This was one of the worst sushi experiences I’ve ever had. The sushi was obviously not fresh, so they decided to coat it in a bunch of soy sauce hoping we wouldn’t notice. Never going again and definitely would not recommend. I don’t know know how this place is rated 4 stars. I wish I could give it 0. Service was good, but sushi, unfortunately was not.

My wife and I come here all the time. If one wants great sushi– this is the place! Try the volcano rolls, they are delicious. I have gone from Sushi restaurant to sushi restaurant in search for the best salmon nigiri and this place has it. By far the best sushi for miles.

This place is a hidden gem. We were here on a Friday night– it wasn’t crowded, the service was great, the prices were fair. One of the sushi chefs talked to us the whole time and was HILARIOUS. We will 100% be back.

I’ve been to Tokyo 100+ times. Loved to go to the fishmarket in Tsukiji. I consider myself a huge fan and a expert of sorts. I just stumbled upon this place, walked in, didn’t check any reviews, and ordered something that was on the Kobe favorite list. «Black pepper tuna roll», garlic edamame and pork Ramen. The role was amazing. I am addicted to it now. Ramen was also amazing. This place rocks. I’ll be coming back here for sure

Always the best customer service. Smiley is hilarious. Awesome happy hour! I always come in for the spicy yellowtail and salmon because 7 bucks is worth the amount you get. The waitress is such a sweetheart as well. Love coming here for my lunch.

This place is a small little hole in the wall with some pretty decent prices. I was a bit sketched when they said, «50% off sushi, all day,» but I took the plunge when my friend invited me to meet her there for lunch. It’s a tiny spot off of Ward and Slater in a small strip plaza. There’s tons of parking, so no worries there. The restaurant itself is clean and simple. They have a good selection to choose from. The 50% off sushi is actually only limited to items marked with a happy face, but still a pretty good deal. Check out their specialty rolls — those are worth trying out. My friend wasn’t in the mood for sushi and had something from their ramen menu instead, but that’s good to know since you’ll have more options to choose from. Service was really good. It wasn’t crowded at all, but our server was always coming around and checking on us. I typically like AYCE sushi places because you’ll get your bang for your buck, but this is a nice enough spot to get something quick if you’re not feeling too gluttonous.

I can always rely on this spot for tasty salmon and spicy tuna. The 50% off nigiri menu is a great way to start the meal, and an easy way to save some $ for the specialty roll menu. The service is quick, and the sushi chefs are extremely personable! I come back here regularly.

Place gets better every time! We actually went in to eat this time instead of grabbing takeout. I am very impressed with their vegetarian options for a small sushi joint. Last night we had miso soup, green salad with ginger dressing and a special vegetarian roll(not on the menu) that had a crunchy yam tempura roll in the center and thinly sliced avocado on top. We will definitely be going back!

Ehhh. This place is just alright. It was roommate night. Came for a quick bite. Although we did order the«honeymoon» it’s 8 oysters, top w/Uni, masago and green onion. It was okay. But was the best dish we order. For a sushi snob. This place mediocre.

The food here was just alright. I got the combination A with the salmon teriyaki and veggie tempura. –salmon was good, rice wasn’t, and although the veggies were crispy, my brocolli was completely brown and burnt under the batter. It comes with miso soup and a salad. –miso was okay, but the salad managed to be underdressed and soggy at the same time. The happy hour only includes a handful of sushi rolls/nigiri. 50% off. Not enough to make it a big deal. If you want to drink though, the happy hour will work for you. I got the salmon skin roll. Burnt salmon skin and I didn’t bother finishing even half. The spicy salmon roll was pretty bland. The salmon nigiri was good, not bad at all. Service was nice and friendly. There wasn’t a wait during a weekday afternoon.

First time at Kobe tonight. It was recommended by my brother and sister in law. My wife and I had the Black pepper tuna and the Aloha rolls. Awesome. Props to Helen. Top notch service. We’ll be back!

Happy hours All Day, Everyday 50% off Sushi $ 1.50 Hot Sake, $ 2.50 Draft Beer Mug or $ 12 pitcher *The beer on draft is Kirin There are only a selected few on happy hour pricing. which comes out to be $ 2 for 2 pieces of nigiri… not bad. The fish they offer on happy hour are the usual ones like Tuna, Salmon, White Fish, and Yellowtail.etc. There are other cut rolls on happy hour as well, such as the Spicy Salmon or the Salmon skin. Mostly came for the cheap beer. I’ve wanted to try the green tea tempura ice cream but I never got the chance here. Pretty cheap food! My total came out to be $ 30 for 1 hand roll, 4 pieces of nigiri, 1 volcano #2 roll($ 12), 1 spicy salmon cut roll, and 2 kirins. The quality was just okay. but what do you expect?

Finally got to try this spot out — it’s within walking distance to my friend’s place. They pretty much have Happy Hour all day, but only certain sushi pieces are half off, which makes it a good deal if that’s all you want. We ordered: –Salmon Skin Hand Roll — This was really delicious! I don’t like it when I get salmon skin and they include a lot of the salmon meat. This one had mostly crunchy skin, and it was one of the best salmon skin rolls I’ve had. –Black Pepper Tuna Roll — Thanks to Unilocalers, we ordered this one. I loved it! The seared black pepper tuna on top was really delicious! The roll itself was normal — raw tuna. But it’s really the topping that makes this a must order! –Crab/Lobster Roll — I can’t recall what this one was called, but it had crab and lobster. It was just okay. I’m sticking with the Black Pepper Tuna Roll! Also got a bottle of cold, unfiltered sake(Nigiri). Service was excellent, and my friend said her sashimi was fresh. Prices are reasonable. We’ll be back!

The menu is very extensive. Almost too much. Lots of great options though. I wish the food had tasted as satisfying as it sounded. The names of some of the rolls were obscure, so I don’t remember the ones we ordered. We ordered a riceless hand roll. There was only a little tuna and avocado, the rest was that fake, crab meat with heavy mayo. We also got a riceless roll. Again, too much krab. The most disappointing was the ahi poke. It was mostly slivered onions! A ridiculous amount. Plus, the ahi pieces were super tiny. Service was great, but prices high for what you get. It was $ 40 for those 3 items.

I prefer their cut-rolls more than the actual sushi, not as fresh and mouth watering as other sushi places. Their salmon was one of my preferred items, and expect a lot of rice, huge clump under each piece of rice. Great and friendly service with pretty good happy hour.

I have been coming to Kobe with my family for a few years and we’ve never had a bad experience. We usually come for dinner time and it’s usually not too busy, it’s a quieter setting which is nice because you can easily talk to the people you’re with. Their happy hour is large in variety and includes a lot of my favorite sushi. The salmon sushi is always fresh, as well as the rolls. RECOMMENDATIONS — * Nabeyaki Udon is a must try ! We order this every time we come in, it comes in a big pot and is easily sharable up to 4 people. * Matthew Roll is probably my favorite roll that I’ve tried so far. It does take longer than the others to come out because it has baked halibut on top but it is definitely worth the wait! * And I love their Spicy Tuna Roll as well, mainly because they actually make it spicy unlike other places where I usually can’t taste the spice.

Kobe Sushi is an interesting sushi spot with a great happy hour special. It’s located in a plaza where there’s a 7 – 11 and Phở-licious. I’ve been going here for a long time because everyone needs a regular cheap spot to get their sushi fix. I would love to eat at some of my favorite sushi spots every time I get a sushi craving but it’s not economically feasible to pay for Sushi Zo, Kanpai, or Yamakase every month. Hence, this is where Kobe, Matsu and other mediocre sushi spots come into play. Kobe has $ 2 beer specials, $ 2.50 for hand rolls and 50% off of rolls. It’s definitely not the best quality fish and the preparation for the sashimi is amateur at best. However, it does it’s job. I could get my American rolls craving and sushi fix done with. Plus, I could eat sushi like how 98% of people eat sushi, which is drench the sushi in soy sauce or dip the rice part of the nigiri in soy sauce and not feel bad at all. The service is usually good and friendly. I have never had an issue with the wait staff and don’t think I ever would. They do with what the restaurant offers and it’s not their fault that Kobe doesn’t have the best sushi. Overall, Kobe hits a certain market for sushi fans. It’s more tailored to non-sushi snobs who are used to American rolls and wasting a good sashimi with unnecessary amounts of soy sauce. In other words, it’s for people who don’t know what good sushi is all about, which makes up 98% of the population. It’s probably too late for this but I’m a sushi snob.
