The Salon Upstairs

I am new to town and found this gem on Unilocal!I had Tara who was amazing. It was the first haircut in a long time that I walked away very happy with. The prices are reasonable and the women working there do a really good job recommending only what you need to do to maintain your hair. This was refreshing considering I’ve found most places try to sell you more than you need. I highly recommend giving this place a try, you won’t be disappointed!

I tried this salon solely on Unilocal reviews. Misty gave me a great cut and style. She was willing to discuss options and give me her opinion on what would look best on me. It was worth the drive from NRH to Ft. Worth.

Vandy is THE BEST!!! I don’t trust anyone else’s scissors on my hair. Every time I go in looking busted, I come out looking fabulous. All thanks to Vandy!

I had a great experience trying out The Salon Upstairs. The only confusing thing is the name since the salon is not ACTUALLY upstairs;) My stylist was Tara, and like the rest of the stylists there she has years of experience. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but it is located in between downtown and Magnolia area. The building is an old yet beautifully refurbished brick. When you walk in, the salon is spacious with colorful chandeliers, velvet chaise lounges, concrete floors and each station is decorated differently to suit the stylists personality. I was greeted the second I walked in and Tara handed me a coffee while she whipped up my color. She worked efficiently and made sure not to miss a spot, while chatting me up and getting to know me better. Once my hair was washed, conditioned, glossed and blow dried, I saw the finished product. Finally– someone who looks at the picture I show her and puts that exact color on my hair! The color was flawless and exactly what I wanted. I can’t wait to go back again now that I have found a stylist I like! Also, the price is extremely reasonable!

I’ve been seeing Taylor for over 3 years now and can confidently say that I wouldn’t dare let another stylist come near my hair now that I have her! When I first saw her she was able to make the awkward growing phase of my swing bob quick, painless, and absolutely fluid. She has always been able to provide me with the best color, whether i go for a opt for conservative look or want to play with edgier color panels, ombré, highlights, etc. Fast forward to today & my hair is now almost halfway down my back feeling and looking amazing! People always ask if its extensions but I just gotta tell them no, give credit to my girl and hand them Taylor’s card.

I’m the girl that gets her hair cut once, maybe twice a year — but when I do, Misty is THE lady I go to. She’s magical. Sometimes I want to go just so she can wash my hair and massage my head. Though I haven’t received haircuts from the other stylists, they all seem amazing, and always willing to offer a glass of wine!

I want my hair longer but it was in the awkward phase before it gets there yet I had a wedding to be at in a week. I couldn’t chance a cheap place mucking my hair up (as is wont to happen), but I’m still thrifty. After calling multiple well-​reviewed salons in Ft Worth, The Salon Upstairs had the best price so I gave them a try.
Cutting to the chase, Rick did a great job. I told him I what I wanted to do when my hair got long enough so please just make me look «not awkward» while not impeding my hair-​growing progress. It worked! My wife actually said I looked stylish (I never look stylish). I’m so pleased that I’ll keep going back despite being a cheapskate.

Just moved here and needed a trim by someone real, unpretentious, and knew how to give a good haircut. After reading the reviews for salons near Camp Bowie (and was unimpressed), headed to Southside for Salon Upstairs.
Vandy was great. Down to earth and friendly. I was in and out in 30 mins. during my lunch hour with a great haircut. If we’re still here in TX, would go back in a heartbeat. Plus, can’t beat the price — $ 45 + tip.

I love changing my hair color and cut and doing funky things with it. I love my hair EVERYTIME Vandy gets done with it. I wish I had her to do my hair everyday. Not to mention, she is a cool ass chick.

I have been a loyal client of Vandy the owner and chief stylist for the past 6 years. In the past, I had experienced hairstyles and color that made me cry… but, I have never been disappointed and always left feeling beautiful with a smile on my face from Vandy… I personally think that she is a hair genius. Vandy has the vision, artistic style and talent that enables her to just look at you and cut your hair to bring out your best features. I highly recommend the salon for women, men and children. It is located in a great area of fort worth… after getting your hair done you can walk to a great restaurant and show it off.
