History
Established in 2006.
BrainStorm Tutoring, LLC is a diverse and highly-skilled network of young professionals who use motivation and mentorship to inspire personal excellence in students of all ages and in all subjects. The company is the brainchild of Scott Doty, Ramsey HS graduate (’99), and Ashley DiPetrillo, Ramapo HS graduate (’98), who saw a need in their community and have worked diligently for years to meet it. The need is for personalized, tailor-made tutoring – not some nationalized, impersonal tutoring giant that offers yet more classes for the over-worked Bergen County student. The need is for dynamic, localized tutors who understand what it is to go to «that» high school or deal with «this» local issue. And, most important, the need is for mentors who can teach local students crucial life skills like motivation, time management, and disciplined confidence.
Meet the Business Owner
Ashley D. and Scott D.
Business Owner
Ashley DiPetrillo graduated from Ramapo High School in 1998. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Tufts University in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in Engineering Project Management. Besides her immense math nerdiness (she brought her old calculus textbook with her to the hospital the day she went into labor because it’s «fun and relaxing»), Ashley is also an accomplished singer.
Scott Doty graduated from Ramsey High School in 1999. He has B.A.‘s from Tufts U. in Spanish and International Relations, as well as a Master’s from the U. of Melbourne in International Business. He is a National Merit Scholar, a MENSA member, and the 2005 recipient of the coveted Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship. Though he’s not as pretty as Ashley, he likes to fancy himself a solid piano accompanist for her when the couple performs at local restaurants.
