Went to this place 06/22/2016 took my parents here service was excellent served cold water in glasses kept them refilled, i remember when all restaurants used to do this many years ago actually 30 yrs ago. We ordered fried rice, steamed vegatables.& noodles with vegtables. Tea was included. Now we come back on 06÷26÷26 sunday they have buffet 11am-730pm it was okay loved the crispy shirmp. And the wong tong just liked table service much better choices. Get 4 stars because if buffet had more seafoods better upscale selections 5 stars no problems. Will go back.

Not a bad place to eat. It’s difficult to find a good sit-down Chinese restaurant in Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island, and I found this place by driving past it on my way to a friend’s house a few months ago. It didn’t look really inviting from the outside, but I was happy to see that they offered parking in the rear of the establishment. Upon entering, I noticed that the walls were lined with really interesting porcelain dolls, teacups, kettles, and other interesting Asian items. Our waitress kept the table clean and came over a few times to remove the plates we used. We ordered Beef and Broccoli, Pork Fried Rice, Roast Pork, and some steamed Pork Dumplings. The portions were adequate, and the food was good. The prices were what you’d expect for a sit-down Chinese restaurant. There’s a shared parking lot behind the restaurant that looks like it could easily get filled up quickly on weekends or on Friday nights. I went there on a Wednesday around 7pm, and the place was completely empty except for me and my mother. During our meal, I noticed that two people came in for take-out orders, but I didn’t see anyone else come in to dine. It’s not a bad place to eat. I’m still looking for more good sit-down Chinese places in Queens, Brooklyn, or Long Island. There were a few really great places in Queens that I used to go to years ago, but they’ve all closed down.

Disgusting and dirty! I went there for a simple lunch special, your basic chicken and broccoli. As I’m waiting for my order, actually sitting right by the counter. I’m watching the woman start to bag the food… so I stand up waiting patiently and notice that she drops the food on the floor she then picks it up and throws it in the bag not only that she drops the plastic utensils on the floor as well, and then proceeds to put them in the bag. I did yell and ask why she was putting the dropped food and utensils in the bag, and the response was flat out lie! Hence to say if this was going on when I was standing right there, then who knows what happens when you order and then pick it up! There for I will never return there! Filthy, disgusting.

I ordered food for delivery, delivery guy mumbled something in Chinese as he saw the tip I wrote as I was paying with credit card. I said excuse me? He snatch receipt of my hand walked towards his car I said is there a problem? As he was looking at me as he wanted to kill me. He Yelled at me and said.“WHATSURPROBLEM?” I was horrified that I had a crazy delivery guy in front of my house. I called to complained and person I spoke to said they would speak to him. I asked for his name and I was told his name was James. Please beware of this man specially if you are a female home alone. If my husband was home God knows what would’ve happened. Please beware he was crazy.

I like Jani’s but if your in the mood for Japanese food it’s best to go to an authentic Japanese restaurant. And I did’t appreciate our waitress telling us and other guests that we was ordering a lot of food.(I was taking ordering so I could take food home to my son)

Went on Friday 7PM expecting this place to be busy. There are about 20 tables. Including us there were 4 tables occupied. I ate here before, twice in 2010 and again in 2013. The first time food was much better than the average Chinese fare. The next year, only so so. Service was very attentive and good. On this visit we had Szechuan Delight and Sesame Chicken. See photos. The Szechuan delight was tasty and not at all spicy(I did ask for spicy). It had moist chicken chunks, medium shrimp, mushrooms and broccoli with pieces of red and green pepper. This dish was well prepared and all ingredients were warm. The Sesame Chicken was in a too-sweet sauce, was reminiscent of a cheaper restaurant’s. The broccoli was COLD. It was not cool from sitting. It seems the the food was not fresh cooked and just covered with a warmed sweet sauce. The brown rice was cold! The tea was tasteless, as was the Diet Coke. Was it «watered down?»

Yes, I agree with the others that the staff is very friendly and cordial. I have ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura dinner several times this year and it is good. Today I decided to try the Sunday Brunch Buffet. For a buffet that they only have once a week I have to say that I was very disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken and General Tso’s chicken was dry and ratty. Not tender and juicy. And I wasn’t terribly fond of their Sushi. I will stick with the tempura from now on.

As a matter of fact i would rate this place negative stars. Actually told us they are now closed(you never kick people out even after you close), Grade pending, horrible service, horrible quality of food, non veg and veg item placed together on one plate and not even notified about it. The server should tell you what each plate has on it. Plus why in the world would you serve non veg and veg items of two totally different peoples order on the same plate. On top of all that spotted a mouse running twice under two other tables clearly bc the restaurant was nearly empty. Never going back. Worst experience ever!

Not good. Not fresh. Even the soda was flat. Service was extremely slow. I had really bad food poisoning later in the evening, and at 8 months pregnant it was a little scary.

Very pricey chinese/japanese food. Sushi gets soggy. One of the waiter was very rude when we asked for bottled water instead of tea.

During buffet plenty of food. However some places in the restaurant look like they haven’t been cleaned in a while. Near the ice cream area, the counter as sticky and made me a bit suspicious The staff aren’t as friendly and are always busy delivering food or doing chores, this place is good if you’re with friends but alone can be a bit lonely.

Not a fan. I ordered a few kitchen lunch specials and there was no taste whatsoever. The rolls aren’t fresh. The only reason why I gave it two stars is cause I love their chicken maki appetizer… that’s about it.

I walked into this place and felt like I was walking into a Chinese food-induced nightmare. The place is SO tacky. The walls are mirrored and you feel as if you are sitting inside one large hutch cabinet. We went for the lunch special on a weekend, and thank goodness that’s all we came here for. The food was typical Chinese takeout-style food. I got General’s chicken with brown rice. The platter was large, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. Hot and sour soup was like I had anywhere else. Worst of all, we each got a glass of soda and then one refill. Four small glasses of Coke cost us $ 7, almost as much as one of the lunch specials, which hovered around $ 7.50 depending on what you got. Ludicrous! The wait staff wasn’t friendly in the slightest, so there are just no redeeming factors for this place. One of the dudes who works there was sleeping on the chairs next to the restrooms. As you can tell, it wasn’t all that crowded here, which should have been a warning sign to us. Avoid.

I had not been to Jani in a while, so my friend and I decided to head there for dinner before going out. I always find the staff quite friendly, they do their very best with their English and will answer any questions about the menu. My friend got the sesame chicken. What I love about Jani is that they slice the chicken into strips and cook it up so crispy– so much better than my usual takeout. They do the same for their teriyaki chicken which is a crowd favorite amongst my friends. I went on a whim and ordered chicken with hoisin sauce. The menu warned it was«hot and spicy” — however I found it to be sweet and salty. Though I was expecting a little spice, there seemed to be none. Regardless, I still really enjoyed it. The chicken came over some deliciously cooked veggies as well and a bowl of white rice. Their tea is also always excellent. I enjoy going here because it’s large, nice atmosphere, beautiful décor(about a million different teapots!), elegant looking– but affordable! What I’ve had in the past I’d recommend: Shrimp Tempura roll, tempura platter, and their pu-pu platter.

Decent food, I give more credit to the sweet waitress who was very helpful. My family went crazy and ordered everything on the menu, so I got to try everything! We had seafood panfried noodle(noodle was good and crispy) I also was craving a spicy tuna hand roll, and it came out immediately and the seaweed was still crunchy yum! My crazy sisters also craved peking duck and I was sketchy on ordering this at this restaurant but it was really good, crisp skin and the duck wasn’t overcooked and didn’t have that gross duck smell. I’ve gotten a few other items before, I totally forgot what they were but I’ve been here a couple times and I would go back. And they’re kid friendly every time I come in with my niece she has fun!
