Japanese Garden At The Fort Worth Botanical Garden

Stunning. A respite. Able to block out the noise of the surrounding city and allow one to simply drink in the simplicity and perishability that marks Japanese aesthetics. Worth a trip from out of town to enjoy contemplation and rest.

The Japanese Garden is very pretty. Its clean, well taken care of, and a great way to spend a couple hours. It is part of the Botanical Gardens, offers free parking, and is open everyday 9 – 5. The entrance fee is low and well worth it. I went on Easter Sunday, and there were several families having fun, enjoying the day, and feeding the fish. This is a great spot for photography and for a wedding as well.

It’s moderately ok. They need more Asian stuff. I do like the giant Zen garden. But it really wasn’t that interesting. They also need more stuff in the gift shop.

The event they had for the butterfly viewing was nice. I brought my niece with me and she really enjoyed her time we spent there. The only downside was it was super humid and bc of the humidity I could smell b/​o.

Probably my favorite thing I’ve ever done in Fort Worth. It’s so beautiful here… make some time to visit!

Went to the Japanese Garden for our Valentine’s Weekend double date and absolutely loved it! The weather was great, making the couple of hours spent there an amazing experience. I had been here almost 20 years ago with my family when I was a young child, and it was as beautiful as I had remembered it. The highlight of the visit was snapping a photo of the oh-​so-​colorful wood duck! Overall, it’s a great place for family, friends, and dates.
Pro tip: bring quarters! The garden has several areas for you to feed the koi fish! Locate a dispenser, pop in a quarter, and out comes fish food! My favorite place to feed them would have to be near the sitting area where the pond is separated by a short concrete wall. You can get some great shots of the fish from this area, but be careful not to get wet!

Beautiful amazing gardens! There are lots of stairs and hills so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
There’s a large parking lot, but there were so many cases parked along the road so we snagged the first spot we could get along the road. Little did we know preppie were parking there to go to the other nearby parks.
The gift shop is full of great trinkets and scarves. So many beautiful and inexpensive scarves! However, ghee were so many people in the shop and I found it cramped and hot.
It was a lovely experience!

My friend and I had intentions to go to both the Botanical Gardens and the Japenese Gardens. It was fairly easy to find, and had lots of parking. We went to the Japense first and I actually prefer it. However we did go in the winter when not many things were in bloom, but the Japenese Gardens were still beautiful. Lots of places to walk around and sit. I bet its even more beautiful in the spring Even the gift store had some neat things to buy it. I want to come back in the spring for sure.

This place is just gorgeous. Fall can be a little hit or miss trying to catch the Japanese maples in all their red beauty, it just depends on how winter rolls in! Too often a hard freeze comes along to ruin it! Early December was the best time this year! I had a photo shoot here mid-​October and it was still 99% green. But you know what? Still gorgeous. ($ 75 fee for professional shoots here but to their credit, they did not kick us out after closing – they had recently moved up their closing hours.)
$ 5 entry soooo worth it and frankly if you live nearby I highly recommend the membership. Peaceful sanctuary any time of day and big bonus if you have a wee baby. Mine loves coming here – and she’s finally getting old enough to realize how impressive the koi are! (Oh yes – bring quarters for fish food. Enormously entertaining, actually!)

Great garden to visit. Just a couple of bucks to get in. It is well maintained and I enjoy the visit every time.

Even on a hot summer day, the shade from all the trees kept me from sun burning. This place is a good representation of a Japanese garden. The large ponds have many fishes and turtles that you can feed with the $ 0.25 food dispensers. Look for the gigantic old turtle that tries to hide from its audience. I would love to come back to see the Fall color foliage.

Very nicely designed and fairly authentic garden. My son really enjoyed feeding the koi fish, but I wish the ticket taker had informed us there are several spots to feed the fish. We spent all our money at the first stop. The pavilion is very pretty and I can imagine it would be a very nice setting for a wedding in the cooler months.
The two ladies in the gift shop we’re welcoming and friendly.
Make sure that you stop by the Rose Garden and fountain court. Very pretty even in the off season.

Ft. Worth Japanese gardens, it was my first time here and I left with the impression that there is room for improvement and I really wasn’t too impressed. There are plenty of koi fish and lots of water. In comparison to the Portland Japanese gardens which I have been to, that is a much better and more authentic Japanese garden my opinion. I hope to come back again someday and see some changes but beyond that I’ll have to give this a three out of five because of the fish.

Why is it that when I lived in Texas that I never came here? I used to work in Fort Worth and where I worked was not that far from there. Well, no matter, I finally got here and I was glad that I did.
It was told to me by a buddy that I used to work with the the Japanese Gardens were having a festival and a special weekend going on, so since I was down here visiting my daughter, I thought this would be a fun thing to do.
First off, the place is beautiful. It wasn’t too expensive to get in and I even got my daughter a Year of the Ram shirt. There were lots of kid friendly activities going on inside, including making origami animals and creating a fish print. Obviously, there were plenty of large koi fish to feed and plenty of bamboo around so a certain kiddo could pretend she was a panda.
There were also martial arts demonstrations and some drumming (which we didn’t get to see) and even a tea ceremony was going on as we left.
It’s a cool and tranquil experience. We enjoyed it very much and would go back.

Beautiful place for a day trip. You can take a lot of nice photos here for weddings, etc. Feed the Koi fishes, kids will have a blast doing that. 25 cents machines located near the fishes. Free admission to Botanical Garden, but $ 5 to enter the Japanese garden.

This place was so great. The gf and I decided to take a day trip to Fort Worth since we’ve never been and this was our first stop.
We’ve been to the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco (JTGSF) so I’m using that as my point of reference.
We saw the fattest koi fish ever AND we got to feed them! They have these pellets that you can purchase for 25¢ and just throw into the lake. The koi fish are so numerous and big that when they scramble at the food, a lot of water is splashed around and it’s pretty loud. It was adorable to watch little kids do it while laughing and screaming.
It is cheaper here than JTGSF ($ 5 vs. $ 7 per person). However, there was a sign that said you could have free admission if you joined the Botanic Society but I didn’t really look into that then but I’m considering it now BC it was so peaceful!
There were less detailed structures than JTGSF but the sheer expanse of the garden made up for that. It was 7 acres of beauty, serenity, and family fun. The waterfall, bridges, tea buildings, bamboo, flowing water and rock structures were amazing. My favorite building was the Pavilion area. It was simple yet spectacular! It was elevated and allowed you to view everything and with no one else in that area, it gave my gf and I a chance to goof around and be silly, run and jump around, and take goofy pics.
We didn’t buy anything at the gift shop but I would go back for a $ 30 bonsai tree, I’ve always wanted one. Before we exited, we saw a small pond with tadpoles that I assume we’re future koi fish and baby turtles! It’s nice that they protect the offspring and keep them in a safe, separate area to thrive.
This is a great place for a family to spend a of couple hours if you’re in the area!

This is a very relaxing place found in the heart of a busy city. The calming streams nestled in the comfort of a beautiful arboretum. What is not to love? It costs a few bucks to get in but is well worth it. You can sit and relax or just walk the soothing paths while you hear nature all around you. Don’t forget to bring some quarters to feed the fish. We came here when everything was everything was waking up from its dormant winters sleep.
I will definitely stop by again.

This was by far my favorite part of the gardens. It’s $ 5 a person but it was worth it. Everything was so well taken care of and just beautiful. The ponds were full of hungry koi fish that you can feed. Don’t forget your quarters. We also saw cranes and fancy ducks. It was interesting seeing all the different kinda of grasses and bamboo.
Don’t forget to visit the gift shop as well. There are tons of cool goodies. My hubby bought a bonsai tree for only $ 20. The lady working the shop was very nice and explained who grew them and there was a phone number if we had any questions about the little tree. We will definitely be back here again. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

So beautiful, peaceful, and meticulously crafted. A wonderful and impressive homage to the history, culture, architecture, art, and traditions of the wondrously sculpted gardens of Japan. Yes, folks, right here in Fort Worth, Texas. Come to learn about another culture during one of their many festivals, come to soak in the amazing scenery and aromas, come to browse their sweet gift shop, and come to relax in the sunlight. All of the above! And if you’re getting married soon or planning some sort of wedding or reception, you should totally consider this Japanese Garden. It won’t be cheap, but it’ll be magical and memorable and I’m inviting myself!
7 acres of sprawling paths, lush greenery, authentic structures, and mysterious trees; this garden offers so much to immerse yourself in. A favorite is the koi pond for sure, which houses thousands of beautiful carp that you can feed and even pet. You won’t feel like you’re at some dirty petting zoo, don’t worry. It’s whimsical! There are stepping stones throughout the pond so you can be a bit daring and hop along the water. I wonder how many people (children?) have fallen into this water… surely someone has. Heh.
Since this is a specialty garden, you pay $ 5 to enter. It’s 100% worth the price, and I think 5 bucks is a steal! $ 3 for kids and $ 4.50 for seniors. They’re open from 9 – 5 (9 – 7 during Daylight Saving Time), so you can spend the whole day enjoying this visionary garden. Pay an extra $ 5 to go on a docent-​guided tour! I like to show myself around, but it’s always a pleasure to pick up some extra information about the «why’s» and «how’s» of all you’ll see.
There is always an annual fall festival and an annual spring festival here… I can’t tell you which is better (depends on the weather at that time, I’d say), but both are beautiful and fun. Nothing too crazy, but a peek at Japanese traditional dance and tea ceremonies. They’re humble festivals that seem to draw lots of children. Awesome, but I prefer to go on a quiet day and roam along by myself, enjoying the natural secrecy of the environment.
