Excellent service and quick response. Norm was very courteous and honest. He was very honest about what he is and is not able to do and referred us to someone who can do the job. Even though Norm is not able to fix our problem for this job, we would definitely try to hire him for other jobs in the future.

We had been looking for a handyman to help us with many little jobs and repairs around our office space in downtown San Mateo. I had contacted several «handymen» and most didn’t respond. I finally found someone who gave us an estimate, but he never showed after many reschedules to do the work. A good handyman is hard to find!
Norm returned my call right away. He was happy to come and give estimates for all the jobs at not cost to me. Initially I felt his rates were a little high, but like most things in life… you get what you pay for! He did a great job on all the tasks and was happy to work with us on ideas and limitations. The work that was done was top-​notch, using high quality supplies. And overall the cost of his work was a deal for the value of the repairs he did.
I can highly recommend Norm with no hesitation. Im am very grateful we have found him and he will now be our go to guy. Thank you Dale!

At first I was encouraged by his fast response to my initial email. He seemed eager to help with my small job. He asked for, and I sent pictures of the project. After that, I heard NOTHING! It has been more than a week. I am a results-​oriented guy; so no results. If I could I would give Norm zero stars.
UPDATE: Norm subsequently contacted me with his excuse for not getting back to me. It was a reasonable excuse, but none the less, a little late to satisfy my requirement. But like they say, «Stuff happens».

After reviewing our inspection report and drafting a list of items that require priority, my husband and I figured a contractor was who we needed to get the job done. After 2 months of communications/​visits from various contractors, we learned that the lack of response & non-​commitment was due to the scope of our work — too small. After speaking with family & friends about our experience, only then did it dawn on us the concept of a «handyman.»
We found Norm on Unilocal and after reading all his positive reviews and meeting him in person, we’re happy to say that the reviews are accurate! He worked on the following items:
1. Removed Old Cable Lines & Satellite Dish on 2 Story Home
2. Replaced/​Patched-​Up & Painted Wood Siding w/​Dry Rot
3. Touched up Roof’s Wood Shingles
4. Repaired Fence Door
No job was too small. The qualities he has that’s crucial when entrusting your home to others is he’s trustworthy, reasonable, professional, prompt, quick, efficient and very clean/​meticulous with his work. We are glad to have Norm in town. He will definitely be our go to for any home repair needs. Thank you Norm for all your hard work today. We truly appreciate it!

Wow, I almost forgot to write a review for Norm! After reading his great reviews on the Internet, I had him come out to my house in early 2015 to replace three precariously high-​hung wall sconces over my stairwell. There was no way I could access them and figured a professional was the only way to go. And, I am so glad I found Norm. Not only were the sconces very difficult to reach, but the instructions for them were non-​existent. Literally, there were none, and these were not normal sconces. After using his past experiences and knowledge, he was able to determine the correct way to mount them and did so perfectly. On top of that, Norm is an incredibly friendly person. He is my go-​to now for any handyman jobs I need in the future and I couldn’t recommend him any more highly.

I ended up not using Norm since he left me hanging for 5 days over what day and time he was coming to my house. He gave me some excuse that his message to me didn’t leave his outbox, but maybe a clue that I didn’t get it was my 3 messages, both by email and phone. No thanks, Norm

Norm came over today to hang a few art pieces into concrete and also to hang a heavy mirror into drywall.
He was fast, efficient, rechecked my measurements, clean (put down a drop cloth to catch the drilled out material), and courteous. Within 45 minutes the job was all done & everything looked great. Thanks, Norm!

Norm is a terrific handyman. What started out as a simple project to fix our screen door handle soon ballooned… he fixed a furnace door, rearranged ceiling fixtures in my daughter’s room, and even helped to install 4 paintings for me – which is NO easy task. He’s a got a great work ethic and is super considerate and punctual. I’m sure we’ll be hiring him again and referring him, too. (Oh, and I did I mention he customized a desk for us, too? Great work all around and very detail-​oriented!)

He did a fantastic job fixing a huge hole on our ceiling and making it look great. he is also a really nice person, a really clean worker, and he took time to explain what he was going to do and how. he referred me to someone else for another job and I appreciated that he would only commit to doing what he was sure he could do.
it took a couple phone calls for him to call me back but I am really glad I didn’t just try someone else. I will definitely call him again when needed.

Let’s see, Norm has remodeled two bathrooms, fixed a sprinkler issue, fixed a kitchen issue we had, installed a basketball hoop above our garage, and is now scheduled to paint my daughter’s bedroom. Needless to say, WE LOVE NORM! And so will you.

Norm is such a pleasure to work with. He knows what hes doing. He is considerate and prompt. I had a bookshelf my dad made me that was stability based and the ceiling is too high. He built the perfect base. Matched the wood stain exactly and i am soooooo pleased.
Called him about another issue that he doesn’t specialize in and he sent me to a great electrician, Tauscho (650) 307‑4085. He can help u with all your electric needs! He is also polite and smart and we will call him from here on out for our electric needs!

Norm took the time during a hectic time to hang a very large mirror over the fireplace. He took the extra time to ask about the mirrors direction. He ensured the mirror was slightly facing down so it would best fit the room. He also fixed a very old auto curtain rod with draw string. This is after I tried fixing the curtains myself.

We were in need of a in floor heater cleaning and window repair and our landlord sent over Norm. I gotta say he went above and beyond and left that floor heater in the best condition I’ve ever seen it. It used to leave a burning smell because it hadn’t been used in a while. Not only did he vacuum it from floor level but he even went under the house and removed the «dust pan» to get a even better cleaning. Our window had come off its «rails» and I didn’t have any idea how to put it back but in a matter of minutes Norm had them good to go. I highly recommend Norm for your handyman needs.

I contacted Norm about fixing a really heavy solid core wooden door that was pretty badly damaged from an accident. Several broken areas, misalignment, lock not closing properly. The other factor for me was to get this repaired very quickly because of safety reasons. I have to say that he did an amazing job, including fixing gaping holes in the door that I was very worried about. He got the door aligned properly, re-​installed a pretty difficult spring-​loaded hinge that was a quite a daunting task given a rather intractable adjustment lever; and at the end, I couldn’t even tell the broken condition it was in, prior to Norm working on this.
I am very satisfied and will gladly have Norm come and do other fix-​its in my house and highly recommend him for his thoroughness and professionalism.

Norm is the man I have always dreamed of… tall, handsome, funny, drives a cool truck and can fix ANYTHING! But seriously, Norm is a fantastic handyman. I have used his services 3 times and have been super happy with the work ever time. I make a list, and buy the things I need. He would be happy to pick items up for you if arranged ahead of time. Norm arrives on time and takes control of the «to do» list. Norm has installed slider doors, replaced caulking in the shower, installed a shower head, kitchen faucet, 2 rheostat switches, hung curtain rods, blinds, and replaced an over the range microwave. No job is too small, he hung a plant hook and replaced all the batteries in the smoke detectors. Norm even agreed to my request to hang a 5′ x 7′ wool rug on my wall. He skillfully crafted a frame, measured and remeasured then attached the rug to the living room wall. It looks beautiful :-)
Norm is friendly, professional, works efficiently and is respectful of my home. If you have a list of things — no matter how random — give Norm a call. His rates are more than fair for the high quality of work.
