Camelot Books

Full of books! I walked in and instantly fell in love. I went looking for Anne Rule’s book since I’m a huge fan. I found a few books for the cheapest price ever. They are all used but doesn’t bother me at all. A book is a book. I took my niece with me and she was excited for the kids section. This bookstore has gained a regular. I would be back for me. Lol

Called the store and a woman picked up and said «hello» then when I asked if they sold textbooks she said «we don’t, sorry» and hung up. Rude.

This place has tons of books everywhere!
Pros: great books for a good price and lots of variety. The lady running the place is nice and very helpful if you know what you’re looking for.
Cons: stuffy, dark, and cluttered

Just stopped in during my lunch break to pick up a few books I had been looking for. Super nice lady working there and very helpful. It looks like they’re reorganizing a bunch of stuff, but everything was still easy to find. Will definitely be coming back often to fill up a couple of new shelves!

Got a few books was looking for, unfortunately still no rpg’s but friendly staff.

Dale was very helpful and a pleasure to trade in my old books (Stephen King, Anne Rice) for new (to me) ones. Wow, they have a ton of books. The excitement of checking inventory is akin to the experience prior to the internet. Go to the old brick and mortar and see what’s in stock.
I grabbed some cool books that I might have been able to get on the internet as easily, but the experience of going in and finding treasures was half of the fun.
This place is cool.

Each book is on average $ 5, they do take card. Place has an old school library vibe with shelves overflowing with books and stacks lying everywhere. Almost all are used which is why you come here. It’s a great feeling coming in and finding a specific book you’re looking for, like finding a needle in a pretty damn organized haystack.
Left of the store has classics you would read in high school english class (huckleberry finn, lord of the flies, etc.) and miscellaneous books on subjects like sports/​geography/​history.
Middle you have a section for hardcovers, handful of modern fiction work.
Right side has the fiction, mystery, romance, and scifi/​fantasy genres.

Great place but she needs to hire help. The owner is very nice but very overwhelmed. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money.

This is a really cool bookstore. They have used, new and rare books on sale. If you like your bookstore meticulously organized then this place isn’t for you though. If however you have a good hour to spend you can wander around the maze of books and have a good look, you’ll find some gems in there. The book prices are reasonably cheap (I got two non-​fiction books for $ 6 each). The staff were fairly friendly and the location and parking is very accessible.

Great place for book lovers like me. It is very valuable to have an independent bookstore in the neighborhood where you can find a really wide selection of books. The service is very good.

If you love used books, then you’ll love this place. There’s books on shelves, books on the floor, books everywhere. If you want a book right away, or are just browsing, I would recommend this store. Some titles seem to be priced too high for being a used book, so if you can wait, Amazon would probably be a better choice. That being said, this is probably one of my favorite bookstores in Orange County.

This is quite possibly the most comprehensive used book store ever in Orange County and so few remain.
The owners are so friendly. They do accept donations and they will give you some store credit depending on their judgment.
I love this store because it has such valuable religious and Christian books, rare, old, and vintage bibles, as well as manuals, reference books, and even Christian fiction if you’re interested. All books are in good or great condition. They are particularly picky about bibles not being written in or inscribed in the covers which I like.
This place is incredibly fun and there’s just so much to see and read!
If you’re a purveyor of truly rare and valuable books, the kind in which you must wear white gloves and use a special case for their storage, ask to see them here too. They are very very pricey. But their books of these high antiquity will demand an equally high price. But for the serious buyer, this is a shop with some excellent expertise in truly rare books and their estimation. Have fun!

It feels so real and humane in this bookstore. There are shelves and shelves of books, to make any book lover grin from ear to ear. I traded some of my books for store credit. Dale, the owner, was in today and she looked at my books. I browsed around the large store in the meantime. The books are categorized by topic so it wasn’t hard to find what I was looking for. I like the Spirituality section, which is extensive from Eastern to Western religions. And I got an autobiography by Asian-​American writer, Amy Tan. I am glad I got to trade my books in because it makes me feel good that someone may be looking for it and get it at less than full price, and I got to get new reading material! Plus, this store is local and I bought high school reading books here over 20 years ago to save money.

My dad discovered Camelot Books in the Yellow Pages and took me here when I was pretty young, maybe when I was about 14 or 15 (yeah, that was a LONG time ago). I needed a couple books for required reading for my high school English class and he decided it’d be a smart idea to purchase used books instead of shelling out the money for new copies, especially if I was going to mark it up with notes.
And so began my beautiful relationship with Camelot.
Books are cheap, not «friends of the library book sale» cheap, but pretty freaking cheap. Before they changed ownership (which I just learned), the place had a chaotic charm to the disorganization. I mean, we’re talking books stacked on floors and still in boxes, yet none of that bothered me. That’s part of the experience of going into a used bookstore like Camelot – you spend hours on end searching for that one (or five) book (s) that will be coming home with you.
The change of ownership is evident, but it didn’t turn me off; I see it as an improvement. They’re working to clear the floors, they’ve moved the fiction section to the other side of the store and are organizing more by author (as well as alphabetical order), and there are still chairs/​stools that you can still utilize to grab a book on the top shelf. They also now have a very cute kids’ books section complete with a little reading table, chairs and stuffed animals. True, the shop owners don’t talk to you unless you ask them a question, but so what? A bookstore is a sacred space for me. There are so many worlds in so many books that are waiting to be discovered!
Oh Camelot, I’ve been coming to you for 15 years now, and I hope to keep coming back for an additional 15. Support your local indie/​used book store!

Camelot Books recently changed ownership. I met the new owner while looking for the coveted «Who is» book series with my daughter. There are stacks of books everywhere, and while part of me wished they were lined up in perfect order, I couldn’t help but feel comforted by the disorganization. You could really find anything there, it was a wonderful adventure for us that afternoon. If you are looking to get some coffee and wonder around a bookstore, Camelot Books is the place to do it. The prices are not out of this world, they are about 50%-70% off the original retail price.

This place is in the middle of a transition, but I found the service (or relative lack thereof) and the clutter to my disliking.
Piles of books everywhere, with shelves halfway or all the way empty. Wasn’t even really greeted when I walked in. Books are really cheap, if they have them. However, you get what you pay for. Some have writing in them, others are torn, etc. Not really too much of an issue for most books though.
They also have a trade-​in service where if you have certain books they’re looking for, you can get store credit to use towards other books.
Service was sparse and not really friendly, and it was pretty messy. Maybe I’ll come back to give it another shot after they finish… renovating? Moving? Not too sure exactly.

It’s bigger on the inside!
Camelot looks like nothing too special from the outside, but inside it is packed with tons of cheap books spilling out of their towering shelves and piling up on the floor.
Their mass market paperbacks are very cheap, most of them ranging from $ 1-​$ 3. The other side of the store has the bigger, newer books that cost around $ 4-​$ 6. They also have a children’s books section with many sets of popular series, if you’re into that. They have a great selection, and the woman (possibly owner?) at the register is very helpful and knowledgeable about their stock.
Camelot is one of those used bookstores that you just can’t leave empty-​handed.
