Residence Inn Huntington Beach Fountain Valley

We stayed at the Residence Inn in Fountain Valley after good experiences at other hotels in the same chain. We were in the back of the property in Room No. 912 over the Thanksgiving holiday. We left for the day and came back to the room at about 10:00 pm with our nephew on Wednesday night to find the door propped open with a towel like the housekeeping staff does. Obviously, the room had been left open and unattended for several hours exposing my family to danger and our property to theft. Apparently, no one at the hotel gives a damn.
I reported this immediately and was told it was probably the housekeeping staff and that I could speak to the manager the next day, Thanksgiving. I was later told that housekeeping denied this and that they would check their system to see who had opened the door between the time we left and the time we came back. I was also told that the manager would not be available until Monday and that they could not check who entered our room until the engineer got back at the same time. Apparently, no one at the hotel gives a damn. Still no response from the time we left (other than the changed stories).
I called again while we continued on to Reno where I had some work to do and stayed at another Residence Inn. No, reply. No response. Apparently, no one gives a damn.
I called again about 2 weeks after the event when I was back in Las Vegas. I finally spoke to the manager and was told she had not heard about it (despite the several promises that she would be told by other staff while we were there and after we left) and that she would investigate it and get back to me. It is now two weeks later and I still don’t know who was in the room and why my family was unnecessarily exposed to danger. Apparently, no one gives a damn.
I left another voice mail with the manager this evening after hours. I’m guessing no one will give a damn. We’ll see… and I’ll update this over time.
01÷12÷16 Well… got some time… finally… to follow up since nothing at all from the Hotel since the original posting. Apparently, I was right: no one gives a damn about leaving guest rooms open. Left a message… we’ll see what happens… perhaps they’ll call back. Not hopeful that they’ll suddenly give a damn…

Room was nice – furniture, flooring, and such. Room was missing a remote control which was delivered quickly. There was no bathroom trash can, only trash under the kitchen sink. The worst was the thermostat didn’t work and it was a cold night. Overall ok.

My family and i had to stay here for a couple weeks while we were having some water damage repaired at our home. This place was xlean and very accomodating. Hotel staff were super friendly. Pool and hot tub were clean. Laundry facility, granite kitchens, we had a 2 bdrm suite and it was great. They also have a full basketball court, free breakfast and some other events in the evening that included beer and wine. Great place to stay. Would definetlg recommend this hotel and will definetly stay with residence inn again. Thanks to the staff whos made our stay a really good one.

Stayed the night. Staff was friendly, the room was nice and clean. However, there were many gnats in the room. Aside from the gnats, we had a pleasant experience.

A solid three star stay. The room itself was nice and the bed comfy. If I were needing to stay long term in the area, I would consider it. Overall, it’s nice enough. Our initial check in experience wasn’t great. Marriott keeps pushing to use the mobile check in, but it has flaws and kinks that clearly need to be worked out! It let me choose my check in time. I said, great, noon it is. It said «Okay, see you at noon.» We hit traffic and stopped for lunch so we didn’t arrive until 2, so obviously the room is ready. Right? Wrong. «There are no rooms available yet, check back in 45min-​1hr». I start having a polite yet silent mini panic attack. We have to be at an unveiling (like a funeral but a year later) in one hour and it’s 25 min away and I look awful. I need my room to freshen up in. Your app told me my room was ready. Seriously? Miraculously, 10 min later, a room is ready. We walk in, it’s muggy and hot in the room but we turn the air on and think it will cool down by the time we come back later. Right? Wrong, again! We come back 3 hrs later and it’s hotter and muggier in the room. My husband’s observation is that they’ve stuck us in the freeway facing, no air conditioning, unready room because we’ve cashed in one of our free Marriott nights. But, we’ve earned that night with our loyalty and points. So that can’t be right, can it be?! Probably. They send in an «Engineer» to fix our air. He’s clearly the on call janitor. He can’t fix it. They agree to move us and suddenly we are in an arctic freeze zone. Yay! I can always turn the thermostat up. The nightshift guy was great. He pointed me towards «Afters» for National Ice Cream day to get a milky bun which is a donut filled with hand crafted ice cream. Yum! He also told me to spin the bingo wheel and I won 500 bonus points (but they’ve yet to be credited to my account, so we’ll see if that was real). We chose the residence over the courtyard for the free breakfast but we’re disappointed when our appetites were lost to the big black hair mixed in with my scrambled eggs. That was the end of that. It was looking good with the chocolate chip pancakes, steel cut oatmeal, and all. But that truly ruined breakfast. Yuck! Look, you get what you pay for. It WAS a free night. Probably $ 115 a night otherwise. You would just think that the loyalty points would get you some nicer accommodations. It’s not like you get them everyday.

This is my first ever review on Unilocal.Even after using it for years. My wife and I are here ayer the nightmare of check in. First we were given a room that had some one else on it. Next we where given a room that the keys didn’t work. Once we got into our room someone else came in expecting to see their room.
Needless to say after all that we where offered a complimentary snack come on.

nice place. staff is friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed here several times for leisure and the front desk lady Deborah has helped me both times. she’s very knowledgeable about the area and always has a smile on her face. overall good experience with each stay.

Marriott’s Courtyard & Residence Inn is located on the same property!
I had my reservation for courtyard location & I cancelled the courtyard location for residence Inn, since courtyard doesn’t offer breakfast & residence inn does.
& When we drove here, I was surprised & it was an” LOL moment” for me & my hubby when I explain the situation to him.
Me & my hubby really enjoyed our stay here, Marriott’s Residence Inn Fountain Valley.
We stayed here for just one night, I wish we stayed longer!
The stay went by fast, we didn’t even get to check out the pool or walk around the area.
When we checked in (Friday afternoon), the supervisor that helped us (Andrew, Ark? Sorry that I didn’t get name right) he was very friendly!
I’m happy to be Elite with Marriott so I got to play a game they have for Elite members.
I got to spin the wheel & won a gift.
I also got upgrade to high speed wifi for being Elite. :) Yay!
The Room we got was very nice! & very spacious!
Residence Inn brand always comes with kitchen essentials– too bad we didn’t make use of this. (fridge/​stove)
I love that they have Paul Mitchell products! (shampoo/​conditioner)

Not terrible but not great. Parking is a major pain. Window in room open in arrival which was weird. Older rooms– have been worked on but not new.

I do not recommend anyone booking here for any occasion. I recently booked a room here for my husband on the wknd of our wedding and later to find out he got kicked out with his groomsmen two hours after arriving and with no warning or anything.
I felt like since they knew it was for a wedding and we booked two suites, they already had a security eyeing on us.
The suite was not worth what we paid for at all. They really need to remodel or get a facelift. Please do not consider booking here. I am very disappointed and will never consider booking here again.

This hotel was great! The rooms were spacious and clean! They had a list in the room that lists out all the menus around the area that will deliver to your hotel, like BJs. I’ve never seen that before in a hotel. The hotel was nice and quiet and the beds were perfect! I had a to dock a star because I think the price was high for the location it was in (it wasn’t in a bad location but it’s not around anything special either). This was also the first hotel I have ever stayed at that wouldn’t let me do a late check out, not even for an hour. But it is cool that their check out time is at 12:00 (I’m use to other hotels being 11:00).

Worst breakfast service ever! Ran out of food a half hour before the end time of 10 am. Did not bring out more. At 10:03 the entire breakfast service was picked up and shut down. They even put water and coffee away.
Several people asked for items they were told «few minutes» but the few minutes never came.
Too bad it was a nice place.

We got ourselves a very nice studio suite with a full granite kitchen during our family Disneyland trip. Very clean and nice place! Beautiful king size bed. Feels like a condominium. Complimentary WiFi & breakfast! One of the best hotels I stayed so far besides Vegas. Close to all the good Asian foods and not a bad drive to Disneyland.
The staffs and everyone who stayed there were very nice. I will definitely come back again and again! :)

I wasnt sure about this place when placing the registration and my GPS actually made me get on the 405 to try and enter (enterance is on Slater) and then the property is split between the Courtyard and Residence Inn (stay at the Residence Inn).
Let me start by saying I stayed during prom weekend and had to sign a waiver for noise (it didnt bother me and not sure if they do this every time) but the registration and eating area was well lit and inviting. There is ample amount of parking and even picnic benches to eat outside. I got the studio king room bottom floor and it was a decent size room with a kitchen, a fold out couch, fireplace and bathroom with side cupboards.
I came back to the property late (around 12:30 am) from the OC Observatory, which is about 2 off ramps away and heard a little noise from the prom guests but it wasnt bad at all! Turned around and had a 5k run at the OC fairgrounds and got there in 15 minutes, so it was not far away at all!
Returned and had a great complimentary breakfast and they have plenty of seating area but also you can sit outside by the small water fountain.
Overall great staff, great location and great rooms!

Laying in the bed of 2-​room suite currently while writing this…
I live about 25 – 30 minutes away from this hotel but decided to stay with my parents who booked a hotel for a wedding… Upon entering I was impressed! It’s huge, more than enough room for us.
Bedrooms: nice and clean, great sized closet, good bed with light bedding.
Bathrooms: very clean and taken care of… Cute shower curtains and good water pressure.
Service: excellent! Girl who helped us was Ray and she was very friendly.
Living room/​kitchen: very nice and clean
This place is like sleeping in your first starter apartment everything from the exterior to the interior! Veeeery quiet also!

I love the Marriott Brand. They’ve been extremely good to me over the years that I’ve been Elite. I generally opt for the JW or Renaissance Hotels, however, there are times when only a Residence Inn and/​or Courtyard are in the available in a particular area where I’m traveling. I was in the area on business; my choices were the Residence Inn or Neighboring Courtyard.
Between the two I generally gravitate to the Residence Inn; not because of the free breakfast (I never seem to make it anyway), but because it feels more like a home. I like having a microwave and refrigerator in my room so that I can heat up my food, keep nice cold beverages on tap, and hoard ice cream sandwiches from Han’s Santa Ana in my freezer during my stay, lol.
It’s also nice to have a semi private living area with fire place, full kitchen and separate bedroom space all thoughtfully decorated with modestly modern furnishings. Yes, the property could use a face lift, especially in the main lobby/​check-​in area. However, the rooms itself are decent. The modern kitchen upgrades are the clear winners with stainless steel appliances, faux granite counter-​tops (could be laminate) and frosted glass cabinetry. Keurig machines would be a nice added touch. They really need to get rid of those over-​used and outdated wanna be Mr. Coffee looking makers. But, I digress. Not everyone is a coffee snob like me.
Housekeeping could have done a better job in some areas, specifically the restroom and refrigerator/​freezer. There was hair inside the freezer. Not good folks. Let’s get it together.
Overall, I’d say I had a three star hotel experience. The service is what kept me smiling, even when it was clear they made a few unacceptable errors. They always find away to keep me a happy Elite member. It’s the Marriott way. That’s what keeps me coming back.

A couple of years ago, we were in the market for a new hotel to stay for our family reunion. After looking at many different locations, we chose the Residence Inn.
It had spacious rooms, plenty of area for our immediate family to be comfortable for a couple of days. We all agreed that the bedsthe were quitein comfy. The kitchen was great to save money and not eat out too much. We could also entertain friends and family. Simply love the quiet grilling area in the courtyard.
The pool are is perfect for the kids. My husband and I enjoy the basketball court.
There’s also plenty of privacy with the way the units are situated.
The best suprise was the breakfast! We no longer pack breakfast foods as their selections were so filling and scrumptious.
This hotel is now part of our yearly itinerary when visiting California.

We booked our daughter and husband in while they were here for the holidays. We loved the fact it looked homey and had a fireplace.
The kids loved the comfort of the room and bed. However, the first day of breakfast they got there at 9:00 am (breakfast was held until 9:30) and most of the food was gone and the eating area crowded. They were told, «You’ll have to get here earlier next time.» One of the reasons I booked the Residence was the fact breakfast was included. Not acceptable.
It was warm this December so they only tried the fireplace once. They couldn’t figure out how to start it because there wasn’t a log or a wall switch. Upon calling the front desk they were told, «It’s a wood burning fireplace and all our logs are sold out. You will have to go to Ralph’s (grocery store) to buy one.» This was New Year’s Eve. Really?! Why didn’t they go to Ralph’s and replenish their supply?
I was and remain very disappointed. The room looked nice but the lobby was small and the other irritating factors mentioned above would not entice me to book there again. We’ve had nothing but good experiences with the Courtyard which is right next door. The Courtyard is cheaper, the lobby is lovely and the rooms are gorgeous.
My daughter and her husband didn’t want me to make a fuss while they were here because they were so grateful we comped the room for them (what a waste of certificates). Nonetheless, I still feel short-​changed.
A Priority Club Member

I wanted to take a last minute trip out to Huntington Beach for Easter weekend, and I chose Residence Inn for the price, and for my previous experiences at Marriott hotels. We arrived later in the evening, and were greeted by a very friendly and sweet gentleman behind the front desk. He gave us options on where we wanted to stay (closer to the amenities or further away for privacy), and even offered a late checkout for the next day. We ended up staying inside the main building, right up the stairs from the main entrance.
The studio suite was spacious enough for my fiancé and myself. It included a couch, reclining chair, ottoman, television, king sized bed, full sized refrigerator, and dining table. Everything in the room was in working order and in good shape.
The beds were good, not great. However, after a night of walking Main Street and playing around on the pier and beach, we knocked out pretty quickly when arriving back at the room.
In the morning, they provide a complimentary breakfast with eggs, oatmeal, fruit, biscuits, sausages, toast, bagels, and waffles that you can make yourself on their waffle maker (super cool)! Be prepared to battle out hoards of hungry people.
Had a really great experience here, and I recommend staying at this hotel. It’s not too far away from Main Street and Huntington Beach pier (about a 10 minute drive).

The front desk apologized for the horrible sofa bed mattress and agreed to credit back some Marriott points and let maintenance know. I’ll post a photo. Comfortable beds are expected at a Residence Inn, but not delivered here.
Parking and property layout leave something to be desired as well.
Breakfast was good and staff there friendly, so that made it a two star rather then a one star for this review.
Put some money into capital expenditures please, and inspect rather than waiting for complaints for action.
