I brought a gold loop earring to Gold Thumb in July of 2014. They said they could duplicate it to replace one earring that I lost. The quote was $ 300. I’ve lost count of the number of times I went back to Gold Thumb to find out if the earring was done since then. The last time I went, the clerk rudely said«wait until someone calls you.» Today, I finally went back, handed the same clerk the ticket. He went to check on it. It wasn’t ready.(No surprise) He came back down and asked if I had gotten a call. I said no. He went to retrieve the earring, which I was grateful wasn’t lost. I said I would like the earring back. They handed me the earring back. I said the ticket was from 2014. They said, «Oh, sorry about that.» And that was it. They offered no explanation or compensation for my trouble. Thumbs down for Gold Thumb.

My wife and I have been going here for our jewelry needs for some time now. They are some of the friendliest and most helpful people I’ve encountered. They do beautiful work, including custom pieces, and are also VERY reasonable. There’s been more than one occasion when I’ve worked with«AJ» and he’s patiently explained my options, how long it would take and how much it would cost. I can’t say enough good about this shop. It’s the kind of old-time service one appreciates from«Mom and Pop» shops, and we’ll be gettting our jewelry from them for a long time to come.

This little jewelry shop gives you the kind of old fashioned attention for repair, cleaning, etc. that I remember when I moved to Frederick 25 years ago. Haven’t bought anything there yet but I will one day.
