A Fort Worth native, I graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1978. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art from UTA in 1993. I graduated OCU School of Law in 1997 and gained admittance to the State Bar of Texas in 1998.

I started working as a farmhand and ranch manager in 1974. I am a factory certified Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi mechanic and worked my way through college fixing cars. I was a partner in the law firm of Hancock and Irby, LLP. I owned and operated FW4Rent​.com and Matthew Hancock, PC Property Management, and owned and operated the Pit Bar-​Be-​Que Restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas which won best ribs in 2008 from the FWWeekly.

I have sixteen years experience as a lawyer including drafting estate plans, last wills, living wills, and other legal documents, probate and litigating property rights.
