I don’t normally like to bash an establishment, but I felt that it was my duty. on Tuesday, I ordered by phone on my way home from work a sushi sashimi combo dinner as I was craving sushi which I normally would get only on the weekend. when I arrived to pickup, I couldn’t help but notice the place was completely empty. on weekends, there are at least a few occupied tables. I teased the cashier like I usually do since they forgot my soy sauce a few times. on my way home, I noticed a horrible smell and thought that perhaps I stepped in something. when I got home, after checking my shoes, I realized the smell was coming from the food. I soon discovered that several pieces of the fish were actually rancid. I’m not talking about a little fishy smell, this was foul, rotten fish. they say don’t get sushi mid-week as you’ll likely get gamey fish, but this was just disgusting. I will be reporting this to the health dept…

Keeps getting worse. Not many alternatives in the area. They are relatively quick with service, but the sushi quality is declining. Go there in a pinch.

I have had way better sushi. This place is gross and the sushi here is mediocre. I like spicy mayo sauce and when I ordered it, i realized that it was just mayo. Also, the miso soup just tastes like warm water. it is disgusting. The only reason why I am giving them 2 stars is because the customer service is excellent and the Thai iced tea is always good.

This place is mediocre. I only get the cooked sushi here because I did buy uncooked once and it smelt funny. This place is good for a quick bite when you’re craving sushi. The kani salad, just FYI, is basically pure mayo and not spicy what-so-ever. I will say that their ginger dressing is amaze.

We went to Colonial Park today and found this restaurant near there. We did eat-in. There are enough tables to eat at the restaurant. We had Vegetable Gyoza, Crazy Roll, Tuna Sushi, and Mixed tempura Udon. Vegetable Gyoza was better than expected. The filling was easily recognized what’s inside rather than made with food processor. Sushi and roll were very good. Mixed Tempura was big volume and nicely cooked. It’s not easy to cook Tempura correctly, but their tempura was thick vegetables with crispy outside. Only negative was Udon soup was miso soup instead of regular Udon soup(soy source base).

Not the best not the worst, but for the most part it’s been pretty quick and easy to order. Today I went there and asked for my usual order subbing the bento box California roll for something else due to allergies which usually costs extra(understood) — I was flat out told no because allegedly they are too busy today. This leads me to believe that the bento box sushi is probably not that fresh. I can’t confirmed but why else would you refuse an upsell?

Love this place for take out sushi! The staff is very pleasant and they always recognize me — extra ginger!

Based upon the take-out tempura, I can’t go more than three stars. Two bento boxes today for lunch; my wife had the shrimp tempura; I had the mixed tempura. Just OK. Main problem being that tempura does not travel well. Take-out place — only three or four tables. Counter help was friendly. Prices are reasonable. But it is mainly a sushi place — we did not try it so I can’t comment on most of the menu.

They have great, affordable lunch specials and awesome special rolls. I got the autumn roll and loved it. I’m a big fan of udon noodle soup, and theirs is very unique. They give you the udon soup, which is pretty bland; it’s just broth, noodles and a few simple veggies — no fish cakes or eggs or anything. But then you get to order a meat or veggie along with it. They have chicken and beef teriyaki, pork, chicken cutlet, seafood, shrimp and veggie tempura, etc. It was tasty and I’ve never seen anything like that. I also love their bubble teas. The green tea with honey was very sweet, which I like. If you don’t like sweet, this one might not be your cup of tea ;)

The food was really good as was the service. I found the portions to be rather small for the price though.

Ordered take out at this place on a Friday night. They made it in ten minutes. That was lovely. The sushi is small but oh my gosh it was super good. Super super good. Sushi is fresh, rice cooked perfectly, and ginger was fresh too. Will deff come here when I want sushi. Prices are reasonable here.

I really, really want to like this place because it’s convenient and close to home. But I’ve given it a number of chances and have been disappointed every time. My main gripe is that every special roll I’ve had has this sweet aftertaste to it that I can’t pinpoint. Even if there is nothing sweet in the roll’s description, I can taste something sugary, and it’s disgusting. Since I’ve only done takeout, I’m pretty much stuck with what I get. I’ve had the chicken teriyaki bento box which was also disappointing. The chicken had a very questionable texture(please don’t tell me what it probably was). The two shumai, salad, and California roll were pretty standard. Unless I’m really desperate for quick sushi, I won’t be returning here. Even then the Shoprite across the street might be a better bet.

UPDATE: I have to add on a star for kind and caring customer service. I order online frequently. Something happened today where the card charged was my old one and not the new one. The problem was I left my wallet at home today so I couldn’t provide the updated information. I proceeded to say that they could cancel my order. Instead the lady on the phone asked her manager about it and they delivered it to me and said I could pay tomorrow. Not many places would do that but its a very kind thing to do! I will definitely be paying tomorrow and had to update my review to reflect this service. It’s above and beyond and places should always get an extra star for that. You can eat amazing food but if you have bad service, it’s moot. On the other hand if you have good food and great service, it equates to having a great time! IMHO anyway. —- I like this place for lunch take out and delivery. I think predominantly that’s what people come here for it seems. Not a lot of place for seating but they do have. They have good prices for lunch specials and their sushi is decent. What I really love this place is that they do not charge extra to have your order done with brown rice, whether it’s the rolls or the entrée. That’s a BIG plus in my book and makes me like this place a lot. It’s sad that most places charge you more to have your dish be more health conscious. I eat like crap, but when I feel like being health conscious, like to have that option without paying more. Two thumbs up!

Just flew in from Salt Lake City and looked on Unilocal for some great Sushi. This place is fresh! The Hurricane roll is off the hook. It looks like a Subway when you roll into their parking lot. Don’t be fooled. The sushi is fresh, tastefully formed. It is really good stuff! Can’t wait to come again.

LOVE this place! Fantastic sushi and the FASTEST delivery! The special rolls can get a bit pricey, but totally worth it in my opinion. Have to stop myself from ordering from here everyday!

I was excited when this restaurant first opened. The restaurant owner was very attentive to anything I asked and preferred, for my order. I was really hooked when she told me they do delivery on their website, since they don’t show up on . I’ve ordered from this restaurant more than 3 times, so I do believe my rating of this restaurant is well-deserved. Location: It’s across a ShopRite in a small plaza. Within the plaza is My Tokyo nestled in between a few other stores, such as a Verizon Wireless, A Yogurt place, Pizza place at the end of the plaza. The plaza is behind a Well’s Fargo bank. There’s ample plaza parking, not a busy plaza. The Food: The food isn’t something that stands out from your garden variety Sushi restaurant, however, one thing that I did notice about this restaurant is their attention to visually pleasing food, cleanliness, and a feel of a caring touch to every order they do. Sushi — The sushi here is great; I particularly like one of the Special Rolls called the Hurricane Roll. The rice they use is short-grained/medium-grained; in my experience the rice has never been soggy, or mushy, or bad quality. The fish is not smelly, however, most of the fish is a bit tasteless. The sauces, and dressings within the rolls make up for the lack of flavor the types of fish, in the sushi, have. Bento Boxes — The bentos are good but sometimes they can be drowning in Teriyaki sauce(It’s a personal preference, I don’t like too much sauce on things). Noodle dishes — They are great, not overly done, but also can be drowning in sauce. Tempura — It’s nicely fried, not over-cooked. I don’t like their Ponzu sauce, I like it a bit sweeter with a citrus flavor. The Curry/Katsu — The curry isn’t the best. It’s not something I tend to order here, however their Katsu is delicious. Their curry(minus the katsu), in my previous experiences, has been watery with not many large chunks of potato, carrots, or any vegetables. There are of course pieces of vegetables, not but a lot. Pros: * Made to order, even the drinks. * Tentative, welcoming atmosphere * Asian candies, sweets for sale upon entrance * Easy parking, open late. * Delivery online. * I have ordered here continuously and have never received an unappetizing, visually unappetizing, and careless/messy orders. * Cleanly packaged orders; upon arrival the food is still hot. Cons: * A bit expensive for the size portions you receive. The flavor and taste of the food themselves do not make up for it. * They have a few artificially flavored beverages that are not very delicious. The prices for them are not worth the price. * You don’t get many side sauces, so ordering them racks up your bill over-all. * Not a big dessert menu. Conclusion: My Tokyo Sushi & Grill is a good restaurant over-all; there isn’t much in particular to say about it. Customer service is great and the cleanliness is what makes this restaurant stand out. They are orderly, clean, and attentive. It does not look like they are stingy with their food items, condiments, or utensils/napkins. Their attitudes have always been welcoming. The food is great, not horrible and orders are made with care. It’s a bit pricey, but I don’t mind supporting a smaller restaurant that can provide all these great qualities, it seems like they care for their customers.

Love the sushi, sashimi, bento box AND their bubble tea. It is mostly carry out so the seating is available. I like going with the kids not only because it’s yummy but also because I’m the only patron seating and no one is glancing at my kids. :) They always give my daughter free candies.

From the reviews I was expecting a lot more from this restaurant. While the interior is quite underwhelming, so was the service. The workers didn’t seem enthused to be there, and you could tell that this place is mostly a take-out restaurant and very little people sit down. Aside from the ambiance, the other issue was the sushi. My friend ordered a roll with some mango in it(I cannot recall the actual name), and it was way too sweet. the sushi quality was okay, but the cost of the sushi for what you were getting was a bit sub-par. If you are in the area looking for some more creative rolls, I’d recommend visiting Ichiban. They are very friendly, their atmosphere is great, and their rolls are definitely higher quality for the same price.

Every sushi item I’ve tried has been fantastic. The teriyaki chicken, however, left much to be desired. Stick with the sushi & you can’t go wrong!

Saw this little restaurant when it first opened so I decided to try them out. I’m a big fan of the Japanese Curry dish which is not a common menu item in most Japanese restaurants. So when I saw that they had it I had to definitely try it out. The portion was great and so was the service. We tried the Chicken Teriyaki bento boxes, the sushi rolls, and washed it down with Bubble Tea. Long story short, it’s now one of our favorite places to eat. The staff is really friendly. They even gave us a free drink for running out of Bobba that day. That was well appreciated. Their prices are reasonable which is why I’ve been coming back for more. I highly recommend this place!
