Dr. Pitts specializes in oral and maxillofacial surgeries — from more common procedures, such as wisdom tooth extractions and dental implants, to facial reconstructive surgeries, bone grafts, joint therapy, and oral pathology. With over 19 years of experience, Dr. Pitts treats every patient as an individual and with the utmost kindness, compassion, and respect. He will develop a plan that best fits your unique situation.

History

Established in 1993.

Dr. Pitts graduated with high honors from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1988. He continued his training as an intern at Harvard University School of Dentistry, Harvard School of Medicine, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He also held the position of Clinical Fellow at Harvard School of Dentistry during that time.

Following his internship, Dr. Pitts completed a residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Maryland Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (Shock Trauma) in Baltimore. He was fortunate to be trained by some of the most world-​renowned and widely-​published maxillofacial surgeons in the profession, who were very influential in helping him to excel in his field.

Dr. Mark A. Pitts is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His broad background and up-​to-​date surgical training are strengths which help him provide the highest standard of care for all his patients. Dr. Pitts feels his practice «should exist to provide service to the community and to the individual patient’s needs.» He also believes «each patient should be treated with respect and kindness by me and all of my office staff, and receive only the best treatment possible.»
