Artistic Bites

We were looking for someone who could do mini desserts and we found Artistic Bites. Her website said that she was no longer taking any more orders, but we decided to shoot an email over just to make sure. After a few emails, Deanna agreed to take on our wedding dessert order! She was patient and straightforward and we decided not to do a tasting since this was a last minute booking. Deanna did not disappoint and her desserts were amazing. We ordered fruit tarts and mango/​pistachio/​vanilla macarons, and they were gone before we could even try one! Our only regret was not ordering 2x or even 3x the amount, as they were an enormous hit. Deanna was amazing, desserts were amazing, will definitely recommend Artistic Bites to anyone looking for mini desserts.
Note to self: will be ordering a few dozen for our own personal consumption soon!

Deanna made our wedding cake and some of the desserts for our dessert bar. She was so easy to work with, very responsive, professional, and super sweet… and of course the most important thing, her desserts are DELICIOUS!
We did a tasting and tried lots of yummy flavors– in the end we did mmchocolate cupcakes, lemon raspberry cupcakes, and red velvet along with 3 different macaron flavors (orange creamsicle, pb&j and salted caramel. I think). All were delicious and set up perfectly!

Deanna did such a wonderful job on my wedding cake to the point that my family and friends, and even the workers and owners of my wedding reception venue talked about it a week later (no joke!). The taste was so satisfying and moist; sweet but not overly sweet; and enough to make you want more than one piece. In addition, the wedding cake decoration was just perfect and more than I could have imagined it to be!
Deanna was also so easy to work with. We came to our tasting not really knowing what to expect or oh we wanted our cake to look like. Deanna was very patient with us, took the time to explain the different cake flavors and options to us, and even went out of her way to show us cost cutting alternatives and wedding cake styles to help is carve out our own wedding cake décor. Even when I wanted to change a few things about the cake décor after our meeting, Deanna was very patient, organized, and continued to be easy to work with despite the planning of her OWN wedding! I know I’m going on and on, but she really was THAT GREAT and I would while heartedly recommend her to anyone!

Deanna has made both my daughters’ birthday cakes for the past 4 years and I always give her artistic freedom to do whatever she feels my kids would love. She never disappoints!!! She’s also made my cakes for my baby shower and wedding. Not only are they beautiful cakes, THEYRE FREAKIN DELICIOUS!!! I was eating cake scraps the day before my wedding when she was assembling the cake. To die for!!! Hell, I’d eat a piece of cake of the ground as long as it’s make by her. Anything this woman makes is tasty.

Thank you so much, Deanna!!! Deanna rescued us. At the very last minute we needed a very special cake for a very special anniversary for my dear parents. All of our correspondences were through email and phone. To this day, I have yet to meet Deanna face to face. Deanna prepared macaron favors and a custom cake. It was a splurge, but totally worth it. Believe it or not, it tasted even better the next day, although there wasn’t much of left. Everyone loved it and my parents saved the custom made family tree and fondant birds! I apologize this was so late, but I wanted to upload pictures. I will have to add them at a later date.

We had probably one of the best cakes I have ever tasted in my life made by the talented Deanna! I am so glad we chose Deanna to design our cake. I really wanted lace details for our cake since my theme incorporated lace and also my wedding dress was all lace and Deanna was able to deliver on my vision. Deanna was so sweet and listened to what we wanted and offered suggestions to what she believed would work. She also made sure to work with our budget.
Our cake tasting consisted of 4 flavors (Lemon raspberry, MMM cake-​cookies and cream, supa mango– oh oh, and chocolate truffle) to taste test. All flavors were scrumptious (BTW I am a dessert freak) but we ultimately decided to go with the Lemon Raspberry cake for a light cake for our summer wedding. OMG it was heavenly during our cake tasting and was even better on the day of the wedding. The night of the wedding I was patiently waiting until I could have a bite of wedding cake. I loved it so much I even finished my husband’s slice hahahah! Our guests enjoyed the cake too!
The first time I saw our cake was of course during our cake cutting and I was so happy with how GORGEOUS it was. It was even better than what I had envisioned for it to be. The cake was light, MOIST, and full of flavor. I have had cakes at other weddings that were hella dry and really didn’t taste good at all but Deanna’s cakes taste HELLA DELICIOUS and MOIST… just what a cake should be.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Deanna. You will not be disappointed. Be sure to book her pronto! I plan on ordering more cake from her for other events because she is just that good! Thanks Deanna again for fulfilling my wedding cake dreams!

Picking the right wedding cake was by far the second most important part of the wedding planning process (my dress being the first!). I tried several different bakeries to find the PERFECT cake. I felt like goldilocks, one place was too sweet, the next place too dry. Artistic Bites is JUST PERFECT! Working with Deanna was an absolute delight. She was the only place that was willing to make a buttercream cake with fresh fruit and delivered all the way to Half Moon Bay. We worked together to find the perfect design and it turned out wonderful! I highly recommend working with Deanna and hope to work with her in the future.

I first found out about Deanna and Artistic Bites last year while planning my son’s 1^st bday. Unfortunately, she was already booked the day of the party and we resorted to having to use someone else. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with that cake and I vowed that for his 2^nd bday, we would have the best cake ever and boy, did Deanna deliver!
It started with me giving her a general idea of how I wanted the cake to look and as the process went on, she was able to create something unique (and delicious!) for my son’s bday. Our flavor choices were limited bc his bday is Nov but it didn’t matter, it was all still soo good! We had the MMM cake for one layer and the lemon raspberry for another. The cake itself was moist and flavorful and the filling had just the right amount of sweetness. It had to be one of the best cakes I’ve ever tasted and that’s saying a lot since I have such a big sweet tooth.
I’m very particular when it comes to details and Deanna was able to work me and my type A personality on price, colors, icing, and any other small thing that I had a question on. We also had her make cookie favors for the party and those looked and tasted great too! Our guests were super impressed and I was so thankful for Deanna and Artistic Bites. She’s attentive, helpful and very professional; I wouldn’t have any qualms using her services again or recommending her to anyone. Thanks again Deanna!

Deanna has created such a beautiful and delicious wedding cake for my husband and I this past August of 2013. When I saw the cake in person I could not believe how it was exactly what I envisioned for our wedding cake to be. From our first meeting and cake tasting, Deanna has been a pleasure to work with. Very helpful and thoughtful. She was not afraid to let us know what she thinks will not work and suggested ideas that made our wedding cake perfect. Her cakes are so delicious it was really hard for my husband and I to decide on the flavor. Instead, we ended up choosing two different flavors for the 4 tier cake that we ordered. The cake was not just beautiful but absolutely delicious! We received many compliments from guest and family.
Deanna also created french macarons for our wedding favors. Her french macarons are absolutely delectable. Our guest enjoyed them and wanted more! We wanted more!
Deanna will definitely be our dessert lady from now on… we can’t wait for our next order!

Where do I begin? Deanna is amazing!!! My husband and I were elated when we walked into the barrel room at the winery we were married at, and saw the beautiful white cake with cupcakes cascading down and around like a wedding dress! My heart melted… I had this vision and she made it happen.
The top tier was a 6 inch round cake with white fondant frosting, the cupcakes were definitely the show stopper… They were lemon curd with raspberry!!! OMG! They were so moist and soft.
I will definitely be using Artistic Bites again! Thanks Deanna!

I had the pleasure of eating some of Pastry Chef Deanna Gin’s creations at Unilocal Summer Sip-​Nic.
Soooo good! We had the absolutely scrumptious” MMM… cupcake”; a chocolate cupcake topped with a cream cheese chocolate cookie frosting. The frosting is then covered in tiny chocolate pieces.
MIND=BLOWN.
I wish I could have eaten more but for some reason we had to share with the other Unilocalers. How unfair.:)
Got a chance to speak to the pastry chef and she was totally awesome and answered all our questions.
I will definitely be using Artistic Bites in the future.

I’ve enjoyed the wonderful treats from Artistic Bites a few times now. I’ve had their decorative cakes, pumpkin tarts, and pecan tarts and always been impressed.
First off Deanna’s edible works of art are a sight that need to be seen in person. It’s one thing to have a great looking cake and another to taste good and she accomplishes both with her cakes.
For Thanksgiving last year I ordered pecan and pumpkin tarts to share with family and friends. The ordering process was smooth and painless and she had them ready the day before Thanksgiving. Everyone who was able to get their hands on one of the tarts were thoroughly pleased.
I highly suggest Artistic Bites for your events and baked goods needs!

We had a graduation party last sunday, and Deanna made a beautiful cake in the shape of a book with a graduate cap on top. The guests at our grad party were amazed! We had to delay cutting the cake because so many of our guests were taking pics! It sure tasted as good as it looked. Cake was delivered on time. I will definitely be calling Artistic Bites for our next event! Thanks Deanna!

Tried some samples at a Unilocal event in Oakland and I’m very impressed! Their flavors are all authentic, not overly sweetened, and the texture of their cakes are soft & moist.
I really enjoyed the rose macaroon & mini raspberry cakes. I especially liked the mini pumpkin pie cakes I tried at one point.

It’s pretty hard to expect a vendor to exceed your expectations, but Artistic Bites exceeded mine! Even with her multiple commitments, Deanna makes you feel like your needs are thee most important! She made the process very easy and really listens to your requests.
For my daughter’s 5^th birthday party, she chose an Aladdin/​Jasmine theme. It’d been a pretty busy month at work and I had absolutely no time to tend to the details (favors, decorations, kids activities, etc). I was pretty worried her friends and my guests would be disappointed. I had found a cake design my daughter had loved. Although Deanna (Artistic Bites Pastry Chef) provided me with ample design examples, I had asked Deanna if she could re-​create the design my daughter had found. I was informed that Deanna always adds her own «spin/​creative touch» to her designs, so I did not expect her to make it exactly like the photo.
When the cake arrived, Deanna and her VERY helpful driver/​delivery guy, set up the cake and the stand. Oh my! Not only did she make a beautiful display (pedestal, platter, decorative cloth to fit our theme), but she made an absolutely beautiful cake. The cake had a genie lamp and they added dry ice to make smoke come out of it (that was not part of my request)! So creative and absolutely entertaining! How many people can say that about THEIR cake creations?!
Nonetheless, the cake was beautifully done, created with love, and so yummy! My guests were impressed, I adored it and even the venue we had our event at said they’d never seen anything like it! I’ll post a pic, but I don’t think it does it justice. We were absolutely a satisfied customer.

Well, that was OUR wedding cake by the extremely talented pastry chef, Deanna Gin, creator of Artistic Bites!!!
My husband and I love the ocean, and for our wedding, we went with teal/​light blue and yellow as our colors. We had our wedding reception on the private pier at La Mar in San Francisco, which was right on the water, so the ocean was our main theme.
The cake Deanna created for us just shows her creative genius. After just a short consultation, I decided to trust Deanna and let her do her thing.
When I saw my wedding cake the day of the reception, I was floored. I couldn’t be happier!!! It was a perfect depiction of what I had wanted, the colors were spot on, the shells and starfish looked so real, the entire thing was PERFECT. It was EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED!
Actually, OUR cake was exactly what WE wanted. (I guess I have to use «we» now that we’re married)…but seriously the cake fit in with everything else perfectly… the backdrop of the ocean, just the right amount of fancy and whimsical, but also elegant and formal.
It totally reflected our personalities and tastes. I couldn’t stop staring at it. I remember just wanting to stand around the cake to look at all the details and enjoy the craftsmanship. I wanted to hug Deanna for the work she had done, and I am sure I did!
Plus, she delivers! I really didn’t have to worry about ANYTHING before the wedding, and it came, right on time, before the reception began. It is such a Godsend when a business is so reliable and works hard to make you happy. You can just relax and enjoy your wedding day instead of running around like a maniac worried about everything.
I LOVED OUR CAKE FROM DEANNA!!! I really couldn’t have asked for more.
Now every time I get a chance to look at our wedding album I smile when I see our cake. She has created a memory for us of our special day that is beautiful and timeless. That in itself is priceless.

I saw a birthday cake Deanna created on Facebook and wanted the same thing, She expressed to me she dosen’t like doing the same cake twice. Her cakes are designed and created and not your everyday run of the mill flat cake with plastic toys dropped on it.
She created a jaw dropping Toy Story 3 themed cake with a Lotso Huggin’ Bear chillin’ on a Tonka truck! The expressions on everyone’s face was frikkin’ priceless! We have a framed picture of my son going to town on Lotso’s face in our kitchen! PRICELESS MEMORIES! Oh… BTW the cake tasted great! I can’t wait to use Deanna for his 5^th birthday next year!

Food: ⁵⁄₅ — My fiancé/​now wife just used Artistic Bites for our wedding on 6÷23÷12. We sampled many other places, in SF as well as other places in the Bay, and this was by far the best in terms of taste and presentation. We first sampled Deanna’s cakes at a wedding fair on the Peninsula, and we thought her cakes were some of the best we had sampled overall. We were particularly impressed with the freshness of the fruit ingredients she uses, as well as the fact that her cakes are moist, and fillings/​buttercreams are perfectly sweet and well proportioned. We opted to choose raspberry lemon, which was really fresh and very light and tasty.
Not only are her cakes really flavorful, but Deanna truly lives up to the ‘artistic’ piece of the name. We looked at many of her previous cake designs (only some of which are posted here), and she has done some extremely complex and creative designs. I’ve honestly only seen these types of cakes on Food Network shows. So on that end, we felt like she was by far the best in terms of the design factor of the cake. With both awesome flavor + design, we felt like this was our best option.
Service: ⁵⁄₅ — Deanna was extremely professional, and always very responsive despite a busy schedule. We always had a really pleasant experience both via email, phone, and in-​person during tastings. Having dealt with many other vendors, and understanding that she is also actively baking during the day, I’d say she was always prompt and professional. And she was also very good about making recommendations for us, and interpreting our wants/​needs to put together an awesome cake for us.
Value: ⁵⁄₅ — The cake was a great value, especially considering how good the flavor was and how skilled Deanna is with design. We found so many other vendors that were either good on flavor only, or good on design only, or otherwise far too expensive if they had good flavor and design. Deanna has a really great balance of the three, and because of that her value was far better than other places we researched. I’d definitely consider her in the future — for fun birthday/​celebration cakes!

Deanna did my wedding cake for a fall themed wedding. She captured everything I wanted! I got the strawberry orange and man did everyone enjoy the cake.
Its not a heavy cake, very lite but soooo good. We even went back to her for my daughters birthday and the kids n adults loved it.
She does more than cakes!!! I am always do fast to refer Artistic Bites to friends.

Artistic Bites never ceases to amaze me with both their artistic presentations and creations as well as the deliciously delectable desserts and cakes. I have been ordering cakes and other desserts from Deanna for a while and she continually delivers great food that everyone enjoys. She continues to produce better and higher quality desserts each time!
Her tarts are one of my favorite deserts she makes. The pumpkin and apple tarts as well as the strawberry cheesecake in a chocolate shell tarts are my favorites. Every time I order some for parties, they are gone within minutes. My favorite cake flavor would have to be a tie between strawberry goodness and MMM cake but you can’t go wrong with any flavor.
I highly recommend her for any of your desert needs. You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying Deanna’s creations for a few years now. She always makes the cakes for our friends’ special occasions. The best part about Deanna’s cakes/​tarts/​desserts – they not only look amazing, but the taste is out of this world!
A few years ago, my friends and I were obsessed with irish car bombs. No we weren’t alcoholics, we just enjoyed the flavors of the Guiness and chocolate. As my birthday surprise, my friend asked Deanna to come up with something amazing. When he got to my house, imagine my surprise when I found a green bomb with little leprechauns surrounding it! And after I blew out the candle, we cut into it and it had the perfect blend of flavors! It tasted like chocolate + Guiness – just like a real Irish Car Bomb!
Since that party, I’ve enjoyed lots of other cakes from Deanna– a cake shaped like a tooth to celebrate a friend entering dental school… a sushi cake (because we had a sushi themed party)… you name it and Deanna’s creativity oozes out.
Deanna is definitely one of the most creative people I’ve ever met and I love ordering cakes from Artistic Bites!
