I hate to give only 2 stars because Dr. Loy is great, but his assistant/​secretary Myra is completely incompetent and ruined my experience to the point that I will NOT be back.
When I originally called to schedule my appointment, Myra was rude, and I almost thought about not making the appointment, but they accepted my insurance, the location was convenient and the reviews were great, so I stuck with it.
When I arrived, Myra told me that I wasn’t covered by insurance. She told me I would have to pay or come back another time after it was figured out. I explained that I had looked it up through my insurance website and that Dr. Loy was listed as a covered provider. She told me I wasn’t covered, and it wasn’t until I asked if I needed to call myself that she started making calls and realized that I was covered.
While that’s extremely annoying, I can deal with that as well, but that wasn’t everything. I ordered contacts at the end of my appointment and asked that they be shipped to my house because it was hard for me to get back to pick them up. I received my contacts in the mail about a week or two later, and then I received a call from Myra telling me that my contacts were ready for pickup. I called her back and explained that I had received them in the mail. I couldn’t remember if I had ordered one box or two (and maybe it was possible one was sent to me and one was sent to them?), so I asked her how many I had ordered. She rudely told me she didn’t know, so I asked her to look in my chart. She looked and said that I had only ordered one box, so the company or insurance must have made a mistake and paid for two. She told me I could stop by to pick them up, and I told her I would be in the next day.
The next day, I left work early and arrived at Dr. Loy’s office at 4:30 pm, but no one was there even though their hours are listed until 5 pm! I called and left a voicemail that I would not be able to leave work early again to come and get them and that I would like them shipped to my house.
I didn’t hear anything or receive any contacts for the next two weeks, so I called back, and Myra said she had them ready to go that day… that she was just waiting on the mailman to pick up the mail.
Three weeks or so later I still had not received them in the mail, so I called again. She told me I was wrong and that I had already received the ones directly in the mail. I kindly reminded her that she had told me there was an extra box sent to them that she was going to send to me, and she finally remembered and said she would put them in the mail.
It’s now been another 2 – 3 weeks later, and I’m finally tired of giving her another chance. I’ve been extremely patient thus far, but I cannot handle such incompetence.

Don’t hesitate to make an appointment with Dr, Loy. Most thorough vision exam I’ve had in years. No hard sell tactics. He is now my go-​to guy. Just wish I’d found him years ago because I’ve been trying to find a good eye doctor for a long time.

Dr. Loy is a very knowledgeable optometrist, who also diagnoses on eye diseases and can refer patients to opthamology specialists. He performed more tests than any optometrist I’d seen and was very patient in answering all my questions. He also seems more up to date with current opthalmic/​vision research.
He also never try to hard-​sell his service (unlike most places that provide eyewear). He’s pretty easy-​going and relax. If you’re interested in vision therapy, go ask this doctor!
