped his list of «best things EVER to do on the water.»

He currently lives in the waterman’s paradise of Sanibel with his wife Dalia, a dopey but lovable chocolate lab named Beaux, an ornery little parrot called Yazee, and Charlie, an elderly, peach-faced lovebird.
