Jenny’s Fabrics

I went to Joann’s looking for fabric for Halloween costumes. The cheapest fabric I could find was muslin for 1.99. I was desperate and was about to purchase it but my sister-​in-​law suggested we check out Jenny’s first. It was a great decision! We found better quality fabric for only 1.99 (sorry, I don’t remember the type of fabric I purchased) and their selection of colors was abundant. The selection of fabric here is wonderful and you are bound to find just what you are looking for; the prices are just as great. I even found material to make a belt and boots for my costume. Although coupons are not offered here (such as at Joann’s) I will come here for all of my fabric needs.

To all the negative comments: Leave your snobby attitude at the door because you aren’t any better than the people who work here. I have been coming here for years and I LOVE this place. The women are so helpful, they have every kind of fabric you could want, and the «folds» in the back of store? If you find something you want, either use your God-​given muscles and stop expecting everyone to do everything for you or ask for help. Don’t you know that things worth having are worth working for? I stop in every month just to see what’s new and am never disappointed. I find fantastic bargains in the «fold» area and I don’t have a problem getting my fabric out and I“m 60 years old and weigh about 125 lbs, so believe me, it’s not that difficult. Cute patterns, great trims, tons of fleece and more than enough cotton prints to last you the rest of your life. Too bad I don’t have an extra room to store fabric!

Let’s start by saying I can’t sew. I usually buy fabric to make running costumes. This place has anything and everything I need for all my running costume needs. I know this is weird but I couldn’t be happier. I usually need specific colored fabrics, strange prints, or exact textures to make something work perfectly. This place is a one stop shop.

This place has a large variety of fabrics and the prices are okay.
My complaint is that the employees are either lazy or very poorly trained.
As I was looking through the store, a worker was dragging large items down the walkways which got caught on my shoe and cut the back of my foot.
No one apologized and when I told the woman that rang me up, she gave me a blank stare.
Wow, I am baffled by the amazing customer service.
Go to M & L Fabrics instead, the customer service is better and prices are lower too.

Love the variety and quality of fabrics. I am a quilter, and some of the stuff at Joanns is cheap junk. Jenny’s Fabrics has the flat fold/​cheap fabric all in the back, so you know what you are getting. They always have the latest Hoffman fabrics, and plenty of batiks – I love batiks! Employees were helpful and friendly. The layout of the store is well organized, I don’t have to guess where to find solids.

As an avid quilter, I know, this place really has an awesome variety of fabrics at low cost per yard although the specialty fabrics can be spendy. No more Joann’s! Very impressed.

Well let me start with saying, jennys is the closest to me, but I do hit Joann’s, and do make the trip to LA from time to time. I have become friends with a few of the worker bees there, Rose always willing to help, but my favorite Julie is no longer there, she was the best, knowing where certain prints were to helping me match prints, giving me positive feed back and wishing me well with my projects, I will miss her sooo much, if I ever open a fabric store she would be the one I would want to run it. Jennys will not be the same for me.

I came in here with my infant Carrier car seat since my baby fell asleep on my way here. One employee acted so rude and put out when I said excuse me kindly to get around her. I mean I’m not carrying the lightest thing ever (30plus pounds). Common sense people. I asked for help and one of the employees in here was so rude! She was putting fabric back on the shelf and was clearly irritated I needed help. Wouldn’t make eye contact until I asked are you free to help or busy? On the other hand, I have experienced two very nice women. One younger girl is helping duo everytime I go in there.
They don’t have a huge selection of serger thread.

Decent selection and prices. Helpful service. I prefer M&L fabrics because it has a larger selection and since I live closer. But I’d recommend this spot if you live in this area.

I have been buying fabric from them since the 70s! — ok. they moved to the Magnolia store years ago… same people.
They have a bit of everything. from cheap to expensive. great selection.

This is the best place for fabric! You can get so much for so cheap! The lady working there is super nice and usually cuts off extra! Very good place to get fabric! Much cheaper than Joann.

First time coming here yesterday ,
It’s pricing is a bit high but the service
Was nothing less than amazing!
Every worker is so knowledgeable

After debating going here based on some of the not-​so-​positive reviews, I decided to give it a try and get my own opinion of the store. I would say. come here but shop smart. There are some fabrics that are more expensive than Joann’s (with coupon) and there are some that are greatly less expensive. So know the prices of the things you’re looking for and what they are priced elsewhere. I found some good bargains and selection choices that I wouldn’t have found at a Joann’s, but that goes the other way as well. It’s nice not having to bring along coupons for a discount though. In the end, I’d still visit Joann’s as well as Jenny’s since there are just so few fabric stores out there period.

I honestly don’t know a whole lot about fabrics but this place really impressed me. That’s practically all there is here are fabrics. So many choices it’s like going to an AYCE Korean BBQ for fabrics. I found something I liked and paid for it. The ladies that work here are really nice too.

This is the sister store to M&L Fabrics. So if you have seen one, they are very similar.
Name a cotton print, and they have it. Organized by weaver and by theme no less. Need quilt cottons? Expect to spend at least an hour just browsing. Rates vary from $ 5 to $ 11/​yard.
Or, if thrifty, go to the back flat fold section for $ 3/​yd choices. But… expect to spend a lot of time here, since it’s not organized much at all, except by fabric type, not by print/​color. So browse and dig in the flat folds.
There is some fashion fabric. Not a lot, but enough to keep you busy. Notions too.

Such affordable fabric with such a great choice! The staff here is super helpful and i really have an easy time finding what I need. Easy parking, easy to find, easy to shop overall!

Probably one of the best fabric stores in oc. They have alot of glitz and glam fabrics which are my favorite! They also have lots of variety of trims, buttons and beading.

They have an absolutely fantastic sale section in the back, with great prices on all their remnants. I found some great colors of jersey (what I was there looking for) to make some maxi skirts and tanks with.
If it weren’t so gosh darn far from me, I’d go back for some matching serger thread (oops).
I was a bit irked at their remnant policy. When I took it up to be measured, I asked for only the ½yd that I needed. The fabric had 5/​8yd remaining, and without checking whether it was ok with me, she folded up and labeled it. Of course, it was far from worth quibbling over because it meant a difference of something like 50¢, I just took issue with her not at least disclaiming that they could only sell me the full remnant.

After visiting REI and other retail stores in search for a chalk bag (for climbing), I realized that I’d rather make my own if the thing was going to cost me upwards of the $ 30 — $ 40 range. So, I went trekking. With Michael’s and Joann’s being every where except near me, and Tall Mouse absolutely too far away, I had to try and find a place near me that sold fabric without feeling like I should have just bought the damn bag. So, I googled what was near me and found Jenny’s Fabrics.
DECO: 3 stars
As far as the deco for a fabric store can be, it’s pretty standard. The same rows of fabrics, along with interesting patterns and designs scattered throughout the store. It looked like a store meant for your grandma, and you know what, it probably is.
STAFF: 3 stars
The staff was a mix. I had two of the workers help me with my questions, because I had a lot of them. The other two, not so much. They seemed angered and frustrated that I, a fertile, young heterosexual man, would be in their fabric store asking about fabric. They were the older women. So, if you want help, ask the younger workers, especially if you are a fertile, young heterosexual man.
STOCK: 3 stars
The stock was decent, although they were lacking in certain sizes and other items I was looking for (larger tie knots and web fabric widths). Otherwise, if you’re just looking for basic items and fabrics, they’re pretty good.
PRICE: 3 stars
I honestly have no idea how they compete against the bigger name places as prices go, but they had sales on lots of items and seemed pretty confident in their competitiveness with prices.
CONCLUSION
Although I left feeling I didn’t get everything I needed, the place was nice and I didn’t get the feeling I was rushed out, although I did feel like a man out of bar. It’s a nice local sewing place, and I was glad to help a local company with their business. Just avoid the older workers if you need help. Also, I finished the chalk bag. Take a look at the pictures!
