Fort Worth Academy

Enrolling my children in Fort Worth Academy is the very best decision we’ve ever made for our children. Our twins have been students since kindergarten, and this year are 5^th graders in the middle school. Every day they are both excited to go to school where they won’t be trapped in desks filling in worksheet, rather they will be immersed in experiences. Through those experiences, the content becomes part of them rather than facts they memorize, test over and forget. Curriculum at the Academy focuses on Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation and all of the character attributes necessary for creating, innovating and community building.
The school is committed to very small classes — no more than 15 in a class and two rooms per grade level. This allows the dynamic teachers to provide individualized attention focusing on strengthening each child’s strengths which gives kids the confidence to tackle challenging material. Their teachers constantly look for the best way to engage each child and encourage them to go all in. Kids who are accelerated, are given opportunities to explore to the edges of the ability.
The academics are incredible, but even more compelling is the character education that the kids don’t even know they are getting — we embrace the diversity of our school, community and global community beyond skin color to include culture, religion, philosophy, socio-​economics and much more. Our students have connections with students across the globe and participate in shared lessons with friends abroad.
The Academy’s innovative approach to integrating technology throughout the curriculum including a 1:1 Computer program throughout all grades. K & 1 have tablets and Smartboards, 2^nd — 4^th have their own laptops in the classroom and 5^th — 8^th graders each have a touchscreen laptops all provided by the school. These aren’t used as a glorified typewriter rather they are integrated into the learning process. I can’t even describe how this happens, but its amazing to watch (come out for a visit and see for yourself!)
I know some people are concerned about K — 8 school, but the Academy is K-​8 on purpose and by design. This structure allows students to engage in age-​appropriate pursuits and events, without the distraction of upperclassmen — who experience a very different set of academic, social and emotional stresses and pressures. Therefore, our students are able to ‘stay younger’ for just a little bit longer. assume authentic leadership roles early, which results in greater levels of confidence and self-​esteem as they progress toward high school. Our students are exceptional graduates who are aggressively recruited by premier high schools.

I feel so incredibly lucky that our son is able to attend kindergarten at Fort Worth Academy. He is happy to go to school everyday and is happy when I pick him up. This morning he asked if he had school today and said, «the best days are school days».
FWA caps their classrooms with 15 students. This is perfect for my son, who loves to be creative. The low student to teacher ratio allows my son’s teachers to allow him (and all the students) to really branch out creatively and focus on each child’s ability level in all subjects. It also insures that students have the ability to advance to the next level when they are ready, while allowing others to keep learning on pace.
I knew FWA was the right school for us from the beginning. I wanted a school the devoted energy to supporting every child’s individuality. When I went on tours at FWA, I saw students getting individual attention in almost every classroom and all the children (and the teachers) seemed happy!
I also love that FWA is K-​8. This allows the children to be children. I wanted him to have an elementary school experience, to be young, and to feel at home in his school. And in 9 years when he is off to high school, FWA students have close to a 100% acceptance rate to their first choice high school.
Fort Worth is fortunate to have many great schools, but this one is special. I honestly cannot say enough great things about FWA.

Don’t put your kids through the misery that is this snooty, pretentious private institution. They’ll tell you how much they hated it years after its too late.
