when Kevin purchased a troubled salon, changed its name, and operated it with a completely different focus from the other eight salons he worked in. His idea was, and still remains, a very new concept; give clients access to all stylists, and treat clients to an upscale experience without upscale prices.

After almost 29 years of hard work, and a friendly, professional attitude, trUe has grown from just three stylists in one location to 20 in two locations — the original in Framingham, and one in Westborough.

trUe offers an extensive line of services such as waxing, coloring, styling and cutting, and event hair, and cater to everyone an on any budget, from children and men, to the busy professional and stay at home parent.

When trUe salon and color café owners Kevin and Tracy Townsend say their salons follow a team concept, it’s not just sales jargon. They live it, and run their business by it every day.

Ever since they opened in Framingham, Mass., they’ve stayed focused on one concept that drives trUe’s success.

«We didn’t like that people had to work around a stylist’s schedule. Clients should get services they want when they want, but not feel like they have to start over every time they visit,» Kevin says.

«Our team concept means our trained stylists review client notes together so clients get the personal service and experience they expect at their convenience.»

Instead of paying stylists a commission, like other salons, trUe stylists are rewarded through customer retention and satisfaction.

«Consistency is the key,» Kevin says.

Today’s trUe’s clients have the option to choose the same stylist, but most happily choose a different stylist, resulting in the same great experience.
