I just can’t stay out of trouble.
So I’m going in for my 3^rd live scan in 3 weeks. Each time I get scanned, it can only be used for one purpose. Even if it’s being sent to the same department. Because government is efficient like that.
That’s $ 16 dollars for the service and $ 32 to the Department of Justice for this round.
Really though, I’m not in trouble. This live scan is for a new job, and I was sent here by HR.
This place faces Talbert Ave., turn onto Third St. to park in the back. GPS might take you pass it then you’ll end up backing up in the middle of the street and getting honked at. Not that I would know…
On a sunny afternoon, birds chirping, finding a window plastered with the U.S. flag and entering a suite lined with glossy photographic prints, I felt like I had entered a rustic trailer in the middle of nowhere.
Some unplanned moments are just comically on point. As I sat waiting my turn, reading a Unilocal review/​complaint regarding supposedly «worn prints», the lady was telling the girl ahead of me that her prints were worn.
When my turn came, although some errors showed up, she assured me the prints are fine because my fingers were not worn. Lucky me.
Although the results came through quickly, from the woman’s outfit of sweatpants and slippers to telling people their prints are worn thus difficult to capture, my impression of the place can be summed in one word: unprofessional.
Three stars because I really needed to pee, and she let me use her restroom. It was clean and had plenty of soap, although the hot water was shut off. I would not return unless forced to.

What a waste of my time. This place is good in the sense that you can just do a walkin and not have an appointment as like other places.
This is why this place sucks, and you should take notice when they roll your finger prints. Some of my prints did some a green pass when she did them and i started noticing it. I told her that shouldn’t we roll them again until we get a green pass? She said no, it’s my fingers and that my fingers have been worned down. She said, I’ll prob get a name check thing from the berau because of that. Knowing that, she still took my money cause of the rolling fee and sending my stuff. Whatever. So, i got a notice that my prints werent accepted. Even on the notice, it says to not go back to where i got them done and go to a different place like the the police agency. So, first i went to her again since i wouldnt be charged for the rolling fee. She told me the last time, i wouldnt be charged if i had to do it again. So, i had her roll my fingers amd i see the red signal pop up again, and im like shouldnt we try again? She said, it wouldnt matter and i would have to do the name thing. So, once she finished rolling my fingers, i told her im going to try somewhere else and dont send those cause i figured they prob wouldnt get accepted like the last time.
So, i went to the costa mesa police dept. Their machines were a little different. They tried to roll the fingers that didn’t pass the first time again until there was a good score. I did have to make an appointment which was the next day and pay for another rolling fee cause they didnt do it for me before, but i didnt have to pay the other processing fees cause i paid thst before hand.
And you know what? My finger prints passed after getting it done at the police dept, so it wasnt because of my worn fingers, but the technique of the technician.
So, if you have the time go to the costa mesa police dept get it done there instead. I believe their rolling fee is less too.

Address is somewhat wrong or they moved to a different suite. On Talbert, you want to turn into Third. Parking area to the left. Walk towards Talbert street and the place is facing the street.
Small quaint place. It’s literally a cube inside but they have everything they need. Friendly workers. I had a lady do my fingerprints and she wiped down my fingers with sanitizer and cloth. Some places I’ve been to didn’t even wipe or have me use hand sanitizer. If was pretty quick, especially if you have your paperwork filled out and ready. I was in and out within 10min.

Came here on a whim to complete my live scan finger printing. It is located in a quaint multi-​business complex on Talbert and Third in Suite 1B, facing Talbert. Just walk towards the main street and look for the Live Scan sign.
The gentleman was friendly, quick, and professional. Thankfully, he had change for my $ 100. I prepaid $ 32 to my soon-​to-​be employer, so I only had to pay $ 16 upfront. I was there for barely 10 – 15 minutes, and he quickly scanned all my finger prints, which he said gets sent to the Department of Justice. For my employer’s standpoint, they recommended him because apparently he rarely makes mistakes compared to other agencies, walk-in’s are welcome, and the price is mid-​point.
Overall, I was pleased with how quick and painless the entire process was. On my end, I don’t have to do anything else. Also, I remember doing it a few years back and had to fork out $ 100+. This time it was still costly at $ 48, but much more bearable in comparison.

We have used NBSS twice in the past 3 years, the first time I had a wonderful experience (in that I walked in, was seen immediately and didn’t hear that we did not receive our results). This time was completely different. We needed to get our prints done for our fost/​adopt agency. I brought in the forms that were completed for both my husband and myself (2 per person; one for fostering one for adoption). Because I was not familiar with the process, I went along with what the gentleman told us. He took our forms and gave me a price. When he handed me the receipt, I asked him why we were getting one of the forms back and he said that was my receipt. I figured in this day of technology he just scanned them and gave us back the one. Fast forward 6 weeks: I get a call from the FFA asking if I had done my Adoption set of prints. When I called NBSS, Mr. D told me it was impossible that I had an original document and asked for the ORI number. When I provided him the information, he continued to tell me that I never brought that form in (although it has HIS signature at the bottom on both) and that he gave me a copy of the one he processed (which he did not). While he never accepted responsibility, when asked how he missed the form, all he said was «I made a mistake». I get that. I wish that he would have been more apologetic for the oversight. Instead he offered an accusatory tone, brush off and no solution. I am completely disappointed in the lack of customer service. Wonder how many others he has «made a mistake» with. How many of us have used their services and never received the results directly? If you use NBSS, be sure you KNOW where the results need to be so you can follow up. I’m guessing I’m not the first one this has happened to. Now, we are delayed about 6 weeks with our certification because of his mistake, to which his response was «fingerprints are done overnight, what the DOJ does with them is not my concern». Yes, Mr D., but I put my trust in you and your expertise to get the correct information sent the first time I was there with the correct forms I submitted to you.

I am reviewing the address look up only, not the fingerprinting. I recently paid for the address look-​up. I did not receive any warning that the list might be incomplete or include errors. I have moved quite a bit over the past few years and the address list I received was missing many of my addresses. I explained that it would do me no good because it was incomplete, but was not able to obtain a refund of the fee I paid for this service. So, fingerprinting fine, but if you need your address history, I recommend you go with a different service or take the time to compile it yourself.

If you need to get your finger print scan for security purposes, this place is quick and easy and you’re out!
Small little retail front, came in got my finger prints scanned, paid and was out with in minutes. I called ahead of time and no wait!!! And their fees are pretty competitive vs other fancy places.

Quick fast service. Frank has great customer service skills. They accept walk-​ins and have no problem setting up mobile service for group events. As a company owner I highly recommend utilizing their services for Live Scan.

It seems that everyone wants you do to a criminal background check before employment and credentialing; however, they neglect to tell you that you’ll feel like one in the process. :/​I have been to agencies where the representatives are rude and obnoxious and in addition the hours stink and they’re appointment only. LAME!
But there’s no need to fear there’s an alternative to meeting the employment criteria without compromising your integrity. National Background Security Service, Inc. is a small 2 man operation that would appreciate your business and cares about the customers.
