My business purchased 2 new backup credit card terminals from RLB last year.
Time after time we had issues with one of these terminals and thought it is was because of the credit processing company. After much troubleshooting with the processing company yielding the repeated errors, we finally figured out that one of our new terminals was defective and this was why we had so many problems. This situation created a forensic accounting nightmare for us as our system was not batching out as it should have on a nightly basis.
When my Engineer contacted RLB to get a replacement for the defective terminal, it was and still is an ongoing battle to get simple customer service. This company should have offered to replace the defective terminal. But instead, they actually argued with us, telling us that the terminals are perfectly fine and good, that the problem was us and not their terminals.
When RLB’s technician said he’s been doing this for over 20 years and the terminals are good, my Engineer had to pull rank and stated he’d been doing this over 40 years and troubleshot the problems to the bad terminal.
RLB was resistant to help us swap out the terminal in order to
resolve the issue with the obviously defective terminal.
NOW we must wait to have the terminal repaired by the manufacturer.
If this had been a used terminal, I would expect this sort of treatment.
As it stands, I do not expect to pay for new equipment and then be
forced to wait while it is being made to work as it should have in the first place.
One last comment, my IT guy went to great lengths to find a way to CALL RLB, their phone # was not to be found, on any document, receipt or anywhere else.
He had to search business listings for Maryland.
And when he DID call, the owner was shocked to be called on his phone number, and inquired, «Where did you get this number?!»
NO ONE was supposed to have this number!
Any merchant who sells equipment to retail businesses and does not make a telephone contact readily available, in my book, is not doing business in an «above the table» fashion!
I would not recommend this merchant.

I found this business when I was looking on EBay for a credit card terminal.
He sold me a refurbished Nurit 8020 wireless terminal for a reasonable price and set me up with a wireless gateway and processing company that cost me much less than my local bank or other processor services that I had checked, and without anywhere near as much paperwork.
When I have had problems with the terminal, Russell has always responded quickly, even when I have called in the middle of the night (he’s 4 times zones earlier than me). He has always provided fantastic service, and even shipped me a replacement terminal the next day on a weekend when I dropped my original terminal and damaged it.
I have happily recommended him to other business folks who want to start accepting credit cards but don’t want the hassles and paperwork our local banks require.
