Sound Matrix Studios

I found this with an on-​line search looking for rehearsal space. The thing is, I’m not a muscian, but I am solo performer/​story teller. Now I usually use dance studios to rehease and there is usually a class going on the next wall over and can’t use my voice the way I need to. But here I can be as loud as I want! Huzzah!!! The room is basically empty if you want (which I do), they also have rooms with sound equipment set up. Everyone here is knowledgeable, friendly and ready to help at a moment’s notice. Clean restrooms! A definite plus. Also their rates are very reasonable. I’m doing a San Diego Internaltional Fringe Festival this week and so happy I found this place for reherasal.

I’ve been standing at the front window for 45 minutes trying to find someone, anyone, who works here. No luck so far.
I even tried calling on my cell phone from the lobby. No answer.

Nice place to jam and get some practice in. A few of the rooms are small not well insulated. Being a drummer it makes it hard to hear the low kick over the highs from the rest of the band. They have decent loner equipment. They could boost the AC a little bit more. Wish there was more places like this closer to me.

Been coming here off and on for the last 6 years and always received the best customer service! We just recorded my Bands Demo here and we Love the way it turned out!!! The prices are always reasonable and the staff is beyond cool!!!

I’ve been to SoundMatrix on various occasions. Parking is great, rooms are usually very clean, bathroom is acceptable. The only thing I’d complain about is how cold they blast the AC in here! Being a violinist, it meant strings slipping all night and catching hypothermia.

The rehearsal room was a great price. Their was plenty of parking. The Front desk guy was very helpful and I will totally go back some day.

A lot of places like this are pretty crappy, but Sound Matrix is very chill. I’ve rocked out here with buddies from Thursday Throwdownsa few times, and was impressed with the facility. Good per hour rates, decent equipment, and most importantly a clean bathroom! Hey, that’s damn important when you’re a chick.

I LOVE this studio! It is very roomy, lots of parking, very clean, up-​to-​date, and extremely friendly front staff!
I am here 2 times a month because of THURSDAY THROWDOWNS, a non-​profit organization that invites all musicians to come in and play with one another. Sound Matrix has graciously allowed us to host these sessions here. I recommend this studio to all my musician friends because of the high quality studios and modern feel.
I highly recommend this place to any band or musician organization that needs a roomy, comfortable rehearsal space.
Not to mention their huge 20×40 mural of Pink Floyd’s «The Wall» is bad ass!

Sound Matrix is an amazing place to play… has great sound for all your band needs. I have just recently started going there to rehearse with my band and the staff are always helpful and courteous to everyone and their requests. Recommend them for all your music and band needs. My band name is Prowler and I hope everyone gets a chance to play there…

Sound Matrix has been a great spot to jam with my friends from Thursday Throwdowns! I have had the opportunity to grow in leaps and bounds here in my musicianship. The equipment is always in decent condition, and compared to other studios, this place is top notch! Their prices are very reasonable and I’ve never been disappointed with an experience here :)

The best place to practice around in orange county.

Sound Matrix is the perfect all-​terrain/​purpose work boot of the local (ish) rehearsal space industry. Rough. Tough. And just gets the job done.
They have a few options for room sizes, but I recommend getting the smallest one that fits everyone in the band. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bit cramped, you wont be staying long.
Most of the mic grills are dented and smell funny. They provide a PA and a couple, to few, monitors depending on room size. The PA is basic and it almost has been known to become just another hassle when it starts feeding back. They have rental amps, cables, and such. I don’t think any instruments (we had to go buy a bass @ Guitar Center down the street and just returned it when we were done) but they may have a couple locked up somewhere if you want to ask.
There is a soda and snack machine that will steal your money.
Upstairs from the little check-​in window there is an awesome guitar tech. He does everything from guitars to mandolins, amps, basses… whatever needs fixing really. Its moderately priced but he’s a cool guy.
The guys are nice, the rooms are OK, prices pretty good, but I still prefer my garage.

i remember my buddy tyler worked here and used to let us practice for free, and he’d come in to our practice room and spark a bowl hahah. there are cheaper places around, but sound matrix is pretty legit. i basically see it as a last-​resort type place. first choice is jamming for free at my house or a band-mate’s house (woo free!) but i’m down with sound matrix. the last time i rented a room i believe it was $ 16/​hr (2 hour minimum) for an equipped room. i always bring my own drum equipment because their drums/​cymbals/​hardware are among the cheaper brands. but they supply decent amps, and their PA systems are usually alright.

If youre a musician or play in a band and youre from OC. and if you dont know what Sound Matrix is then you probably dont melt faces when you get on stage. Or you have your own rehearsal studio and youre pimping and your band rips.
Ok ill stop rambling now and get to the point.
Sound Matrix is right off Euclid off the 405 freeway right by Guitar Center. Its the only place you need to know about if youre band is looking to tighten up. Choose from many equipped and unequipped rooms.
You dont really hear the other bands in the other rooms and if you do then your band needs to turn the F*ck up and lay into it. haha jk. Theyre open monday thru friday and the employees are really nice and chill. Want to record a demo or a music video? These guys have the pro gear and the facility to get err done.
Ill be playing drums for the rest of my life… whether its with some shitty cover band at the Blue Beet or by my self in a room at Matrix… but all i know is when my future wife has enough of me and my drumset and kicks me out, ill always have a place to go where they know my name… or at least my band’s name. word em up
