Chi H Bui, DMD MS

First off, Dr. Bui is the type of doctor that truly has the patient’s best interest in mind. Dr. Bui explained what my options were and the cost and time involved with each option right from the start. She said that she didn’t want there to be any surprises, and there weren’t. Plus, we always dealt directly with Dr. Bui and not a rotating staff of on-​call doctors. It’s so rare to get such personal attention nowadays. Right?!! Finally, her staff is so friendly and easy to deal with. Making appointments, making changes, and all that is so easy. Thanks, Dr. Bui, for everything!

I waited until I was almost done with my braces before posting a comprehensive review. I’m about 3 weeks away from the end of my treatment and below are my thoughts:
OFFICE
The office of Dr. Bui is very cute, clean, and updated. She uses the latest technology, including the panoramic X-​ray which is much better than having to bite down on those painful and annoying squares for each section of your mouth. She has a private consultation room and 3 chairs for her patients. Her receptionist/​assistant Quynh is wonderful! Extremely helpful and always a smile on her face.
CONSULTATION
My initial consultation with Dr. Bui was pretty comprehensive. She explained the different types of orthodontic procedures that she does. She’s honest and straight forward and she’ll give you her professional opinion but always makes sure she listens to your wants and needs. With such a saturated dental/​orthodontal industry in OC, one of the reasons I went with Dr. Bui is because she’s one of the few that provides lingual braces. She has a private consultation room so anything you discuss with her is confidential.
TREATMENT
My treatment was a little under 2 years. I had lingual (Incognito) braces on my upper teeth and regular braces on my lower teeth. I loved that Dr. Bui is very flexible. It was her idea to have me do partial lingual braces so it was more cost effective. I look pretty young and I didn’t want to have my braces visible and look even younger. Her advice helped me save money but also avoid looking like a teenager. Dr. Bui is very thorough and makes sure she addresses every issue you have during each step of your treatment. About ¾ through my treatment, I had decided I didn’t want to change my overbite and Dr. Bui was flexible in changing my treatment and making sure I was completely satisfied with the outcome.
SUMMARY
Overall, I definitely would recommend Dr. Bui to those who are looking for a more comprehensive line of orthodontic treatment. She seems to be very involved in keeping up with newer treatments and technology and her office and staff are accommodating. Come in for a consultation and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Older patients, like me, need to have really excellent orthodontic work that does not move one’s teeth too fast or aggressively. Dr. Bui is compassionate, skilled, and really knows her stuff when it comes to what is perfect for your mouth and a beautiful smile. Thanks so much, Chi, for being so kind, knowledgeable, and patient with an old mouth!

Dr. Bui is a phenomenal orthodontist and is extremely adept at what she does. What makes her truly stand out is the genuine care and dedication she has for every single one of her patients. Dr. Bui not only makes beautiful smiles; she connects on a personal level and has quintessentially watched me grow up from preteen to young adult. Due to her excellent work, I now can proudly smile and be confident as I graduate high school this year.

Dr. Bui is very nice and gentle. I was so scared of having braces at first when most of my friend told me about the pain and discomfort they got while wearing braces. However, I have a different experience at Dr Bui’s place. After couple appointments, I still feel good and the pain is bearable, it doesn’t hurt very much as I thought. The office is clean and Dr. Bui’s assistants are kind and friendly too. Highly recommend!!!

I love it here ! Dr Bui is very gentle and knows what she’s doing. I’ve been going here for about 3 years and I would highly recommend this orthodontist. They’re all very friendly and care about you! Definitely a place that I don’t dread going too.

It has been over three years since I received the sterling service from my orthodontist, Dr. Chi Bui. Because she has such a kind and gentle demeanor, my 18-​month experience was most pleasant. Even though tightening one’s braces can be painful, I always looked forward to my visits with her.
As an adult, the experience of having braces can be awkward, but Dr. Bui always made me feel comfortable. I recently stopped in for a visit, and she was as gracious as ever! I would recommend her highly to children and adults alike.

Dr. Bui helped me for the last two years raise my confidence enough to get married to the woman of my dreams. Without her practice I wouldn’t have ever felt comfortable with smiling, but I do and it feels great.

Dr. Bui is great! She’s super welcoming, knowledgeable and takes great pride in her work. She’s been my orthodontist for a few years now and her office is just as clean as it was on my first visit. She’s well educated (Harvard dental school!) and even teaches at USC for fun.
If you didn’t read any of that, just know that Dr. Bui is a top knotch orthodontist and I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else.

I moved to California from Missouri 3 years ago and was looking for an orthodontist to replace my retainers from my teens that finally broke. Dr. Bui was very knowledgeable about the different kinds of retainers on the market and how they could benefit my particular needs. She went above and beyond to create a set of retainers that are perfect for me.
I also love that she has a lot of knowledge about current medical studies happening not only in her specialty of orthodontics but other areas of the dental industry. It’s nice to be able to ask questions that pertain to other areas of dentistry and get a knowledgeable answer.
Her staff is very friendly and flexible with scheduling times. Highly recommend this practice and Dr. Bui!

I have been going to Dr. Bui for about 9 months now, to correct an issue that my normal dentist could not. Before I came to dr. Bui there was quite a lot wrong with my teeth & bite etc. However, in 9 months she was able to correct these problems, as well as create the necessary space that my dentist needed in order to complete a procedure. After these 9 months, I have to say that she is very good and efficient at what she does. I have had braces multiple times throughout my life and what I do like about her practice is that she basically does everything by herself. There is no «assembly line» process where different assistants will do different things and the orthodontist just comes by and provides a final check. Dr. Bui does it all herself, brackets, rubber bands, wires, etc… she does it all. Her practice is located in an area with ample parking. The office is smaller than most practices, but the staff is excellent and very personable. In all, Dr. Bui is a great orthodontist and is very good at what she does. I would not hesitate to recommend her to any family or friends that are in need of orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Bui and her entire staff are wonderful! Everyone is professional, courteous, welcoming and warm. We never have to wait and can always be accommodated when we need a last minute issue addressed. I could not recommend Dr. Bui more!

Dr. Bui has been fantastic.
I’ve been taking my teen daughter to her for over a year now. Not only has she done an excellent job with my daughter’s teeth (including fixing poor work from another ortho), every visit has shown her to be one of the nicest and friendliest professionals I’ve ever known.
From the beginning Dr. Bui has been willing to work with us in a way that enabled us to afford the care my daughter needed (we don’t have insurance). We had tried a couple other orthodontists that advertised free consultations, but they ended up being like sitting at a car salesman’s desk. With Dr. Bui, we were given the options, costs, and recommendations without being pushed into something we couldn’t afford.
The experience we’ve had with Dr. Bui has been stellar in every way. Her genuine friendliness has been so consistent that I tend to wonder whether the negative reviewers have ever been to her office at all. The size of the office is more than adequate and has been immaculate and welcoming every time we’ve come.
I’m sure there are other good orthodontists out there. But I can’t imagine any of them offering a more pleasant overall experience.

Very friendly, helpful and professional. Soooo glad we found Dr. Bui! She is the only orthodontist we trust. And best of all, my 10 year old daughter was very comfortable with Dr. Bui’s work and was never apprehensive about her visits. My nieces share our sentiment as well.

There is something about Dr. Bui that is truly indescribable, and I highly recommend her. I have been her patient for over 2 years and she has truly transformed my smile. She worked me with me every step of the way and was very diligent in finding the best techniques for my case. I truly felt like Dr. Bui was part of my family for the amount of energy she spent with me. However, I could see that she was like this with all her patients. If you are looking for an orthodontics that strives on perfection than look no further. Dr. Bui is one of a kind and would not accept anything less than perfect as I walked out of each appointment. Which makes her worth every single penny. There is nothing fun about being in your 20’s and having braces, but she made each appointment very enjoyable.
Lastly, I truly believe that if you love your job you never have to work a day in your life. Dr. Bui is that person who LOVES her job. Which was my gut feeling from the moment that I met her, and knew that she would be able to give me that perfect smile! Thank you so much Dr. Bui & Staff for giving me the perfect smile just in time for my wedding!!!

Dr. Bui has among the most impressive credentials of any orthodontist in OC. I haven’t met another dentist with a DDS from Harvard, she is also involved in teaching and does at cutting-​edge research.

After reading some good reviews about her on Unilocal,I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Bui. I came there for a free consultation and felt like I wasn’t welcomed at all. Dr. Chi Bui gave me such a bad altitude. She was mean, extremely rude and disrespectful. I was really shocked at so many things she had said to me during the consultation.
I’ve been to several orthodontists in OC for consultation before I came to her, and she was the WORST! The way she treated me was unacceptable not only as a customer but also as a person. She said so many mean things that even if I tell you, you still not gonna believe it. One of the thing that shocked me the most is when she said «You’re still young ’cause I know you’re only 24, but by just looking at your face I thought you’re a 60 year old woman with no teeth showing at all». Can you believe that?! She might be a good orthodontist yet her personality is just so ugly. I just can’t even imagine how she treats others, especially kids.
Her office is very small, old and not as clean as other places. Her staff is unprofessional and not helpful (It seemed to me that she just hired some high school students to work for her). I trusted the good reviews on Unilocal that’s why I came to see her. (I’m not sure if they got paid for giving her all the good reviews tho.) Unfortunately my experience with her was horrible. She also refused to quote me but tried to get me pay for the Xray for $ 350 while I haven’t decided to whether get braces at her place or not?! It just showed me that all she cares is money.
Dr. Bui is NOT RECOMMENDED at all. Anyway, my recommendation is that go to as many orthodontists as you can for consultation before deciding to settle with the best one. Consultation is free so don’t hesitate. You also should take in consideration that some orthodontists might be good at what they’re doing, but make sure you get along with them well because you will have to spend a lot of time with them for the next 2, 3 years.

Finally finished Invisalign with Dr. Bui! She is the best! I’ve gotten so many compliments about my smile! So glad I went to her. She was very involved through the entire process. Unlike most places where assistants do most of the work, Dr. Bui actually is the one working on you during each and every one of your appointment. She is super knowledgeable and definitely knows how to create a beautiful smile. After I had my attachments removed, Dr. Bui took the time to not only polish my teeth but also offered to shave the edges so that both sides are symmetric. She is so detailed! I highly recommend her. You won’t be disappointed!

Best ortho in the business. My martial arts school was in the same plaza and I decided to give it a try. My teeth were pretty bad but went in for a consultation and was told I could do invisiline. It’s great for someone who owns a business and did not want to have to wear braces. Every session was great and by the end I was very happy with the results. She was very friendly every time and I regret not doing it sooner. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Chi Bui is really the best Orthodontist around the area.

Before Dr. Bui, i went to almost all orthodontists around the westminster/​fountain valley/​garden grove area. I did not like any of them. I must say i’m a pretty difficult patient. I actually had an argument with one of the orthodontist during my initial consultation just because that person was unprofessional and didn’t take his time to explain to me in details about his treatment plans and the rationale behind every step of the treatment.
My first impression with Dr. Bui was a positive one. She took the time to explain to me what my problem areas of my teeth were and how she would go about fixing them. Her referrals were also top notch since i did have to get oral surgery to remove an impacted canine. Her mother was also an amazing dentist. She removed my teeth without any gum tissue damage or inflammation. Thus this helped my gum heal super quickly without any sign of swollen.
The materials that Dr. Bui uses is also of great quality. The first time when she put on the braces, i could already tell my teeth were moving super fast due to the heat-​activating wire that Dr. Bui used. Furthermore, she knows exactly how to bend the wire so that the right forces were put on the teeth and make them move accordingly.
All the other places i went, they all said my teeth would take at least 2 years to be straighten out. But with Dr. Bui, i only have to wear braces for 1 year and 2 months. I could not believe how fast it was. Every time i went in for adjustments, i also felt comfortable and better when i left. She is very nice and personable. She is also so knowledgeable about almost everything and i loved listening to her stories she shared to her patients.

She also allowed Saturday appointment since i go to school in Sacramento and would not be able to go down on the week day for adjustment. Let’s just say i would drive down 400 miles back and forth just to have a great Ortho working on my teeth every month. If this does not show how amazing Dr. Bui is, i really don’t know what will. To me, Health is the most important thing in life that no amount of time or money can buy (looked what happened to the late Steve Jobs, who is no longer with us). Anyhow.
Dr. Bui cares for each patient and always caters to their different needs. Her office is always clean. Her staff are friendly and helpful. She also offered a variety of teeth straightening method from traditional braces to invisalign and incognito (braces behind your teeth). She also offered all these free ice cream social events for her younger patients almost every month.
I am so glad that i found Dr. Bui. Not only Dr. Bui has the credentials for her amazing skills in the art of dentistry, she also has the care and compassion toward her patients that set her apart from other healthcare professionals. I love her
