Focus Optometry

Last year I had came here to get a prescription for my Kate Spade sunglasses. This place is really inexpensive. For my first year here so far, I’ve gotten an eye exam and have tested out a few contacts since I’ve been wanting some for a while now. The owner or the practice is really really sweet and kind. Everyone that works there is really friendly and helpful. They are patient and take the time to help you. They allow you to look and try on different glasses to meet your needs. Melanie is really nice when giving eye exams and check ups. She is very interactive and makes the experience more comfortable. I highly recommend this place for those needing an eye doctor.

I came here on the recommendation from another friend. My experience with Yanan and Dr. Melanie was great! They are very knowledgeable and understanding (I actually missed my first appointment due to jetlag, but they managed to fit me in at another time before the winter holidays). Yanan is always very cheerful and is a lot of fun to talk to!
I did see a negative review about a customer waiting– in general, the staff will assist customers who came in on a first come first serve basis. I’ve had to wait a couple minutes, but I believe that this is completely understandable if the staff are in the middle of finishing up with another customer or placing orders, processing papers, etc.
In any case, my experience has not been less than stellar, and I will continue coming back here.

I initially liked this office because Dr Feliciano was great and very knowledgable. However, I had a very negative customer service experience when returning to pick up my contact lenses. I came in with the intention of purchasing lenses and frames. When I asked the optometry assistant, Yanan, for assistance she told me to wait because she was drafting an email for another patient. She then turned her back and left me standing there… Waiting… And waiting… And waiting some more. After a couple of minutes I decided to walk out and take my business elsewhere. Having worked in the optometry industry, I was taken back by how rude this employee was. Customer service, specifically attending to customers in your office that are ready to make a purchase, should be a top priority. As I said, Dr Feliciano is great, however I will not be returning to this office. Sincerely, a lost customer.

I’ve been coming here since they opened and I can’t express how well I’ve been treated. So much so that my wife and 3 boys now get their annual eye exams here as well.
They staff is always helpful and accommodating. Dr Feliciano is awesome!
I love the eyewear selection and also purchased some sunglasses too.
Location is great with plenty of parking.
I’d definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

My glasses broke and I visited Focus Optometry. Luckily they fixed them on the spot. I was so happy with the service that I bought a new pair of glasses from them. The eyeware selection is cool and service is really fantastic. What’s odd is I’ve eaten lunch next door many times and never noticed their shop. I highly recommend going here as you will find the staff is really helpful, the price was reasonable, selection is great and the location makes it super convenient.

This is my first review on Unilocal.I was naïve by trusting other good reviews about Focus Optometry.
In Dec 2014, I had my eye exam and took Optomap Retinal Exam recommended by them. Later I learned that this test is a substitute of eye dilation. But they did both dilation and Optomap Retinal Exam at the same time. They had me to try one pair of contact lens, which was the same kind as what I was wearing and charged for the contacts trial. I was surprised because I did not ask for a prescription of contacts since I had plenty at the moment. They sold me an expensive frame that is not suitable for Asian. My glasses kept sliding down. Later on when I did run out of contacts and then they did not approve my purchase request. They said my prescription will expire soon and recommended me to go back for another exam. It is hard to recommend this place…

Dr Feliciano sees both of my children and is very professional and thorough. Nancy is wonderful as well! Dr Feliciano is calm and easy going! She explains everything to both my children and to me. She is very thorough when establishing the plan of care for them. She treats us like family. She does her homework! She is the best!

Dr. Melanie and her staff are top notch and are my go place for the whole family. I have since moved to Southern California (for work), but will still make it a point to see Dr. Melanie when I need my eyes checked &/​or new glasses.
There is no one I trust more than Dr Melanie and her staff.

I got my contacts from Focus optometry, Even though, I was going to get the exact same contacts that I previously used, they made me try the contacts. Later, I realized that they charged an amount for trial which is approximately equal to the price of a box of contacts. I wish they have warned me in advance about that. I am very upset that I got 1 box of contacts less

We went to Arts & Wine Festival in Foster City last weekend. Focus Optometry had a booth, so we asked about Ortho-​k for my school-​age daughter. Today, we met with Dr. Feliciano for a free consultation. I have a medical background and I have a general good idea about vision care. The doctor was honest, patient, and impressive. She reconfirmed the recommendations that we received from my daughter’s optometrist. When I asked about me getting Ortho-​k, she didn’t recommend it, because of my low prescription for nearsightedness. The office has a nice atmosphere, many different pairs of glasses on display, and a friendly staff. I would recommend Focus Optometry to my family and friends.

Dr. Feliciano and her staff were wonderful. I went there for the first time as my previous doctor retired. I have to say they all took their time to answer my questions and each one spent a good amount of time from the eye pre-​screen, to the eye exam and then reviewing my lens options yesterday.
Dr. Feliciano also took time to ask me all kind of questions to ensure she captured all the background information. She even asked me to bring in my previous glasses so she can review the prescription.
I really appreciate the kindness of Dr. Feliciano, her staff.

Two weeks ago, my friend Emily told me that she knows a good place where you can find nice glasses. I really needed new glasses because my vision was such a blur, so I made an appointment with focus optometry. After entering the office, I was greeted by the staffs. Dr. Feliciano was very patient with me during the eye exam and she recommended anti-​glare coating. Well, I did not know how important the coating was, but Dr. Feliciano gave me all the information I needed. After the eye exam, doctor told me I need new glasses for driving, and two of the staffs helped me to pick my frames. I got tom fords, they are so cute and also the staffs were so nice that they even gave second and third opinions (three people looked at my top three choices. They really care if the frame look good on me). I’m now so happy with my new glasses!

I got my trial lenses about three weeks ago, and today the right side of the contacts got torn in my eye when I put it on. It was torn into pieces. I can’t describe how awful and scary it was, I couldn’t even open my eye, and it turned all red. After half an hour I finally took it out.
I paid 245 $, for the eye exam and trial. In just two and a half weeks it’s torn. I asked the lady that works there and she told me that the lenses were good a month. I know from my sister, she put it on for two months and it was good.
Today, i called them, and requested right side only contacts. He told me that its been a month, which isn’t true, and added, I need to order and pay 132 $ or so to get the new one. I went to their clinic, and requested at least if she can check my eye if there is any piece left in my eye, and the front desk told me that it will cost another 65 $ or something for doctor to check. Overall, doctor was a nice lady, but I am not happy with the service. I chose Focus Optometry because my sister suggested me and very close by. But I’ll not go again.

I was referred to Dr. Feliciano by family. My first visit to Focus Optometry was not for me – I run a group home for children with special needs in San Mateo. I brought one of the residents, a young man with an intellectual disability, behavior challenges, and uses a wheelchair, to see her for his annual eye exam and refraction for a new Rx for his lenses. He was cooperative, but I think it was because of Dr. Feliciano’s professionalism, friendliness, patience, and warmth. She made this young man feel very comfortable and she gained his trust. Her staff was also very professional and kind.
I returned for my own eye care needs recently. We had some issues with my insurance, but Dr. Feliciano was so kind to help me make it work. In the end, I got the care I needed with the excellent delivery of the service.
The office is clean, modern, and they have updated technology and equipment. Any office can have that, right? It is clearly their quality service that sets them apart from the rest. Everyone in that office wants to make sure you walk away with a positive experience. They are prompt, friendly, helpful, and very accommodating to their patients/​customers.
Focus Optometry has excellent options for frames and I received great feedback during selection. I understood my options when I was choosing frames/​lenses, and my insurance coverage because Jing explained everything to me clearly, which I truly appreciate. When it came down to forking over the payment, I felt good knowing exactly what I was getting for my money.
I highly recommend Dr. Feliciano and her staff at Focus. They are EXCELLENT!!!

I went for an exam with Dr. Feliciano and was very impressed with her knowledge and professionalism. I purchased a couple pairs of glasses and I was very happy with the entire experience. Top rate shop!

I am not sure who are writing the positive reviews or may be I just have bad luck. There seems to be a lot of confusion and unprofessionism in the operations here. This is the 2^nd time I come for redo on my glasses with a fairly simple prescription and they couldn’t even find my record. 2 years ago, I had to redo my glasses as well.

I love this place. It is my go to place for glasses and contacts. The people there are so friendly and helpful. It’s not just a job for them they truly care. I rember when I first went there for my glasses and I told them I was gonna get married and all kinds of stuff about me. Well, time passed since I got my glasse and I hadn’t been there in a while. When I came back they remembered my name, my story and everything. I really like the atmosphere there.

For a guy that’s been down in his luck lately, the staff at focus optometry has restored my faith in humanity. I have a very important interview with a dream job tomorrow and without a doubt I have been struck with a pair of broken glasses and no contacts. If you thought this predicament was bad, at the point of purchasing two boxes of contacts I realized my wallet was missing. I retraced my steps and couldn’t find it anywhere. On calling focus optometry back, they suggested in giving me a pair of trial pairs so I wouldn’t look like an idiot when being interviewed tomorrow with on side of my glasses broken in half.
Even though, yeah, the pair they gave me might be the free ones they give out to patients to try out, but the principle of the story is that they cared enough to give a pair to someone that needed help in a situation whom had no other options. This is customer service at its finest and definitely they have a life long customer as long I live here in the Bay Area.

I didn’t go here for my exam, but randomly came in to just take a look at what kind of frames they had. I’m pretty picky about frames.
The woman working the front was very nice and helpful. Me and the BF were both looking for glasses, so I felt a little bad that she had to keep going back and forth to different displays to show us frames. This isn’t one of the offices where you can try on frames on your own. They are locked in glass cases and the only opening is behind the counter, so you do need assistance.
They had such a great selection of frames! They had Kate Spade, Gucci, Prada, Tory Burch, Burberry, Tom Ford, RayBan, and so much more! They also had Penguin, which I am not familiar with, but the BF was. They had a nice variety of frames per brand, as well! I was in Frame Heaven! The woman also mentioned they had a brand that was primarily for Asians because of our nose :)
