Needed some exhaust work, so checked out Unilocal and called the obligatory friend for a reference. He says to me «you’re crazy «if you don’t go see Jim in FRG at Car-​X.
So, took all advice and headed over. Saved $ 1200 bucks bs dealer quote & could not have had a better experience. Jim is the real deal ! Sent him a note last night, appt at 10 am & have the car back at 2 pm. Amazing experience even if I didn’t save all that cash… I will definitely be back & tell others they are crazy if they don’t go see Jim and team too

I am so thankful to have found an auto shop I can trust since moving up here from the west suburbs. I live in Schaumburg but will definitely drive the extra distance to take my car to Jim’s shop the next time I have a problem. I called in the morning to explain my problem (which was a really unusual thing with my gas tank where the sensors were shutting off the pump every couple of seconds to the point where filling up half a tank took 10 or 15 minutes, I hadn’t been able to find any answers on my own) — when I brought my car in that afternoon I learned that Jim had been researching the problem all day and had a few possible explanations, as well as some solutions, ready to go.
It took one day to identify and fix the problem, and at a price that made me feel like I was stealing from them. He did some other basic checks, balanced my tires and even put a few gallons of gas in my tank! My car has been running just as it should ever since. Jim is friendly and honest, no BS about him, and he knows what he’s doing. Top notch service all around.

I’ve always had a great experience at this place. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to. I never feel pressured and I get an honest opinion on my cars needs. I think they have reasonable prices, plus I get coupons in the mail for great deals for this location. I recommend them to anyone in the area
Oh and they even drop me off and pick me up from work, its fantastic!

It is really hard to find an auto shop that you simply expect a truthful and reliable experience. Moving to a new community also makes it challenging — how do you find service providers that won’t take you for a ride? It turns out that working for an IT Services provider (Quality Systems Solutions) provided the answer: we have a professional relationship with Jim, and I decided to try CarX for my personal car maintenance needs. Driving an older car (2000 Accord) means deciding what and how much should be done. His good advice is that I can maintain it well enough to keep for several more years. Beyond this, there is such value in building a relationship on trust. With Jim Burke’s CarX, I can think about other things in life and not worry about my car!

I called at 1:30 PM while I was passing this place to see if they could squeeze me in for a last minute oil change. (My car was in desperate need and noone else in the area seemed to have availability!) The man who answered my call was extremely nice and stated that though they currently did not have an open bay, one should be available within 15 – 20 minutes and that they would work to get me through as quickly as possible. I arrived 5 minutes after the phone call and he reassured me that they would get me taken care of quickly and within minutes (definitely less than the quoted 15 – 20) they had wrapped up another vehicle and had mine in the garage to start working on it! I can see the technician working and man they are quick and efficient! I’m very happy with the service and plan to return for future service!

I felt like I won the lotto. I had several other local auto repair shops quote on a rebuilt transmission or my Chrysler T&C. Most quoted approx $ 1600. I brought my car in here for one last quote. Turns out I did NOT need a new trans, but just needed the computer reset. The $ 100. Diagnosis seemed very reasonable. Car has been running great for months. Turns out one of the mechanics worked at GM and was aware of this issue. Thanks car x, I will return.

I absolutely recommend this shop. Jim is most accommodating and his employee’s are wonderful as well. It is very nice to see the same group when we go in, everyone is so pleasant and knowledgeable. I have had Luke work on our cars as well as Riley and I would trust this shop with everything from an oil change to a complete engine overhaul. We have older vehicles and have needed the span of service I noted above. I would not take our cars anywhere else.

Really good service at really fair prices. Upfront mechanics and more than willing to explain things to you. If you can’t fix your car, do yourself a favor and let these guys. Take their experience and honesty for a spin and you will come back again and again.

Jim is always extremely fair with his prices, and doesn’t do more than you need done or try to talk you into things like most car repair places do.
I used to bring my cars elsewhere, but after coming here and seeing for myself what true fair car repairs are supposed to be I won’t go elsewhere. I highly recommend this car-​x location is you live locally!

I brought my BMW here And they did a terrible job. I just needed a belt replaced. I could tell there was a sense of confusion and they were having trouble figuring out how to replace a serpentine belt. A few weeks later my car overheated. Why? The new belt they put on snapped, which caused the cooling system to cease, because it wasn’t installed properly. After the overhearing incident I noticed my radiator was now leaking. They offered the explanation that a leaking radiator would cause a belt to phyically break. If you have more then 3 brain cells you would know that makes NO sense. It would make more sense that an overheated radiator would create pressure that might cause a breach in the unit. However they refused to even consider taking ownership of the issue. Very sneaky and I felt like They got away with bad work…

I really like going to the Fox River Grove Car-​X too. Convenient and friendly and won’t charge me for things I don’t need. It’s nice to see the same faces every time I go in there. Jim the owner is very nice. In my experience I would recommend going there early in the day if you need to get your car back right away.

These guys are awesome. The owner’s name is Jim and he knows how to take care of his customers. The shop is super clean and they do a great job.
Drop your car off and run next door for an awesome breakfast at Brunch Café. Jim also has a loaner if you need.
