Legacy Mutual Mortgage

I would not recommend Legacy. Just overall was not a great experience for my husband and I as first time home buyers. We felt very stressed. We felt rushed throughout the whole process. They were quick to get back with you if you had any questions but its like they try to rush the whole process just to make the closing date vs doing what is best for their client even if that means the closing date has to be pushed back a few weeks.

Legacy Mutual has fair interest rates, don’t get me wrong.
The problem lies in their level of customer service standards at various points during the loan application process.
First, on the day before my mortgage was scheduled to close, I was told that my tax return for the current year would be required. This despite Legacy Mutual already having my tax returns for the previous two years, in addition to a plethora of other financial records. I asked why and failed to get an intelligible answer even from their manager. Yet she was adamant that this was «their policy». A wonderful thing to learn at the last minute.
What was the only way to solve this problem? You guessed it, file my tax return — even when I don’t owe a penny of tax and am not ready to file because of missing tax documents. This means I had the pleasure of refiling my taxes later when I received all my docs.
Second, after delaying my closing date to the following week, I drove out to meet the notary Legacy Mutual arranged. Upon arriving at the meeting place, I was informed that they had messed up the paperwork I was supposed to sign. The paperwork would need to be reprinted. My trip was entirely wasted and I had to meet a second notary.
Last-​second surprises and making the customer repeat his /​her effort seem to be a trend here.
Finally, no attempt was made to explain how I should pay my mortgage monthly. I had to inquire about this myself a week before my first payment date.
No apologies were made for any of the above.

Legacy is a wonderful lending company with a smart team that is adamant about meeting closing dates. However, FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS BEWARE! If you do not know every detail about the loan process before buying a home, do not go to Legacy. They will be unable to assist you and will make the process a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
