Warner Avenue Animal Hospital

Up until today I would have given this vets office 5 stars. They are always very friendly and have taken good care of my dogs. They saved my Jade’s life when the diagnosed her with Addison’s disease and got her on the proper medication quickly. They are honest and upfront about prices. However, they made a huge error that has left me heartbroken. My Jade passed away, we took her in to be cremated. They had told us $ 45 if we do not want ashes back and $ 120 if we do want ashes back. Initially she told us the total was $ 45, we corrected her and said it should be $ 120 because we want her ashes back. My husband spoke to them and they said it will be max 2 weeks but probably sooner because they had a large shipment. Today its been over 2 weeks so my husband called the front desk rep shuffles around and has to call him back. She calls back and says due to a «clerical error» Jade was cremated with all the other dogs and her ashes were not saved!!! They offered some of the ashes of all the dogs that were cremated (Jade included) and a full refund. I appreciate their honesty as they could have given me a box of other ashes and I would not have known. I appreciate them providing a full refund and their sincerity in apologizing. But that does not make up for an error of this proportion. I love my dogs they are my children! I intended on saving a vial of her ashes while spreading the rest. I know I’ll have a piece of her but I’ll also have apiece of other dogs I never knew. This is a major mess up. They were very apologetic, but I just feel something like this should have never happened. I am assuming the gal who initially charged us $ 45 input into the computer no ashes returned then after we corrected her and she charged us the $ 120 she didn’t go into the system and update it to us wanting the ashes returned. Due to this unfortunate «clerical error» they’ve lost a loyal customer, I just do not have faith in their records. If you’ like to have your pets ashes returned I’d recommend going elsewhere.

The staff here are professional, and compassionate. I came to them distraught after the worst experience at AAA Animal hospital in Huntington Beach and Warner Ave Animal Hospital were able to thoroughly explain everything to me for what was needed for our sweet puppy and they were able to do all they could to help her. Within seconds my dog was taken into their care, within minutes the vet was able to drastically reduce the seizures she had somehow started having as a result of the lack of care and dehydration the AAA animal hospital had caused.
I have several pets and all of them will be making Warner Ave Vet out new sort vet home. You cannot put a price on good care and compassionate staff.

My Bengal cat Mikey went here for a 10 day stay whilst I was away. They looked after him so well and came out un-​stressed and in great shape. They’re the sister hospital to Beach City on Warner that I have been using from day one of cat ownership and so was happy to give them a go, you should too.

Dr. Scherer is simply amazing. He has been our vet for over 20 years and I can’t imagine taking our cats to anyone else. He is kind, knowledgable, and compassionate. What more could you ask for in a vet? The office staff is very friendly and helpful. We have been through both happy and sad times here, but I could not have asked for better treatment for our pets or for us as customers.

I absolutely love this Vets office and couldn’t be happier with the decision to move my dogs from AAA Animal Hospital. The staff are the absolute nicest and sweetest, there is never a wait since they allow for appointments, and the price is the same if not cheaper than AAA which is supposedly a low cost animal hospital.
I highly recommend Warner Animal Hospital to everybody I know with pets.

We figured, «Hey, Warner Hospital is the sister of Beach City (our main vet clinic), so it should be as good as Beach City!»
BOY, were we wrong!
I honestly can say, I seriously felt like I’ve completely wasted my money going to this clinic (Beach City is closed on Sunday, so we resorted to going here.)
We recently adopted a stray and needed to bring her in for vaccination, check-​up, and get her nail trims.
We’ve called many other vet clinics and all of them, upon finding out that we’ve decided to adopt a stray gave us the quote of a «free» nail trims for our kitty.
Not here. It’s $ 10 for nail trims. That’s a bummer. (but since. this was the sister of Beach City, we thought, «its not going to be bad, so $ 10 is fine.») and we were reluctant to «trust» new clinics, so upon stumbling upon finding out that this place was the sister of Beach City, we proceeded to book an appointment at this clinic.
I’ve only read that this is the sister of Beach City through other Unilocal reviews. So, I am not completely 100% sure whether this is the sister of Beach City. I know Guy works at Beach City & this clinic…
Dr. John Hartwick is the main reason of why we’re completely disappointed in this clinic… Comparing this Dr. to the others we’ve been through (Dr. Beshai, Dr. Black) he seemed less friendly and very uninformative. Also, by appearance, he seemed untidy…
Dr. Hartwick questioned our kitty’s gender for a period of time. He couldn’t handle her on his own so, he had to ask Doug for assistant (first time this has happened to us, where a Doctor needed an assistant, while checking out our pet) We have 3 cats. and one of them behaves just like our newly adopted cat…
Doug had to point out (on the form) that her weight has already been measured… (!!!) You know. you start questioning a Dr… when he doesn’t seem to know where the weight of a pet is on a form…
Dr. Hartwick then proceeded to do a «QUICK» check-​up with her… Dr. Hartwick seemed uncomfortable with her…(or at least that’s the impression we got from this whole experience…)
Sigh…So…All in all… I have to take her to Beach City, to do another check-​up on her… Also. Dr. thinks she’s prego… so, we’re seriously nervous right now and dunno what to expect…
I am sadly disappointed in this clinic, being as to how much I enjoy taking my pets to Beach City…(Keep in mind that our commute to these clinics is almost 20 mins… that just shows how highly we think of Beach City)

(1 Flea Pill Medication that actually works pretty darn well!)

(just because she’s a stray, I was reluctant to trim her nails myself because I dunno how she would respond to it)

Dr. Hartwick was very kind and caring. He took excellent care of my 14 year old Maltese. It was a Sunday afternoon and I had just come back from a trip to a sick dog. The staff got me in right away. It was my first time at Warner Avenue Animal Hospital but I will definitely use them again.

Love Dr. Shearer and his staff. We have been doing business with them for over 30 years. I would take my babies/​pets anywhere else!

Dr. Scherer, Dr. Hartwick and the team at Warner Avenue Animal Hospital deserve 100 stars. My puppy was tested positive for parvo, so I brought him here to be treated. That was rough week for not only for my puppy, but for my family and I. But with the constant care and support from the doctors and the team, my puppy made a successful recovery from this nasty virus. The communication from the vets were amazing! Throughout the week, I got daily updates twice a day on how he was doing. I had confidence that the vets and the team were doing everything they could to nurse our little puppy back to health. I am proud to say that our puppy is a parvo survivor all because of the efforts of Dr. Scherer, Dr. Hartwick and the team at Warner Avenue Animal Hospital. I am forever grateful for their work and would highly recommend them to any others who are pet owners.

When I was a kid my parents took all our dogs here and now as an adult I do the same. They aren’t outrageously priced and only want what’s best for my dogs. Dr Scherer always tells me what he would do if it were his dog that’s hurt or sick etc. Can’t say enough good things about this place. When it came time to put my 2 dogs down (at separate times) one of old age and the other of an illness, they were extremely sensitive and explained the importance of quality of life for my dogs. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest place to take your animals that isn’t too ritzy and is reasonable with their pricing.

I attempted to have my pet seen as a walk-​in on a Sunday, but the staff was not helpful and only said that they weren’t sure when they could see us and couldn’t even give us an appropriate wait time. I waited for close to 90 minutes without an update. I was tired of waiting, so I went to the vet down the street who saw us in 10 minutes and even offered a Unilocal deal!

I didn’t want to leave Pet Vet and Dr. Nieto but it’s next to impossible to get an appointment there now-​so I took a chance and brought my 5 year old pug in for a check up and a few minor issues; we saw Dr Casey and she is their new Vet– her first day!
I didn’t know what to expect, Pet Vet took care of my last pug and my current pug for a total of 9 years! Long story short — Dr. Casey is AWESOME! Staff is AWESOME! Sebastien felt so comfortable there, it wasn’t like we were at a VET! Office is small and feels like family!
They are 5 stars ++++
Thrilled with our new Vet!

Fabulous animal hospital. They care so much about animals. My dog wasn’t feeling well and of course they can’t tell us what is wrong. Dr. Major was so gentle and very informative. She didn’t do anything that wasn’t necessary. I would recommend this hospital. They truly care and are reasonably priced.

Did some magic with my dogs butt, now he can poop again.
Really happy we took one of our dogs here when we had problems with him. Everyone there from the receptionist to the doctors were all awesome. Super nice. Couldn’t have asked for a better visit.
Were moving and i will still bring ours dogs whenever they need it.

I can’t say enough about this office.
Though I consider them my «emergency» vet (meaning I still go to a quick clinic for shots), I would never trust another vet.
Both of my family’s dogs visited them throughout their lives. When my golden retriever’s cancer appeared and then killed her within a week and a half, we were here often and on the phone with them even more. Dr. Scherer was so kind with amazing «bedside manner» throughout my bawling hysterically. Unbelievable service during a hard time. Both our cats and my mother’s dog were put down here too. I am so sorry to be indelicate, but I want to write a review about that part of an animals life because it is so so so painful and so important that the Vet handles the situation in the best way to make it as «easy» as possible.
This morning I brought in my 4 yr old lab mix for the first time because he’s been vomiting and not pooping for four days… Dr. Major was awesome and calmed my fears, took him in the back for a few more intrusive tests and let me know that this does happen and sent me on my way with anti-​nausea pills, a few other holistic recommendations (home-​made dog food for a week or so, and psyllium husk).
Again, this office is so ridiculously amazing I wouldn’t dare recommend anywhere else.

Dr. Beshai is guaranteed the best veterinarian in Huntington Beach! So kind and helpful. I’ve never been around a vet who cares enough to talk to me and explain the problem well. Usually vets take forever to come to their office calls and barely speak and leave, however he took the time to talk to me, made me feel very comfortable, and Bilbo feels great! I highly recommend this hospital!

I’ve never known a dog to wag his tail and get excited to go to the vet … Meet our dog Otis, upon arrival at Warner Ave Animal Hospital you’d think we had just pulled up at the dogpark. I’m not kidding. He loves it there. Drs. Scherer and Campbell are both top notch. They take the time to listen and to explain. The office staff has always greeted us with a smile … Otis is a very important part of our family and we won’t trust his care to anyone else …

Dr. Scherer has taken great care of my dogs for the past 3 years. He’s extremely attentive and takes his time thoroughly examining and then explaining the results. The staff is great — very friendly, patient, and helpful. I’ve never felt like I’ve been overcharged for services or medication, as I have at other vets in the past.

This place is the BEST. I have been taking my dog here for almost 3 years now and I leave very happy every time. All the staff is very friendly. Very honest with their prices and very affordable! My dog loves Dr. S! He truly cares about my dog and my new puppy I recently got. He always makes sure my dogs are in tip top condition. What I love best is that he is very honest unlike other animal hospitals that over charge you for things that aren’t actually necessary or wrong with your pet. Dr. S tells me exactly what I need or what I don’t. Love this place, and you will too!

Great experience bringing in my 9 week old puppy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The doctor was able to offer advice and answer all our questions. There was no pressure to buy anything from them. The final price for shots, check up, and microchip was very descent.
Best part of the entire visit was our puppy was not afraid or nervous. He had a shot and did not even notice or Unilocal… which I guess is why I felt the need to haha.
Do not hesitate to take your fur children here.
