Rachel’s Waterside Grill

Rachel’s provides more of an upscale experience on the Nautical Mile which features bars and restaurants of eclectic ambiances and social scenes. The food and service are both decent. The main draw of Rachel’s is dining on the waterfront, but this premium is certainly factored into the prices.

Went for dinner tonight — Fat Tuesday menu. The food was awful! You could tell it was all pre-​prepared and my fish came out cold. Would not recommend!

Been here a couple of times originally for brunch and it is wonderful. Seafood chowder soup and gumbo soup unbelievable… my bf had the twin lobster tails stuffed and he said it was unbelievable. I had the seafood risotto and I loved it… can’t wait 2 go back for the mardi gra menu… what a great place… only thing was the people around us. Noses in the air, but the food made that all disappear when it comes to delicious food

Went there first time for my friends bday. Bread was ice cold. I order house salad comes with goat cheese I asked for new salad came out with salad with goat cheese hidden clearly just «tried to wipe it off». My fish came half the fish ice cold veggies ice cold, my friends meal Rice ice cold. I told the manager all she offered to do was make a new dish we hdeclined and she just walked away. Didn’t offer us anything didn’t take anything off check. Will never go back !!

The price is reasonable compared to others in this area. The food is OK, nothing to write home about, but it is fairly good and not something I would complain about either. You just want it to be a bit better given the location.
The service is consistent. My biggest complaint is that I find it generally cramped and the tables pushed too much together,.

This review is more about the professionalism of Rachel’s staff is facilitating an extremely special night for me and my now fiancée. I picked Rachel’s to propose to my girlfriend of three years because we’d been to Rachel’s several times for anniversaries and birthdays and loved it each time. I called them a week in advance to set everything up, first speaking to the manager Donna, then later the manager Dave, who were both extremely welcoming, helping, and reassuring. Dave gave me a lot of leeway in deciding how I wanted the night to happen. I gave him the ring shortly after arriving when I went «to use the bathroom ;)». Mike was our waiter and made sure we wanted for nothing during our meal. After our delicious fish entrees, Dave and two waiters brought over a dessert, bottle of champagne, and the ring, leaving the rest up to me. In short, it was the most amazing and perfect night facilitated flawlessly by the incredibly staff at Rachel’s. I couldn’t be more grateful! Not as a side note, the food here is seriously tasty, with every option I’ve tried being absolutely scrumptious! We will undoubtedly be back many, many times in the future.

OK, you’re. on the water, getting ready to eat some fish, you would think it would be fresh — right? After all, on the way to Rachel’s, you passed dozens of fishing boats — all with names like Cap’n Pete, Al etc. — well if this fish were fresh, it was impossible to tell with all the silly sauces, oils and syrups covering everything. My fish had mozzarella balls, tomato salsa and some sort of basil basalmic syrup — not a great combination. We had to ask for bread three times and I was thankful for the bread since it got the taste of the meal out of my mouth. This place uses a lot of butter, cream and oil. Everything is drenched. This is not a place where those extra added calories are at all worth it.

If you’re hankering for subpar seafood drenched in various fatty dressings, then this is the place for you. Bread baskets are by requests here, and took us asking them 3 separate times before they’d bring it. I ordered the salmon wrap, which had a sushi-​spicy mayo taste to it that coated the mouth. They neglected to bring my fries which were supposed to come with my dish, leaving me to rely on crackers from the bread basket to get through this ordeal. The space was light and airy though.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. We had made a reservation, once everyone had arrived we were sat outside. Typically, I’m a fan of brunchin outside but not this day. It was BRUTALLY hot and there was no shade on their small outdoor patio. We had a 15 month old with us, to boot. I received one glass of water the entire meal, while I probably sweated off 10 lbs. I actually had to get up and run to the bathroom to splash that water on my face.
The food was pretty good, however, if the servers are reluctant to go outside to replenish water, maybe they should consider umbrellas or covering for the outside patio for the poor people dying out there.
I’m sad because I felt we would’ve had a different experience if we had been given the option of sitting inside.

Saturday night was 1.5 hour wait. So put our name on the list and came back for an update in an hour. Needless to say, we were called early. The young lady didn’t seem to want to accommodate us with seating. However we finally got seated.
Now to the food… ordered the crab guacamole & crab crab for appetizers. Guacamole was ok. Needed more lime juice and really didn’t fancy the chips. Awesome combo though. Crab cake was very good. Big chunks of crab meat.
Drinks: margarita and Long Island ice tea. Both strong and good.
Entrees: steak and spicy beef soup (I think) & broiled seafood platter and seafood bisque. Everything was great.
Steak was tender and the knife went through it like butter. My date couldn’t stop raving about it.
I couldn’t eat my platter because that bisque was sooo damn good.

Me and my BFF went here for the first time and it was great. We asked to be seated outside and we had to wait about 20 min., but it was worth it. We came early to beat the crowd and glad we did. We did know they took reservations but we were ok at 6pm but by 8pm they were getting packed. The food was great, from the seafood chowder to the shrimps. The service wasn’t the best but that’s only if u need a waiter every second asking if u need anything (we were good).

Yes yes and yes… This place is pricy but the food is to die for.
The waiter was M.i.a most of the time but we didn’t mind it at all.
We came on a cool night so it was great sitting outside looking onto the water, but I could see it getting uncomfortable on humid or sunny days.
I highly recommend the crab stuffed twin 5oz lobster tails but really everything on the menu seems to be a score.

This restaurant was a terrible and I will never return. We reserved the restaurant for a large party and when we got there, we were stuck in the outside area where our entire party was sweating. There were no umbrellas for shade and it felt as though we were in a greenhouse. After asking the manager if we could put the air on, he was rude to the entire party and told our party to deal with it. He pressed his chest up to one of the dad’s in the party in front of everyone and yelled. This was incredibly disrespectful to him as well as his children who were watching.
Secondly, the wait staff was nothing but bitter. They were not happy to serve us and were rude to our party. There were multiple problems with our experience, but the service was by far the worst.
Do not go to this restaurant if you want to have a nice experience.

Came here celebrating our first meal as a newly weds. We stepped in around 7pm looking for a seat outside on the water on Friday night. We got a nice table overlooking the water from the inside. Lots of ambiance as the place starting getting busy. We started the meal off with PEI mussels. Spicy pomodoro I believe. It was pretty good. You get a nice kick at the end of it. Then we did the entrees. The seafood platter I had was pretty good. Cod and tilapia was pretty fresh. The stuffed flounder dish was tasteless. I mean it sucked. The Brussels sprouts tasted better… But to finish off the meal we had watermelon sangria which wasn’t too bad. It was clean crisp but needed a tad more alcohol. Overall good service so it redeemed 4 stars

This is the second time I have been to Rachel’s. The first time was before Sandy and we said we would never go back. Everyone said how great it was after Sandy so we decided to try it again. I should of listened to myself from the first time and not go back.
I ordered the Salmon Salad. The salad had sand in it and the piece of Salmon was tiny. When I told the waitress to please take the dish away she wasn’t even interested in what I had to say. Finally the manager came over and when I asked him about the Salmon he replied it’s all cut to order 3oz’s. Since when is a dinner portion 3oz? Not at any restaurant that I’ve been too.
And they were rushing us to leave. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

Went to Rachel’s for brunch on Father Day it a great Experience, Sea food was fresh and delicious you must try the watermelon sangria it was a great day

I don’t get all the negative reviews here. I am taking a star away only because service is not always the best. I have been here many times and sometimes it is good, but sometimes it is not. Either way, it would never stop me from coming here.
I have been here for lunch, dinner, and their brunch and I have never had a bad meal. Some of my favorites are the Crispy Stir Fry Calamari and the Tuna Nacho apps. The tuna app is really delicious and original.
For brunch my husband and I have a regular order. The salmon wrap and the sesame shrimp wrap, then we split them. They are both great.
For dinner there are 2 highlights that I always struggle with and that is the Chili Seared Tuna and the steak and gorgonzola sandwich. OMG, both are amazing. I also love you can select a fish and then select a preparation. I have tried a couple and was never disappointed.
Bottom line, the food here is amazing.

Hubby and I went for lunch. The food was overall pretty subpar… I got the mussels and calamari entrée for lunch, it came with a salad… the salad dressing was oil, it seemed they relied on the strawberries and goat cheese to flavor the salad. (I got no goat cheese on my salad) and my Husband got a Cuban sandwhich… he enjoyed his sandwich, but my entrée was very oily and extremely bland. All I tasted was oil. I couldn’t even eat the calamari on my plate, all I tasted was oil.
But there were perks (hence the 2 star rating), they have a drink called the priate witch, which was Butterscotch Flavored N/​A Beer with Captian Morgan Rum, very tasty. And the waitress was very sweet. She was extremely busy with the 11 other tables she was waiting on, but when we did see her, she smiled and was very polite, and friendly.
Overall, I wouldn’t come back here to eat, but I would to drink. For the price of the food, it’s not worth it, but the drink was.

The Good: Lovely view of the water, boat docking availability, and the crab guacamole was tasty
The Bad: transition from lunch ending at 230 and dinner starting at 3 created a huge traffic jam in seating and the kitchen. My fiancé and I ordered everything all at once, after sitting at a empty table for 20mins. Our waitress was rude, and never once returned to our table to check on us. Sat at table for 20mins after finishing eating before asking a bus boy for the check. My medium burger way burnt, not over cooked but literally burnt. My fiancé had a mixed seafood dish, looked like piles of oatmeal, but apparently tasted ok. All in all, there’s 100 places to eat on the nautical mile and this is not one.
