Dr. Steve Hotchkiss is the President and Owner of Veterinary Health Care Concepts, a unique full-​service business that provides pets and their owners exceptional medical care and luxury resort services. Dr. Hotchkiss received his B.S. and Doctorate degrees from Texas A&M and has been in private practice in Fort Worth ever since.

I previewed The Grand before boarding Bob, our cat. Thought it would be fine for a couple of days. I brought Bob in with his blanket, food, and thyroid med (a topical administered to the inner ear… just a bead size amount). Went over everything with the tech. Got Bob a window unit and added play time to the tab. The next morning I pulled up the cat cam for the first time and saw Bob being yanked out, held tightly and awkwardly, and a syringe being jammed in his ear. Thanks to that cat cam, I called and told the front desk what I was seeing. Bob was immediately transferred to the hospital next door where he was admitted for the remainder of his stay.
The bottom line: he was given a large overdose of his medicine and his hind leg was injured when he was yanked out of his cage. His blanket remained in his carrier. Bob was not well-​cared for.
Bob is a docile and very agreeable cat. The rough treatment he received was unnecessary and the overdosing is inexcusable.
We will never board any pet at The Grand Spa.

This is my favorite place to bring my dog! I’ve been going here since they opened in 2006. They are kind helpful and Maya loves them. Maya (my dachshund mix) is very nervous and can be very fearful about new places, but with their individualized one on one time and in room play time it’s made it easier an easier to bring her here and she gets excited now when we show up. I don’t travel very much maybe 5 times a year but each time I do she stays here.
I want to note that I recently moved to Dallas due to a promotion and not one place in Dallas was up to The Grand Pet Resorts standards. It’s this reason i will continue to drive the 44 miles to bring Maya here!

We take our miniature schnauzer to The Grand for a groom once every six weeks. The front office staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming. They handle our sometimes anxious dog with care and they are reasonably priced compared to competitors. I love that they call a day before to remind us of the appointment. They also call with any questions they have about our groom requests. The Grand also calls our vet if we are due to give them shot records (I always forget to bring them). Knowing that they are reliable with logistic aspects makes taking the dog for a groom much easier.
As far as the groom goes, we’ve had an overall pleasant experience. A few weird cuts now and then, but nothing too bad. When we have been dissatisfied, the staff makes every effort to rectify it (i.e. taking notes about what we’re dissatisfied about and offering discounts for future visits).

Their grooming services are excellent. I used to get my 7 pound Shih Tzu groomed at Petsmart and knew something was definitely missing. When I picked her up from the grand spa she looked like a superstar. She Was almost a different color from being shampooed so well. She was fluffy and smell so good my six-​year-​old son wasn’t sure if it was his same dog! Make sure your shot records are up-​to-​date as they will not except dogs that have not had their Bordetella shots which I’m in complete agreement with. Full grooming with glands cleaned was about $ 47. Their rates are very clearly posted. The intake staff could stand to be friendly or two brand-​new customers and nervous first time pets.

I take my sweet Sandee Mae there for her regular bath and shave. I trust no one but them. After a horrible experience at petsmart, I brought her to them and they did very well. Been to other groomers, but they are the only ones I trust.

We hesitantly took our sweet little dog to the Grand and boarded him for a week. The people there are friendly and you can tell they love animals. I was less nervous after talking to them and having all of my questions answered (Will he be left in a room all day? Is there a lot of barking? Can I call every day to check on him? etc.).
We opted to add «playcare» each day so he could get out more than the 3 walks they would give him. I absolutely loved that I could watch him on a webcam while he was in playcare. His room was not a fancy suite– they do have webcams inside the more expensive rooms.
The people that work there are great, they listened to my paranoia and special requests. I even heard one customer requesting they switch out her dog’s toys each day so he didn’t get bored. They really got to know my dog while he was there.
It is pricey, but I felt like it was really worth it to be able to trust them completely and to be able to watch our baby playing with the other dogs and having fun.

Very expensive to board unless you already have all shots up to date. Staff seem very… not friendly. Disorganized staff with online reservations and no follow through. Stay was fine, as far as I know. Won’t do group play as long as they allow aggressive breeds to mix with non aggressive breeds. Will look for cheaper alternative with next vacation. $$$
