History

Established in 1987.

After graduIating Newark College of Engineering I moved to NH expecting to buy an existing home. I was very disappointed in what was available. I was looking for an energy efficient home, possible Solar and wind power. This was 1980 no one had a clue as to what I was looking for. I decided how difficult could this general contracting be? What rude awakening that was I couldn’t even find a plumber that had any idea of what I was talking about. So I built my first home the «traditional way», 2×6 Stick Built. I quickly learned that this was the most ineffective, waste of labor and material way to build a house, besides starting a house without firm contracts on all aspects of the house proved to be very frustrating for the home owner, not to speak of the cost overruns. My goal in building a home for a client or friend (clients do become friends) is for them never to say «I wish I knew that, before starting to build». We are in our 27^th year of improving on this unique building mode

Business Owner

Bob created and formed the Construction Management Company of Building Alternatives Inc in 1987. During the 22 plus years as President and CEO, Bob guided the company through their growth years developing a unique business model into a Two-​Three Million dollar a year Consulting, Construction Management, and General Contracting firm. The company specializes in building high energy efficient Passive and Active Solar, Geo-​thermal Homes utilizing state of the art technology, such as Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS), 2×6 Panelized Construction, Timberframe and Log systems as well as Modular Homes to qualify for the highest 5 Star Plus rating for energy efficient residential construction. In 2010 Bob expanded his influence into the Energy Audits and Energy Improvement business, servicing the existing Home and Commercial Market. He was the energy consultant for the Better Building Program in Berlin & Plymouth, making low income housing energy efficient.
