Always a good meal here! A hidden gem in the Mohawk Valley. My wife had the fried cod and I had the duck breast. We always try to avoid desserts, but fail here. Always new and unigue offerings with a lot of local ingredients.

I can’t believe this is in Fort Plain and hidden from mainstream. Make the trip but be prepared to make a tough decision— there was not one thing on the menu that wasn’t appealing. We did the fish and chips, rib eye and swordfish. All were amazing and the bird dock appetizer was off the charts. Wide beer and wine selection were great. Only thing better would be a liquor license in order to get a martini, however the food makes up for it twice over.

We had a great meal for Valentines weekend. Excellent prime rib, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Im not a big fan of green beans generally but these were some of the best ive had. They all disappeared from my plate. The chocolate cake for dessert was yummilicious.

Food fantastic, local micros, good wine list, service excellent. You will not find better in at least a thirty mile radius. The décor made me sad, though, with the exception of the many framed antique local photographs. The front room in particular is harshly lit, and some pretty awful Christmas decorations were still up as of last weekend. It was about forty degrees in the bathroom.

The Table at Fort Plain is the textbook definition of a hidden gem. My boyfriend and I are staying in Little Falls for the weekend and needed a good dinner spot tonight. A few nearby options came up, but The Table peaked our interest based on photos and reviews, of course. Appetizer: the hand-cut chips with aioli were just an awesome way to start our meal. They’re light and crispy, but oh so flavorful. The aioli has the perfect kick to it. Meal: I went for the baseball steak and didn’t regret one bite. It was cooked to perfection and everything from the sauce to accoutrements was flawless as well. My boyfriend got the seared salmon. He only let me have one bite– that should tell you it was delicious :) Other: we weren’t going to get dessert– and we didn’t order it– but along with the check, the super sweet waitress brought a half-portion of the evening’s special orangey-bourbon cake. It was heaven!(And I’m usually not huge on orange-infused desserts). We met the chef, as he visited each table, and he was so delightful. It was clear that he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about what his guests think of their experience. It’s unlikely that we’ll end up back in this area, but if we ever happen to find ourselves out here, we will ABSOLUTELY dine again!

This place is a gem. High-end food in a comfortable environment, and the prices are outstanding for the food quality and portion size — feels like a steal. I really liked how flexible the chef was to accommodate us vegetarians. Make sure to save room because dessert is a must.

Ate at The Table during a bike trip on the Erie Canal and staying overnight in Fort Plain. The restaurant is located right in the village and we walked there from the Bed and Breakfast that we stayed in. They have a good selection of draft beers and wine. The wait staff was great, keeping our water filled and checking back at appropriate times. I had a risotto dish that was very good. My wife had prime rib which was kind of tough, otherwise this place would have rated an excellent. We would definitely go back, but would not order any prime rib again.

My family and I thought that The Table seemed like wise choice of dinner while in the area, a surprising 5⁄5 stars on Unilocal and a refreshing selection of dishes. Our experience started off okay, we were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken by a waitress on her smartphone(which I’ll admit was more than a tad alarming) along with a request for an appetizer, the onion and Brie topped toast to be exact. We received the appetizer quickly but we’re a bit disappointed, it was overly sweet and the onions had caused the toast to go soft. We hoped that the main courses would be better, we ordered the seasoned salmon along with the battered haddock and the glazed pork chop. After a while(and after later arrival was served their main dish) we finally received one and only one dish, the beer battered haddock. The waitress claimed to have mixed up our table with another(surprising considering that she took our orders with a smartphone) attempting to serve us a steak rather than a pork chop. After pointing this out it took about 10 minutes for her to return with an apology and another 5 for the rest of the table to receive their food. The salmon was served oddly, perched over noodles in a soup bowl, the haddock was of a stunningly large portion with a few potato chips scattered underneath, and the pork chop was relatively good. Hoping that dessert was going to bring us back around, we ordered a lavender honey panna cotta which was rather off putting upon tasting. The panna cotta itself was overwhelmingly sweet, as though attempting to hide the infusion of lavender with sugar, and topped with a centimeter thick layer of honey and altogether too much whipped cream, I guess it came down to quantity over quality with this one. I will not be going back.

Tonight for our anniversary, a nice Guinness for starters and Gnocchi with chicken followed by a strawberry laced ricotta cheese filled crêpe. My wife had haddock and a brownie sunday for dessert, another good meal.

In town for a special occasion and took my family and friends to a new establishment although it’s been here three years. I looked on Unilocal and got awesome reviews for this restaurant and we decided to try it on a Saturday night. Although it is not touted as a vegan friendly, the chef made a personal appearance to my table and made sure that my dish was made special as he eats very much like a vegan. I let him surprise me and he served in a pan crusted tofu with mushrooms and I miso kimchi sauce that was to die for. The service was fabulous, and the ambience was conducive to a wonderful dinner, Which was such a surprise and treat for Fort Plain. I have included pictures of our dinners and I by far recommend the chocolate brownie sundae over all of the desserts. It was beyond what I expected, As we ordered the dark chocolate and coffee moose which was very fresh, the peanut butter and chocolate tort which was a tad on the sweet side. The over all Takeaway is you cannot go wrong and the seating is spaced accordingly so you have your privacy yet can enjoy the ambience of the room. Our waitress was Becca and her enthusiasm and skills were equal to any restaurant in New York City I’ve ever been to. I can’t say enough good about this restaurant and what Aaron the owner chef has going here. He’s a local and has brought a wonderful entity to this area.

I’ve never written a review for a restaurant, but the Table at Fort Plain is so good that I felt compelled to do so. My wife and I travel frequently between New York’s Capital Region and the Finger Lakes, stopping at numerous restaurants along the way. Hands down, the Table at Fort Plain prepares the best food that is within striking distance of the Thruway. While I’m stressing proximity to the Thruway, The Table is a worthy restaurant destination even if you are not traveling. The chef creates changing seasonal dishes that are sourced locally(to the extent possible). We have dined there several times at different seasons and all of the dishes have been creative and superbly prepared. As another reviewer wrote, NYC restaurant dishes at upstate prices. The staff at The Table is a team who works well together and who take pride in the fine food they serve in collaboration with the Chef. You owe it to yourself to dine at the Table at Fort Plain, as a destination or when traveling New York Thruway’s east — west corridor.

What is this place doing in Fort Plain? I heard rumors of this unbelievably good restaurant with food that tasted like it was from NYC, and I thought it was ridiculous. But this place is pretty awesome. I ordered duck, and it was a little chewy. I got it medium, but it could have been cooked better. I had to do the old chew-and-spit so I didn’t eat a bunch of sinew. Still, it tasted really good and the presentation was lovely. I got this ridiculously creative/cool/weird dessert that was like freeze-dried green tea ice cream cut into triangles. Yeah, it’s hard to explain. It was awesome though. The chef here is very creative, and apparently the menu changes nightly. The prices are really reasonable for high-quality food. Everything on the menu sounded great, and I had a hard time deciding what to order. Everyone in my party was satisfied, except my grandma(who ordered some weird deep fried fish thing… Which I knew was a bad idea). I would love to go back and try some of the other stuff on the menu. Props to the chef for being really innovative and coming up with ideas I never would have thought of in my wildest food-dreams.

Back again last night. This time better than before. Mussels in green curry. Salmon chowder. Lamb chops. Scallops on a bed of thinly sliced and seasonal vegetables. Ricotta cheese cake. Bread pudding with caramel sauce. Superb. Four very happy diners. The only disappointment is that sometimes the kitchen will run out of items — understandably, since the menu changes daily. And, well, those curtains are hideous. But don’t let the curtains keep you away.

We enjoyed the food at The Table very much, and the service during our visit was very attentive. The server seemed nervous, maybe because we were from out of town. On the night we went, the majority of the menu was fish or seafood, along with two steaks, one roast chicken dish, and one vegetarian risotto. We didn’t have any seafood, but the highlight of the food for us was a juicy and flavorful beer-brined roast chicken with seasonal greens and roasted potatoes. That dish was perfect, but another entrée of steak, paired with asparagus & mashed potatoes, was a little bit clumsy due to an uneven level of cook on the huge portion of steak. The appetizer of caramelized onion and brie on toasted baguette served the two of us generously, but we wished the onions had been caramelized further. The prices seem about right for the dishes, and we liked it enough to return. We only wondered why they featured Saratoga beers as their ‘local’ craft brews when Ommegang is so close by.

The food and the service were both GREAT. There were 6 of us, so we tried a number of things and they were all delicious. The menu changes regularly, so no point in recommending anything specific. Though our group had the scallops, tuna, swordfish, a pot pie(great crust) and a pasta dish and everyone was very impressed. One in our group has food allergies, and the chef came out to talk to her and was very accommodating. They had 2 types of freshly made sangria, watermelon+lime and I forget the 2nd. But both were delicious — very tasty without being too sweet. They had fresh made waffle potato chips as an appetizer, with a chipotle dip. Simple, but amazing. For the quality of the food I found the prices to be inexpensive.

Chef Aaron makes wonderful food, way above much of the cooking you will find anywhere. For it to be located in Fort Plain, in the Mohawk Valley, far from any urban or even sub-sub-urban area is something of a miracle. I’ve been there about 5 times now, as I travel up that way monthly. First — wonderful soups! The menu changes so I won’t give a specific recommendation. If it sounds good, it will be. Entrees — There’s usually a limited selection. This is a place in a small town; drawing a small crowd, unless there’s something booked: no way that The Table could present an overlarge menu and do it so well. Go to the website for samples. What my SO and I have had that we liked — a lot — includes: Seared Duck Breast, Roast lamb, Scallops in a lemon sauce, and even the Fried Haddock is special. All with delicious and creative sides, based on herbs and vegetables in season. There’s a couple of local beers, along with some standards and wines. If you go there, this is about 3.5−4 miles from the Thruway exit(# 24) in Canajoharie; less than 30 miles from Cooperstown, and about 46 miles west of Albany via the Thruway(measured from exit 24, the Northway exit). My thought is also — if you are traveling with a large group, I’d give the Table a call ahead of time. If you are traveling through that way this spring, summer or fall, give it a try. You’ll enjoy it. Your support will guarantee that I can keep going back!(as in he won’t leave). Note — I don;‘t know if they have hard liquor as I drink beer or wine.
